PA UC weekly filing suddenly disappeared - IDme issues and account lockout after successful filings

I'm in a panic trying to help my son with his unemployment. Everything was working fine for the past 2 weeks - we filed his weekly claims without any problems and he was getting paid. But when we logged in today to file for this week, there's nothing showing up that lets us file a weekly claim! Instead, the system is suddenly asking for IDme verification which it NEVER required before. He tried to set up the IDme but now he's completely locked out of his account. What happened? Did something change in the system this week? Has anyone else suddenly been required to verify with IDme after already filing claims successfully? I'm worried he'll miss this week's claim deadline and lose benefits. Please help!

This just happened to my daughter last week! She had been claiming for about 5 weeks with no problems and then BOOM - suddenly needed IDme verification and couldn't file. She called for 3 days straight and couldn't get through to anyone. So frustrating!!

Did she ever get it resolved? I'm worried about missing the deadline to file this week. Did she have to create a whole new IDme account or was there a way to unlock the existing one?

PA UC implemented a new security verification schedule that's rolling out in batches. Some claimants who were previously exempt are now being required to verify through IDme. When your son gets locked out of IDme, it's usually because of a verification issue with his documents or the face recognition step. You should: 1. Have him try creating a new IDme account with a different email 2. Make sure all documents are clear and match exactly what's in his UC profile 3. Try the video chat verification option instead of the automated process 4. If all else fails, you need to contact PA UC directly to request a verification bypass code

the face recognition never works! i tried like 10 times and kept getting errors. ended up having to do the video chat thing which took FOREVER to get an appointment

The UC system is DESIGNED to lock people out and make it impossible to get benefits!!! This happened to me in January - was filing fine then suddenly needed IDme verification. Got locked out, couldn't get through on the phone for WEEKS. By the time I got it fixed I lost 3 weeks of benefits that they REFUSED to backdate!!! The whole system is corrupt and they're just trying to save money by denying claims!!!!

They should backdate if it was their system issue not yours. Did you try filing an appeal?

I had the same issue last month. The key is to get someone on the phone at PA UC as quickly as possible. They can temporarily override the IDme requirement while he sorts out the verification. The regular phone lines are almost impossible to get through, but I used a service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that got me connected to an agent in about 20 minutes instead of spending days redialing. They have a video showing how it works here: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2 Once I got through, the agent explained that they're requiring IDme verification in phases for security reasons, and they were able to place a temporary hold on my account so I could file my weekly claim while working through the verification process.

Thank you! I'll look into that service right away. Did they explain why the system would suddenly require IDme when it wasn't needed before? I'm just confused because he's already been verified and receiving benefits for weeks.

To answer your question about backdating: Yes, if your son misses filing due to the IDme verification issue, he can request a backdate once he gets it resolved. Make sure he documents everything - take screenshots of the error messages and the IDme lockout notices. When he finally speaks with an agent, he needs to clearly explain that he was unable to file due to a system-required verification that locked him out. The UC verification system is on a rolling schedule - some people get prompted right away when they first file, others might go several weeks or months before suddenly being required to verify. It's frustrating but it's part of their fraud prevention measures.

Thanks, that's a relief to hear about the backdating possibility. He's taking screenshots of everything now. Really appreciate the help!

my cousin works for PA UC and said they doing a big fraud sweep right now thats why all the idme stuff. lots of ppl using other ppls info to claim benefits so they cracking down. not saying thats what ur son did just saying thats why the extra steps all of sudden

That makes sense, I guess. It's just so stressful when they change the requirements suddenly without any warning or explanation. If they'd just sent an email explaining this was coming, we could have prepared!

i had to wait on hold for like 4 hrs but finally got thru to uc yesterday. lady said they can give u a 7-day extension for filing if its cause of idme problems, u just gotta actually reach a person to get the extension

4 hours???!!! Who has time for that?? Some of us have kids and responsibilities and can't sit on hold all day! They need to hire more people or fix their broken system!!

Quick update on the IDme situation - if your son gets through the verification process, make sure he also goes back to his PA UC dashboard and clicks the "Allow" button to connect IDme to his unemployment account. A lot of people miss this step and then wonder why their account is still locked even after successful verification. Also, after verification is complete, there can be a 24-48 hour delay before the system updates and allows weekly filing again.

I didn't know about the "Allow" button! Thank you for mentioning that. After trying all morning, we finally got through to someone using that Claimyr service you recommended. They confirmed everything you said about the rolling verification schedule and placed a 7-day hold on his account so he can file this week's claim while we sort out the IDme issues. Such a relief!

This might sound random but check if your son's driver's license or ID is expired. My hubby had this EXACT same problem and it turned out his license had expired the month before and IDme wouldn't verify him until he renewed it and uploaded the new one.

You know what, I think you might be onto something! His license just expired last month and he hasn't had time to renew it yet. I bet that's part of the verification problem. Thank you!
