PA UC payments not received after 4 weeks - no debit card, no direct deposit

I lost my job at the end of June when they cut our entire department. I filed for PA unemployment on July 5th and have been filing my weekly claims religiously every Sunday since then. It's now been over 4 weeks, and I haven't received a SINGLE payment - no Money Network card, nothing through direct deposit, absolutely nothing. I registered with PA CareerLink on August 1st as required, uploaded my resume, and have been actively applying to jobs. My claim status just says 'active' but no money is coming through. The UC rep mentioned something about them sending a debit card first even though I signed up for direct deposit, but I haven't even received that! Is this normal processing time or is something wrong with my claim? This is my first time ever filing for unemployment in my 62 years and I'm getting seriously concerned about bills piling up. Any advice appreciated!

Unfortunately this is pretty common right now. It usually takes about 3-4 weeks to get your Money Network card in the mail, but I've heard of people waiting 6+ weeks recently. The system is backed up. As long as your claim shows 'active' and you're certifying each week, the payments should eventually arrive all at once when they process your claim. Did you receive your financial determination letter in the mail yet?

I did get a financial determination letter about 2 weeks ago. It showed my weekly benefit amount as $580 which seems right based on what I was making. But nothing after that. Just frustrating to keep filing every week with zero money coming in... Do you know if there's any way to check if my payments are being held for some reason?

ur supposed to get the money network card pretty quick after u start. sumthin might be wrong with your claim like an open issue. happened to me too and i had to wait 8 weeks!!!! the system is a mess

8 WEEKS? That's insane. Did you eventually get all your back pay? I'm worried I might have an open issue but I don't see anything indicating that when I log in.

So glad I found this thread. I'm in almost the same situation except I'm only on week 3 of waiting. Also 60+ and first time unemployed. This waiting is awful.

Hang in there. This happened to me last year, but my issue was that I had an 'open issue' on my claim that I couldn't see. Turns out they needed additional verification of my employment details. Have either of you checked your claim status for open issues? Look under the 'Claim Status' tab and see if there's anything that says 'Open Issue' or 'Pending Resolution'.

Getting through to PA UC on the phone is your best bet, but it's nearly impossible. I spent WEEKS trying and getting busy signals or disconnected. I finally used a service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that got me through to an agent in about 30 minutes. They have a video showing how it works here: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2 The agent I spoke with found an issue with my claims that wasn't visible in the portal - apparently my employment verification hadn't been processed correctly. Once they fixed it, I got all my back payments within a week. Definitely worth trying since you've already been waiting a month with no explanation.

Thank you for this! I've been trying the phone line every day this week and just get busy signals. I'm going to check out that service because I'm getting desperate at this point. Just need to know if something's wrong with my claim or if I just need to keep waiting.

I work as an employment counselor and see this situation frequently. Here's what you need to know: 1. The Money Network card is typically mailed 2-3 weeks after your first eligible week 2. Direct deposit usually activates after you receive the card, even if you selected it during initial filing 3. A claim showing as 'Active' is good, but doesn't guarantee payments are being processed 4. Most delays are caused by identity verification issues, employment separation issues, or work search verification I recommend: - Check your dashboard for correspondence or action items you might have missed - Verify all your work search activities are properly logged - Try calling UC early morning (7:45am) when lines first open - If you received your financial determination letter, that's a positive sign that your monetary eligibility is established Lastly, once resolved, you WILL receive all back payments you're eligible for, so continue filing weekly claims.

Thank you so much for this detailed information! I've been logging all my work search activities each week (applied to 5 jobs last week). I'll double check all my correspondence in case I missed something. I've tried calling early morning but still no luck getting through. Hopefully I can get this resolved soon.

THEY DO THIS ON PURPOSE!! Make u wait forever hoping you'll just give up and stop claiming!!! I waited 9 weeks last year and had to contact my state rep to finally get it fixed. The whole system is BROKEN and they don't care about people struggling to pay bills!!!!

I was thinking the same thing! My sister said I should contact our state representative too if it goes past 5 weeks. Did that really help get yours fixed?

