How long to receive TWC debit card after mailing date? Mine's been missing for days

I'm starting to get a little worried about my unemployment benefits. TWC's website shows that they mailed my debit card on May 19th (five days ago), but I haven't received anything yet. I've already been approved and got my determination letter, so I know I'm eligible for benefits. The online payment status shows "paid" but without the card, I can't access any funds. This is my first time filing for unemployment after being laid off from construction work, and rent is coming up soon. Is this normal? How many days should I wait before contacting TWC about a possibly lost card? I've heard their phone lines are impossible to get through, so I'm hoping someone here has experience with this timeline.

TWC's debit cards typically take 7-10 business days to arrive in the mail, so I wouldn't panic just yet. Mine took exactly 8 business days last summer. The mail date shown in the system is when they process it, not necessarily when it physically goes into USPS. If you don't receive it by the end of next week, then you should definitely call the ReliaCard customer service number (not TWC) at 1-866-295-9901 to report it missing and request a replacement. Keep in mind that replacement cards can take another 7-10 business days.

Thank you for the info! That's a relief to hear. I'll give it until next Friday before I start making calls. Is the ReliaCard number easier to get through than the regular TWC line?

3 weeks?? Ugh, that's so frustrating but good to know I'm not alone. USPS has been really hit or miss in my neighborhood lately.

Just an FYI - once you get your ReliaCard, you should immediately set up direct deposit to your bank account if you have one. I had my card lost in the mail TWICE and it was a nightmare. With direct deposit, you don't have to worry about mail delays or lost cards. You can set it up through the ReliaCard website after you activate your card. It's also safer than carrying around a card with all your benefits on it.

That's really smart advice. I do have a checking account, so I'll definitely set up direct deposit as soon as I get the card. Thanks for the tip!

When my husband got laid off from his oil field job in 2023, his card took exactly 12 days to arrive. Don't forget they don't mail these things on weekends or holidays, so it's really only been about 3-4 business days since the 19th. The mailman in our area is also super inconsistent and sometimes delivers things to the wrong houses, so that might be happening too.

If you're really concerned about your card, I found a service called Claimyr that helped me get through to TWC when I had a similar issue with my ReliaCard. Their system holds your place in line with TWC so you don't have to keep redialing through busy signals. I was skeptical at first but after trying for days to reach someone, I used them and got through in about 20 minutes. They have a demo video at https://youtu.be/V-IMvH88P1U?si=kNxmh025COIlIzKh that shows how it works. The TWC agent I spoke with was able to confirm my card status and gave me peace of mind while I waited.

It worked for me! I was hesitant too, but after spending hours hitting redial with no luck, it was worth it to finally talk to someone at TWC. Just check out their website at claimyr.com for more info.

The TWC debit card situation is ridiculous in this state!! My neighbor is STILL waiting on her replacement card after 3 WEEKS even though she requested expedited shipping! The system is completely broken and they don't care that people have bills to pay. My advice? Start calling BOTH the ReliaCard number AND TWC every single day until you get your card. The squeaky wheel gets the grease with these government agencies.

While I understand your frustration, calling daily isn't going to make the mail move faster if the card has already been sent. It's better to wait the standard delivery window before requesting a replacement, otherwise you might end up with multiple cards being sent which can create more confusion.

Easy for you to say when it's not YOUR rent money sitting in limbo! The system is DESIGNED to make us wait and suffer. I've seen people waiting MONTHS for benefits they're entitled to!

When I filed for unemployment last year after being laid off from teaching, I worried about the same thing. The website said my card was mailed on a Tuesday, and I didn't receive it until the following Thursday (9 days later). One thing to check - make sure your mailing address in the TWC system matches exactly what's on file with USPS. Even small differences can cause delays. You can verify your address is correct by logging into your TWC account and checking your profile information.

I double-checked my address in the system and it's correct. Good tip though! I'll give it a few more days based on everyone's experiences here. Seems like 7-10 business days is normal but it could take up to 3 weeks in some cases.

Just to give you some peace of mind - even if your card is taking longer than expected, your benefits aren't going anywhere. They'll remain on the card whenever it arrives. And if you need to request a replacement, the funds will transfer to the new card automatically. The waiting is frustrating, but your money is secure.

