PA UC website shows 'Under Maintenance' message for 2 days - Can't file weekly claim!

Is anyone else getting an 'under maintenance' message when trying to log into the PA UC portal? It's been TWO DAYS now and I need to file my weekly claim before the Friday deadline! I've tried different browsers, cleared my cache, even tried at different times of day but keep getting the same message. No advance notice, nothing! This is so frustrating - my rent is due next week and I'm counting on this payment. Anyone know if there's a workaround or how long these 'maintenance' periods usually last?

yep same here. tried at 6am this morning thinking maybe it would be back up but nope still down. super annoying

Good to know I'm not the only one at least. Have you tried calling? I tried but got a busy signal every time.

The PA UC system typically schedules maintenance on Sunday nights, but occasionally they have emergency maintenance that can last 24-48 hours. Don't worry too much about the Friday deadline - when the system goes down unexpectedly like this, they usually extend the filing period. Just keep checking and try to file as soon as it's back up. Also, you can sign up for text alerts on the UC website homepage (when it's working again) to get notifications about system outages in the future.

Thank you!! That's really helpful to know about the deadline extension. I'll definitely sign up for those text alerts once the system is back up.

THIS HAPPENS EVERY FEW MONTHS!!! The PA UC system is GARBAGE and they never warn anyone!!! Last time this happened to me I ended up missing a week of benefits because by the time the system came back up, I had missed the filing deadline. They SAID they would extend it but then claimed I never filed!!! Make sure you DOCUMENT EVERYTHING!!!

That's exactly what happened to my cousin too! He missed filing during one of these maintenance periods and had to appeal to get his benefits. Took almost a month to resolve. The system definitely has problems.

If anyone encounters issues with missing deadlines due to system maintenance, make sure to file an appeal immediately. Take screenshots of error messages whenever possible, and document all your attempts to file. The appeal form is available under the 'Appeals' section once you can access your dashboard again.

I was having the same issue but was able to get through to someone at UC yesterday after trying for hours. Used Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get past the busy signals and actually spoke to a real person who confirmed the system is down for emergency maintenance but should be back up by tomorrow. They took my weekly claim over the phone so I didn't miss the deadline. Here's a video that shows how it works: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2 - definitely worth it when the system is down like this and you need to file.

Whoa, I've never heard of this! They can actually take your claim over the phone? That would be so much better than waiting for the website. I'll check out that link, thanks!

@profile8 Yes, it does work! I was skeptical too but was desperate. They can definitely take your claim by phone - they asked all the same questions that are on the weekly certification. The agent I spoke with said they've been flooded with calls because of the maintenance issue.

Just a quick update for everyone - I just checked (Thursday 10:15am) and the system appears to be back online. I was able to log in and file my weekly claim. Looks like they fixed whatever the issue was.

Finally! But still no explanation or apology from them. Typical.

This happened last year when they were upgrading something in their system. I remember I couldn't file for almost 3 days but then they extended all the deadlines by a week. I think I even got an email about it afterward. Did anyone get any notification this time? I'm currently employed but just curious if they've improved their communication at all.

I had this problem last month too actually, but it was only down for like half a day. Is anyone else having trouble with the Money Network card site too? I'm wondering if it's related because I can't check my balance there either.

I haven't tried accessing the Money Network site, but now I'm curious. I'll check and report back.

Just tried and you're right - the Money Network site is giving errors too. Must be related.

For future reference: If you encounter system maintenance during your filing period, you have three options: 1. Wait for the system to come back online (usually 24-48 hours for emergency maintenance) 2. Call the UC service center (though busy signals are common during outages) 3. If your benefits are at risk due to approaching deadlines, you can submit a request for backdating through your dashboard once the system is back up PA UC typically extends filing deadlines automatically when there are system-wide issues, but it's always best to file as soon as possible once service is restored.

Wow, what a nightmare! I'm so glad I found this thread. I was panicking yesterday when I couldn't access the site - thought maybe my account got suspended or something. It's ridiculous that they don't send out any kind of notification when the system goes down. At minimum they should put up a banner on the homepage or send an automated email. Really appreciate everyone sharing their experiences and tips here, especially about the phone filing option and the deadline extensions. Going to sign up for those text alerts Paolo mentioned once everything is stable again!

I'm glad this thread helped ease your panic! I was in the exact same boat - first thought was that something was wrong with my account. It's really frustrating that PA UC doesn't have better communication protocols for these outages. Hopefully they'll improve that system along with their maintenance scheduling. The community here is definitely a lifesaver for situations like this!
