TWC payment request tomorrow - will deposit hit Friday or Monday?
So I'm supposed to request my TWC unemployment payment tomorrow (Thursday). Does anyone know if I'll get the direct deposit on Friday or will I have to wait until Monday? This is my first time filing for unemployment after getting laid off from the oil field last month, and I need to plan for some bills. My bank usually processes direct deposits the same day, but I'm not sure how fast TWC sends the money after I make the request. Thanks!

•Thanks for the info! I'll try to request it first thing in the morning then. Really hoping it comes Friday.

In my experience, if you file your payment request on Thursday, you typically won't see the deposit until Monday. TWC processes payment requests within 2-3 business days, and weekends don't count. Sometimes it can take up to 4 business days depending on your bank and if there are any holidays or system delays. It's best to plan for Monday, but occasionally people do get lucky with Friday deposits. Make sure you complete all your work search activities before requesting payment to avoid any delays!

•Great, thanks for the detailed answer! I've been keeping track of my work search activities in a spreadsheet so I'm good there. I'll budget for Monday just to be safe.

Why do you even have to request payment?? My husband just got approved and we're so confused by this whole system. I thought they just send the money automatically every two weeks??? Do we have to call them or something??

•You always have to request payment every two weeks - it's not automatic. You can request online at ui.texasworkforce.org or call Tele-Serv at 800-558-8321. Make sure you're requesting on your assigned day or during the open request period. The system will ask about work search activities and any earnings, so have that information ready. Missing a payment request can cause problems with your claim.

I've filed unemployment three times in Texas and I NEVER get my deposit until Monday when requesting on Thursday. The TWC website says 2-3 business days but it's always 3 business days for me. Don't count on Friday! If you need money faster next time, try requesting on Monday or Tuesday instead - you'll get it by Thursday usually.

•That's good to know about requesting earlier in the week. Unfortunately my assigned day is Thursday according to my claim info, but I'll check if I can request earlier next time.

•Just to clarify, your assigned request day is based on the last digit of your Social Security Number, but you can also request on any day after your assigned day through Saturday (the open request period). So if Thursday is your assigned day, you could request Thursday, Friday, or Saturday. However, you cannot request before your assigned day.

I remember waiting FOREVER for my first payment last year. The TWC system is so frustrating. I hope you get yours Friday but don't count on it! 😩

•Yeah it's definitely not as straightforward as I expected. Crossing my fingers but planning for Monday!

Is your payment deposit setup correct in your TWC account? I had a friend who thought she had direct deposit but the system had an old account number. Worth checking before you request payment so you don't have delays. Go to the Payment Option page on your TWC account to verify.

•Good point! I double-checked and my bank info is correct. I set it up when I first applied last month and got the confirmation email that my direct deposit was verified. Thanks for the reminder though!

Has anyone else noticed that trying to call TWC about deposit issues is impossible? I tried for THREE DAYS last month when my payment was late and couldn't get through. Busy signals or getting disconnected after waiting an hour. The system is broken!!

•I had the same problem but then I found this service called Claimyr that got me through to a TWC agent in about 20 minutes instead of calling for days. They basically call TWC for you and connect you when they get through. It helped me resolve my payment issue quickly. You can see how it works at claimyr.com or check their demo video at https://youtu.be/V-IMvH88P1U?si=kNxmh025COIlIzKh

One more tip: Always check your TWC correspondence inbox after requesting payment. Sometimes there are issues that need to be resolved before payment is released, and you'll see a notice there. Also make sure you report any wages correctly during your payment request to avoid overpayment issues later.

•Thanks for the advice! I haven't earned anything since being laid off, but I'll make sure to check my correspondence inbox after submitting the request tomorrow. I didn't realize they might send messages there about payment issues.
