PA UC payment switched from 'paid' to 'in process' status - no explanation on dashboard
I'm so confused about my PA unemployment right now. I got laid off from my retail position about 3 weeks ago and filed for UC immediately. The weird thing is the payment pattern. My first weekly claim was processed quickly and I got paid within 4 days. It showed 'paid' status on the dashboard and the money was on my Money Network card no problem. But now I'm freaking out because I filed my second weekly claim 5 days ago, and it's still stuck on 'in process' status with no payment. Nothing on my dashboard shows any issues or explanations for why it suddenly changed! Has anyone else had their payments go from working perfectly to suddenly stalling? There's no open issues listed or anything indicating a problem. Is this normal or should I be worried? My rent is due next week and I was counting on this payment coming through quickly like the first one did.

This is actually pretty common with PA UC. The first payment often processes quickly to get you into the system, then the second one can take longer as they do additional verification. As long as there's no open issue on your dashboard, you should be fine. It could take 7-10 business days for the second payment. If it goes beyond that, then I'd start trying to contact them.

•That's a HUGE relief to hear! I was panicking thinking I did something wrong on my weekly certification. Do you know if there's any way to check if they're doing extra verification? There's literally nothing showing up under issues or messages.

Ugh my claim did the EXACT same thing but eventually it went from in process to disqualified!!! They said I didnt report my last day of work correctly which was total BS. check ur email and dashboard CONSTANTLY cause if they determind theres an issue u only have 15 days to appeal. The system is so messed up right now!!!

•That's not the same situation at all though. A disqualification would show up as an open issue on the dashboard. The original poster specifically said there aren't any issues showing. A payment simply being in "in process" status for a few extra days is totally normal, especially for a second payment.

I had this exact issue in January. First payment was fast, second one got stuck 'in process' for almost two weeks. I finally was able to reach an agent by using Claimyr (claimyr.com) - they got me connected to UC in about 20 minutes when I'd been trying for days on my own. The agent told me my claim got flagged for a random quarterly review but there was no actual problem. They pushed it through while I was on the phone and I got paid the next day. You can see how it works here: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2

•I've never heard of that service before! Did you have to pay for it? I'm really hesitant to spend money when I'm already struggling, but if this goes on much longer I might get desperate enough to try anything.

•Yeah there is a fee but honestly it was worth it to actually talk to someone and get it fixed in one day versus waiting potentially weeks. Sometimes they just need to push a button on their end to release your payment if there's no actual issue with your claim.

Check if you entered your work search activities correctly. That's what caused my payment delay last month. If u don't enter the right number of work search activities the system can hold payment even if it doesn't tell u why.

•I thought I did them right - I put in 3 job applications with all the details they asked for. Do they actually verify each one or something? This is my first time ever being on unemployment so I'm not sure if I'm doing everything correctly.

•They don't verify every single work search activity, but they do random audits. For your reference, PA requires you to complete and document at least 3 work search activities per week (with at least 1 being a job application). If you've done this correctly, it's probably not the cause of your delay.

Its weird how everyones experience is different! I got laid off 2 months ago and ALL my payments have been quick like 2-3 days after filing. Maybe it depends on which office handles ur claim?

•It's more about claim complexity and random verification processes than physical office location. Simple claims with straightforward employment history tend to process quickly. Also depends on if your employer promptly responds to UC's verification requests.

UPDATE: My payment finally switched from 'in process' to 'paid' today - took 9 days instead of the 4 days my first payment took. Still no explanation for the delay, but I'm just relieved it's coming through. Thanks everyone for helping me not panic! For anyone else seeing this who has the same problem, looks like patience is the answer as long as there are no open issues showing.

•Great news! Glad it worked out. Keep in mind that payment timing can fluctuate throughout your benefit year, especially around quarter changes or if there are system updates. As long as you keep doing your weekly certifications correctly and meeting work search requirements, you should be fine.