Yeah my state rep office has a person who just handles UC issues all day. They got back to me in 2 days and my payments started the next week. The state rep offices have special contacts at UC that regular people can't reach.

Just to clarify something that might be causing confusion: The Money Network card replaced the old debit cards in PA last year. Some people still refer to them by the old name (US Bank ReliaCard), which can cause confusion when you're trying to track what you should receive. Also, it's worth checking if your mailing address is 100% correct in the system. I've seen cases where even a slightly wrong address caused the card to never arrive. You can verify this in your UC profile section. Lastly, have you checked your spam folder for emails from PA UC? Sometimes important notices end up there and you'd never know you needed to take action on something.

Good point about the address - I just double checked and it's correct in the system. I've been checking my spam folder religiously too. Nothing there from UC except the initial confirmation when I first filed. I did get the financial determination letter in the mail so at least I know they have the right address.

hey just wonderin did u get the quarterly report form? they send that out and if u dont reply to it they stop ur payments. happened to my cousin

No, I haven't received any quarterly report form that I'm aware of. Would that have come by mail or through the online portal? I'll check my dashboard again to make sure I haven't missed anything important.

The quarterly report wouldn't apply yet - that's only sent after you've been receiving benefits for a full quarter. Since you just filed in July, you wouldn't receive this until much later. This is often confused with the continued claim forms (weekly certifications) which you're already completing correctly online each Sunday.

Update on my situation since it was similar to yours - I finally got through to PA UC by phone this morning (took 3 days of trying), and they found that there was an employer response issue that wasn't visible on my portal. They were waiting for verification from my former employer, who never responded. The agent manually overrode it after verifying my information. They said my payments should process within 48-72 hours. So definitely try to get through to a live person, as there's likely something holding up your claim that you can't see.

That gives me hope! I'm going to keep trying to reach them. Did you try that Claimyr service you mentioned earlier or did you get through on your own? I'm seriously considering using it at this point since I've had no luck getting through on the regular line.

I used Claimyr and got through in about 25 minutes. Worth every penny considering I'd already wasted hours trying to call on my own. Just make sure you're prepared with all your claim info and ID verification ready when you get through.

I just got my first payment today after waiting almost 4 weeks! There wasn't even any explanation or anything - it just showed up as direct deposit. Never even got a card. So maybe yours will just appear suddenly too?

Drake

•

That's encouraging! Was your claim status just showing as 'Active' the whole time too? I'm hoping mine will just suddenly appear like yours did. I'm checking my bank account obsessively at this point.

Yep, just said 'Active' the whole time. Nothing changed on the portal at all, then suddenly money appeared in my account. The funny thing is I actually DID get through to someone on the phone yesterday who said there was nothing wrong with my claim, just processing delays. Then the money showed up today!

UPDATE: Thanks everyone for your help! I finally used Claimyr this morning and got through to an agent in about 30 minutes. Turns out there WAS an issue with my claim that wasn't showing on my dashboard. They had sent a request to my former employer for separation information, but it was sent to an outdated address. The agent verified my information over the phone and manually updated the status. She said I should receive all my back payments within 5-7 business days, and my Money Network card should arrive shortly after that. Such a relief to finally know what was happening! I'll update again when the money actually arrives.

That's great news! This is exactly why actually speaking to a representative is so important - there are often issues that aren't visible in the online portal. Glad you were able to get it resolved and hope your payments arrive quickly.

Congratulations on getting this resolved! This is such a perfect example of why people shouldn't give up even when the system seems broken. Your story will definitely help others in similar situations - the fact that employer separation info was sent to the wrong address and wasn't visible in your portal shows how many hidden issues can cause delays. Really glad you found this community and got the help you needed. Looking forward to hearing when your payments actually hit your account!

This gives me so much hope! I'm in week 5 of waiting with no payments and was starting to panic. Your experience shows that even when everything looks "normal" in the portal, there can still be hidden issues blocking payments. I'm definitely going to try Claimyr tomorrow morning - seems like it's the only reliable way to actually reach someone who can see what's really going on behind the scenes. Thanks for sharing your update and hopefully inspiring others not to give up!