One more tip: when your card does arrive, call to activate it immediately and change the PIN from the default. There have been cases of mail theft targeting unemployment debit cards. Also, download the ReliaCard app so you can monitor your balance and transactions in real-time. The app will also alert you when deposits are made to your card.

Thanks for the security tips! I hadn't even thought about mail theft targeting these cards specifically. I'll definitely change the PIN right away and get the app set up.

I went through this exact same situation last month when I was laid off from my warehouse job. My card was "mailed" on a Wednesday and didn't show up until the following Tuesday - so about 6 business days. What really helped me was tracking my regular mail delivery times in my neighborhood. I noticed our mail carrier usually comes between 2-4 PM, so I made sure to check right after that window each day. Also, the TWC debit cards come in a plain white envelope that's pretty thin, so it's easy to miss if you're expecting something more obvious. Don't lose hope - it's probably just stuck in the normal mail processing somewhere!

That's really helpful about the plain white envelope! I've been looking for something more official-looking, so I might have actually missed it. I'll pay closer attention to all the mail coming in and check around that 2-4 PM window like you mentioned. Thanks for sharing your timeline too - 6 business days gives me hope that mine should arrive soon!

I'm a mail carrier here in Texas and wanted to chime in with some insight from our side. The TWC debit cards go through standard USPS processing, which means they can get caught up in sorting facilities especially during high volume periods. Memorial Day weekend might have caused some delays too since that was right around when yours was processed. The cards are sent via regular first-class mail, not priority, so they don't get any special handling. From my experience, 7-10 business days is realistic, but I've seen them take up to 2 weeks during busy periods. Also, make sure to check with neighbors - I've accidentally delivered these thin envelopes to the wrong address before when house numbers are hard to read. The good news is that if it doesn't show up by early next week, requesting a replacement is pretty straightforward through ReliaCard customer service.

This is incredibly helpful coming from someone who actually handles these cards! I didn't realize Memorial Day weekend could have impacted the processing. That timing makes a lot of sense since my card was supposedly mailed on the 19th. I'll definitely check with my neighbors this afternoon - our house numbers are pretty faded and I could see how they might be hard to read. Thanks for the insider perspective on the 7-10 business day timeline and the tip about ReliaCard customer service if I need a replacement. It's reassuring to know this is normal mail processing and not some bigger issue with my claim.

I'm dealing with this same anxiety right now! Filed in early April and my card was supposedly mailed last Tuesday. Reading through everyone's experiences here is really reassuring - sounds like the 7-10 business day window is pretty standard, even though it feels like forever when you're waiting on money you need. I'm going to take the advice about checking with neighbors and looking for that plain white envelope. Also planning to set up direct deposit immediately once the card arrives so I never have to go through this stress again. Thanks everyone for sharing your timelines and tips!

I totally understand that anxiety! I'm actually in a similar boat - my card was mailed on the 19th and I've been checking the mailbox obsessively every day. It's so stressful when rent is due and you're waiting on funds you desperately need. Reading everyone's experiences here has been a huge relief though. The mail carrier's insight about Memorial Day weekend potentially causing delays really put things in perspective for me. I'm going to follow the advice about checking with neighbors too since apparently these cards come in really plain envelopes that are easy to miss or misdeliver. Hang in there - sounds like we should both have our cards by early next week based on the timelines people are sharing!

I work for a credit union and see these ReliaCard delays all the time when members come in asking about their unemployment benefits. The mail date TWC shows is when they send the data to the card company, not when it physically ships. There's usually 1-2 days of processing on ReliaCard's end before it even goes to USPS. So if your card shows "mailed" on May 19th, it probably didn't actually enter the mail stream until May 21st or 22nd. Factor in Memorial Day weekend and you're really only looking at maybe 2-3 actual delivery days so far. I'd expect it by this coming Monday or Tuesday at the latest. If it doesn't arrive by Wednesday, then definitely call ReliaCard to report it missing. And yes, once you get it, absolutely set up direct deposit - saves so much hassle!

