PA UC weekly filing blocked by ID.me verification error despite being verified
I'm totally confused and getting anxious about my benefits! My bi-weekly filing date is coming up on the 26th, but the system won't let me file. It keeps showing an error message saying I'm 'not verified through ID.me' - which makes NO sense because I completed that verification months ago and have been claiming without problems every two weeks. Nothing has changed on my account, I haven't received any notices, and I've successfully filed for several payment periods before this. Has anyone run into this weird verification glitch? Did the system just randomly decide to un-verify me? I really can't afford to miss a payment cycle right now.

•Thanks, I'll try clearing my cookies. Did you have to redo the whole ID.me verification process or just log back in?

This is actually a known issue with the PA UC system right now. The verification status sometimes drops off even though you're fully verified. Here's what you need to do: 1. First, log into your ID.me account separately (not through the UC portal) to confirm your verification is still active there 2. Then go back to the UC site and completely log out 3. Clear your browser cache and cookies 4. Try using a different browser entirely if the above doesn't work 5. When you log back in, look for the option to "Reconnect your ID.me verification" on your dashboard If none of that works, unfortunately you'll need to call the UC service center directly to have them manually verify your ID.me status is connected to your claim.

•Thank you so much for these detailed steps! I just checked my ID.me account separately and it shows I'm still verified. Going to try the other steps now and hope it works. I really appreciate the help!

I had this EXACT PROBLEM last month!!! The system is totally broken and they don't care at all. I spent TWO WEEKS trying to get through on the phone. Finally got someone who told me their system had some "update" that disconnected some people's ID.me verifications. They fixed it in 2 minutes once I actually talked to someone but getting through was IMPOSSIBLE!!!!

•Ugh that's what I was afraid of. Two weeks?! I don't have that kind of time before my next filing is due. Did they backdate your payments at least?

my cousin works for the unemployment office and she says they did a system update on the 15th that messed up some of the id.me connections. they know about the problem but havent fixed it for everyone yet.

•This makes sense. System updates often cause verification issues. They should be sending notices about this, but as usual, communication is lacking. The ID.me reconnection option should appear on your dashboard if you were affected by this update.

I went through this nightmare last week! None of the logout/clear cache stuff worked for me. I tried calling for 3 days straight - busy signals or disconnected after waiting 2+ hours. I finally got through using Claimyr (claimyr.com) - they have this system that holds your place in line and calls you when an agent is ready. Saved me days of frustration. Check their video demo: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2 The UC agent confirmed it was a system-wide issue with the last update that disconnected ID.me verifications for some users. They fixed it on their end in about 5 minutes once I actually got to speak with someone.

@casual_commenter Yes, it actually worked for me. I was skeptical too but was desperate after days of trying. They called me back in about 40 minutes with an agent on the line. Way better than the hours I wasted trying to call directly.

•Thanks for the tip. I'm going to try the technical solutions first that @helpful_guidance suggested, but if those don't work, I might need to try this service. I absolutely can't miss this filing period.

You don't need to call anyone! The ID.me issue is a COOKIE PROBLEM not a real verification problem. The PA UC website is badly designed. Just open an incognito browser window, log in fresh, and it will work fine. Don't waste your time on the phone - they'll just tell you to do this anyway. Happened to me twice this year already.

•Really? That simple? I'm going to try this right now! Will report back if it works.

•No, I didn't get any emails from ID.me recently. My inbox has been pretty quiet except for the regular UC notifications after I file my biweekly claims.

UPDATE: The incognito window trick worked!!!! I can't believe it was that simple. Logged in through incognito mode and the system recognized my ID.me verification immediately. I was able to file my claim without any issues. Thank you all SO MUCH for your help - especially @system_expert for the super simple solution that saved me hours of frustration!

•Great news! Glad it worked out. For future reference, this is why I always recommend trying a different browser or incognito mode before calling. The PA UC system is very sensitive to cached login data, especially after their updates. Make sure to complete your filing on time now that you have access!

This is why I HATE the PA unemployment system so much. They make everything SO COMPLICATED when the fix is usually something stupidly simple. But do they tell us that? NO! They let us panic and waste hours trying to get through on the phone! So glad you got it fixed without having to call them.

