PA UC payment 'in progress' but no actual pay date - normal wait time?

My PA unemployment claim was finally reviewed and approved last week after dealing with an 'open issue' for nearly a month. My dashboard now shows the weekly benefit amount I'll receive ($375) and all the details look correct, but under payment date it just says 'in progress'. It's been showing this status since yesterday morning. Is this normal? Do pay dates usually update the same day or is there typically a waiting period between approval and when they assign an actual payment date? Getting nervous since rent is due soon and I was counting on this coming through. Anyone dealt with this recently?

This is totally normal. The "in progress" status usually means they've processed your payment but it's still in their system queue. For me it always changed to an actual date within 48 hours, then took another 2-3 business days for the money to hit my Money Network card. Don't worry!

Thank you! That's a relief. Do weekends count in that 48 hour timeframe or just business days?

It depends on when your claim was approved. If it was approved after the weekly payment processing cycle (which usually runs Tuesday night), it'll show "in progress" until the next cycle. I've seen it take anywhere from 1-3 business days to change from "in progress" to an actual pay date. Once you have a pay date, add 2 business days for direct deposit or 3-4 days for the Money Network card to be loaded.

That makes sense! It was approved on Thursday, so maybe it'll process in Tuesday's cycle. I'll try to be patient. Thanks for the detailed info!

The PA UC payment system is RIDICULOUS! Even after approval they make you wait and stress about when money will actually arrive. I was at "in progress" for 6 DAYS before getting a date, then another 4 days before money appeared. The whole system is designed to torture people who are already struggling!

While I understand your frustration, 6 days is unusually long. The standard processing time is typically 1-3 business days to move from "in progress" to a payment date, then 2-4 additional business days for funds to be available. If anyone experiences delays beyond this timeframe, there might be an additional issue that needs addressing with a UC representative.

If you're worried about the timing and need to talk to someone, I was in a similar situation last month. I used this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get through to an actual PA UC agent on the phone instead of dealing with busy signals all day. There's a video that shows how it works: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2. The agent I spoke with confirmed my payment was in process and gave me the exact date it would hit my account. Saved me a lot of stress!

Thanks for the tip! If it's still showing "in progress" by Friday, I might try that. Did they give you information you couldn't see online?

Yeah, the agent could see exactly where in the process my payment was and when it would post. The online system just shows basic status updates, but the agents can see everything happening behind the scenes.

I actually went thru this exact thing in January! My claim was approved on a Wednesday, showed "in progress" until Friday afternoon, then changed to a pay date of the following Tuesday. Money was in my account Wednesday morning. So about a week total from approval to money. Just keep checking your dashboard each morning - it'll update!

This is why I tell everyone to sign up for direct deposit instead of the Money Network card. Direct deposit is usually 1-2 days faster in my experience.

Yes, I filed my weekly certification on Sunday and got the approval message Monday morning. Then the claim info appeared but with the "in progress" status for the payment date.

To clarify the payment timeline for everyone: 1. Weekly certification filing (Sunday-Friday) 2. Claim processing (1-2 business days) 3. Status changes to "in progress" (payment is being processed) 4. Pay date assigned (1-3 business days after "in progress") 5. Funds available (2-3 business days after pay date for direct deposit; 3-4 days for Money Network card) So from weekly certification to money in your account typically takes 5-10 calendar days total, depending on weekends and which payment method you've selected. The system runs major payment batches on Tuesday and Thursday nights, which can affect timing as well.

This timeline is super helpful, thank you! Looks like I'm right in the middle of step 3-4. I'll expect to see movement in the next couple days then.