This is exactly the kind of insider information I needed to hear! I had no idea there was additional processing time on ReliaCard's end before it actually goes to USPS. That explains so much - if my card wasn't actually mailed until the 21st or 22nd, then I've really only been waiting a few business days. The Memorial Day weekend timing makes perfect sense too. I feel so much better knowing this is completely normal and I should expect it by Monday or Tuesday. Thank you for breaking down the actual timeline behind the "mailed" date - that's incredibly helpful context that TWC doesn't explain anywhere!

I just want to echo what everyone else is saying - the waiting is absolutely nerve-wracking but it sounds totally normal based on all these experiences. I went through the same thing last fall when I was laid off from retail. My card took 9 business days to arrive and I was convinced it was lost. The "mailed" date on TWC's website is definitely misleading because it doesn't account for the processing delays on ReliaCard's end. One thing that helped me was calling my local post office to ask if they had any undelivered mail for my address - sometimes packages get held up there if there are delivery issues. Also, don't be afraid to flag down your mail carrier if you see them - they're usually really helpful about checking if they have anything for you or if there have been delivery problems in your area. Hang in there, it'll show up!

That's a great tip about calling the local post office! I never would have thought to ask if they're holding any undelivered mail. I'm definitely going to try that if my card doesn't show up by Tuesday. It's so reassuring to hear from everyone that 9+ business days is still within normal range - I was starting to panic that something went wrong with my claim. The stress of waiting for money you desperately need is just awful, especially when rent is due soon. Thanks for the encouragement and practical advice!

Hey CosmicVoyager, I totally feel your stress about this! I'm going through something similar right now - my card was supposedly mailed on the 21st and I've been anxiously checking the mail every day. After reading through all these responses, I'm feeling much more reassured that this is completely normal. The insight from the credit union worker about the "mailed" date being misleading was especially helpful - sounds like our cards probably didn't even hit the actual mail stream until a few days after that date, especially with Memorial Day weekend thrown in. I'm planning to wait until Wednesday before I start making calls to ReliaCard, and I'm definitely going to set up direct deposit immediately once my card arrives. The plain white envelope tip is good to know too - I've been looking for something more official! Hang in there, it sounds like we should both have our cards by early next week based on everyone's timelines here.

Thanks Logan! It's such a relief to know I'm not the only one going through this anxiety right now. Your timeline is almost identical to mine - sounds like we're both victims of that Memorial Day weekend processing delay that everyone's been talking about. I really appreciate you taking the time to read through all the responses and share the key insights. The credit union worker's explanation about the "mailed" date was a total game-changer for me too. I had no idea there was that extra processing time on ReliaCard's end before it even gets to USPS. Wednesday sounds like a good cutoff date for both of us to start making calls if needed. Fingers crossed we both get our cards by Tuesday! This community has been incredibly helpful - I was starting to spiral thinking something was wrong with my claim, but now I know this is just the normal (frustrating) process.

I'm actually dealing with this exact same situation right now! My TWC debit card was supposedly mailed on May 20th and I've been obsessively checking the mailbox every day since. Reading through everyone's experiences here has been such a huge relief - I had no idea that the "mailed" date on TWC's website doesn't actually mean it went into the mail that day. The explanation about ReliaCard needing 1-2 days to process before it even hits USPS makes so much sense, especially with Memorial Day weekend thrown into the mix. I was starting to panic that something was wrong with my claim, but now I realize I've probably only had 2-3 actual delivery days so far. I'm going to follow the advice about checking with neighbors for that plain white envelope and waiting until Wednesday before calling ReliaCard if it doesn't show up. It's so stressful when you need that money for bills, but this community has really helped calm my nerves. Thanks everyone for sharing your timelines and tips!

I'm so glad this thread has been helpful for you too! It's amazing how many of us are going through the exact same anxiety right now. I was literally losing sleep over this until I read everyone's experiences. The timing with Memorial Day weekend really seems to have affected a lot of cards that were "mailed" around the same time as ours. I'm definitely going to check with my neighbors today - I never would have thought about the plain white envelope thing or how easy it would be to misdeliver. It's such a relief to know that even if our cards take up to 2 weeks, that's still considered normal. The waiting is torture when you have bills due, but at least now we know we're not alone and this is just how the system works (unfortunately). Hopefully we'll all have our cards by early next week!
