How long after TWC payment request until money hits my account?

Just submitted my first payment request for Texas unemployment yesterday (Monday) through the TWC portal. The system said it went through, but I'm totally in the dark about when I'll actually see the money in my account. My bills are piling up and I really need to know when to expect this deposit. I set up direct deposit during my initial application. Can anyone who's been through this recently tell me how many days it usually takes from request to deposit? Do they approve each request manually or is it automatic once you've been approved for benefits? Thanks!

After payment request, you should see money in your account within 2-3 business days if there are no issues with your claim. I submitted mine last Wednesday and got paid Friday morning. If you chose direct deposit during your application and your bank info was entered correctly, it's pretty quick. You can also check the payment status through your TWC account online or by calling Tele-Serv (800-558-8321). Just have your PIN ready.

Thanks! That's a relief to hear it might be that quick. I'll keep an eye on my bank account over the next couple days. If I don't see anything by Thursday, should I be worried?

Don't worry, I've been on unemployment since February and the timing has been very consistent. The TWC system processes payment requests on specific days based on the last digit of your Social Security Number. After your payment request is processed, it usually takes 2-3 business days for direct deposit to hit your account. First payments sometimes take a bit longer (up to 5 business days), but after that it's like clockwork every two weeks. You can check your payment status online by logging into your TWC account and clicking on "Payment Status." It will show if payment has been processed and when it was sent to your bank.

Thank you for the detailed response! I didn't know about the SSN scheduling thing. My last digit is 4 - does that affect which day of the week my payment gets processed?

mine took like a week for the first one but after that it was way faster usually 2 days most of the time

A WEEK?? Mine took 2 days every single time even the first one. Maybe you had some kind of issue with your claim that didn't get caught right away. The system should tell you if there's a problem though.

BE CAREFUL! If there's ANY issue with your claim, you could be waiting WEEKS not days! My first payment request seemed to go through fine but then it got stuck in "pending" status for 21 days because they were reviewing my work separation reason. The website never showed any problems - I had to call about 50 times before I finally got through to someone who could tell me what was happening. TWC is TERRIBLE about communicating problems with your claim! Check your payment status every day and if it says anything other than "processed" after 3-4 days, something is wrong and you need to call them ASAP!

Oh no, that sounds stressful! I was laid off due to company downsizing, so I'm hoping there won't be issues with my separation reason. Is there any way to check if there are problems with my claim before I try to call?

The timing really depends on a few factors: 1. If this is your first payment request, it might take 4-5 business days instead of the usual 2-3. 2. If you have any unresolved issues on your claim (work search requirements, identity verification, etc.), payment can be delayed. 3. Payment processing day is based on the last digit of your SSN (0-3 Monday, 4-6 Tuesday, 7-9 Wednesday). 4. Bank holidays can add a day or two. To check your payment status, log into your TWC account and select "Payment Status" from the menu. It will show if your payment has been processed and when it was sent to your bank. If it says "processed" and shows a deposit date, you should receive it within 1-2 business days of that date. If your payment status shows "pending" for more than 5 days, there's likely an issue that needs to be resolved. Try calling TWC directly - though I know getting through can be nearly impossible these days.

This is really helpful, thank you! My SSN ends in 4, so I guess that means Tuesdays are my processing day? Since I requested on Monday, does that mean I missed the processing for this week and have to wait until next Tuesday?

Getting through to TWC by phone is a nightmare when there's a payment issue. I spent 3 weeks trying to call about a payment that never came through - constant busy signals and disconnects. Finally used a service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that got me connected to a TWC agent in about 20 minutes. Worth every penny when you're stressing about missing payments. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/V-IMvH88P1U?si=kNxmh025COIlIzKh Regarding your timeline - typically if everything's approved and there are no issues with your claim, it takes 2-3 business days after processing for the money to hit your account.

Just to add to what others have said - you can also check the TWC automated phone system (Tele-Serv at 800-558-8321) for payment status. Sometimes it updates there before the website shows changes. Select option 2, then option 1 to hear payment information. If it says your payment request has been processed, you should receive funds within 1-2 business days from that point.

Tell me about it! This month is going to be tight no matter what, but at least knowing when to expect the money helps with planning. Thanks for the good wishes!