•totally agree! they should just put these easy fixes on their website instead of making everyone call. would save everyone so much time

This thread is gold! I've been dealing with the exact same issue for the past week and was starting to panic about missing my filing deadline. The incognito browser solution is brilliant - such a simple fix for what seems like a major problem. It's frustrating that the PA UC system has these glitches after updates but at least there are workarounds. Bookmarking this thread for future reference. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences and solutions!

•So glad this thread helped you too! I was literally panicking yesterday thinking I'd lose my benefits over this stupid glitch. It's crazy how such a simple browser trick can fix what seems like a major system error. I'm definitely bookmarking this too - seems like the PA UC system has these ID.me hiccups pretty regularly after their updates. Hope your filing goes smoothly now!

Wow, this whole thread is a lifesaver! I've been having the same ID.me verification issue for the past few days and was getting really stressed about my upcoming filing date. I tried calling the UC office yesterday and sat on hold for over 3 hours before getting disconnected - so frustrating! Going to try the incognito browser trick right now. It's amazing how a simple browser issue can make you think there's something seriously wrong with your account. Thanks to everyone who shared their solutions, especially the quick fixes that don't require spending all day on the phone. This community is so helpful when dealing with the PA UC system's constant glitches!

•I'm so glad I found this thread! I was just about to post the exact same question - my filing date is tomorrow and I've been getting that same "not verified through ID.me" error even though I've been successfully filing for months. The 3+ hour hold times are absolutely ridiculous! I'm going to try the incognito browser method right now before I panic any more. It's such a relief to know this is a known system glitch and not something I did wrong. This community really saves the day when the official support system fails us!

Just wanted to add another solution that worked for me when I had this same issue last month! If the incognito browser trick doesn't work, try switching to a completely different browser. I was using Chrome and getting the ID.me error, but when I switched to Firefox it worked perfectly. Sometimes the PA UC system just doesn't play nice with certain browsers after their updates. Also, make sure you're going directly to the PA UC website and not clicking through any bookmarks or saved links - those can sometimes cache the old session data. Hope this helps anyone still struggling with this frustrating glitch!

•This is such great advice! I never thought about switching browsers completely. I've been stuck on Chrome for everything but you're absolutely right - sometimes different browsers handle the login sessions differently. The tip about not using bookmarks is really smart too. I always just click my saved bookmark to the UC site, but if it's caching old session data that could definitely cause issues. Going to try Firefox if the incognito method doesn't work for me. Thanks for sharing another solid workaround for this annoying glitch!

This exact same thing happened to me two weeks ago! I was freaking out because my filing date was the next day and I kept getting that "not verified through ID.me" error. Turns out it was just a browser cache issue. Here's what worked for me: 1. Completely close your browser 2. Restart it and go to the PA UC site in incognito/private mode 3. Log in fresh - don't use any saved passwords or autofill 4. The ID.me verification should work normally If that doesn't work, try a different browser entirely. I was using Safari and it kept giving me the error, but when I switched to Chrome it worked perfectly. The PA system is so glitchy after their updates but at least these workarounds usually fix it without having to call and wait on hold for hours!

•This is exactly what I needed to hear! I'm dealing with this same nightmare right now and my filing deadline is tomorrow. I've been using Safari and getting that same error message despite being verified for months. Going to try Chrome right now and see if that fixes it. It's so reassuring to know this is just a browser/cache issue and not something wrong with my actual verification status. The PA UC system really needs to get their act together with these glitches after every update - it causes so much unnecessary stress when people are already dealing with unemployment. Thank you for breaking down the exact steps!

I've been following this thread and wanted to share my experience from last week! I had the exact same ID.me verification error pop up right before my filing deadline. Like everyone else, I was completely verified and had been filing successfully for months. The incognito browser trick that @system_expert mentioned worked like a charm for me too! For anyone still struggling with this, here's my step-by-step process that worked: 1. Close ALL browser windows completely 2. Open a new incognito/private browsing window 3. Go directly to the PA UC website (don't use bookmarks) 4. Log in manually without using saved passwords 5. The ID.me verification should work normally If that fails, definitely try a different browser entirely. It's ridiculous that we have to jump through these hoops because of their system glitches, but at least these workarounds save us from those brutal phone wait times. The PA UC system really needs to fix these recurring issues after their updates - it causes unnecessary panic when people are already stressed about their benefits!
