Can't get my PA UC Money Network card after 4 weeks - payment stuck on missing card?

Hey everyone, I'm in a really frustrating situation with PA unemployment. My claim was finally approved (took long enough!) and supposedly they sent my first payment to the Money Network debit card. The problem is I NEVER received any card in the mail! I still have my old ReliaCard from when I was on UC 2 years ago, but when I called the service number they said PA doesn't use those anymore and everything switched to Money Network. It's been 4 WEEKS since the payment was supposedly issued and I'm getting desperate. Rent is due and I can't access my benefits because I don't have this stupid card. Has anyone dealt with this? Do I need to request a card somehow or should it come automatically? The UC service center never answers when I call!

You need to contact Money Network directly to check on the status of your card. The number is 888-233-5916. PA UC automatically orders cards when the first payment is issued, but sometimes they get lost in the mail or there might be an issue with your address in the system. Call that number, verify your identity, and ask if a card was already mailed to you. If it was, you can request a replacement (which takes about 7-10 business days). Make sure your address is correct in both your UC account AND with Money Network.

Thanks for the number! I'll try calling them right away. Do you know if they can expedite shipping on a replacement? I'm literally about to miss rent payment because of this.

omg same thing happened 2 me!! waited 5 weeks before i figured out what to do. the card doesnt come automatically u have to request it from moneynetwork. so dumb they dont tell u this

That's actually incorrect. The PA UC system DOES automatically order your first Money Network card when they issue your first payment. I work for a nonprofit that helps people with unemployment issues. The problem is usually that the card gets lost in mail or there was an address error. Please don't spread misinformation as it makes things more confusing for people.

whatever dude thats what they told ME when i called. maybe they changed it

I've been trying to get through to PA UC for THREE DAYS about my missing card too!!! The system is complete garbage. Every time I call, I get a busy signal or it disconnects me. How are we supposed to survive when we can't even access our benefits?? This is beyond frustrating!!

If you're having trouble getting through to PA UC, I'd recommend using Claimyr. It's a service that helps you get through to an actual PA UC agent faster. I was skeptical at first but it worked for me when I had an open issue. You can see how it works here: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZWG3KiHrg2 or check out their website at claimyr.com. Saved me hours of frustration when I needed to resolve my card issue.

The switch from ReliaCard to Money Network has been a mess from the start. My benefits were delayed by 3 weeks because of this transition. When I finally got someone on the phone, they told me my Money Network card had been returned to sender because my apartment number was missing. Check if there was an issue with your mailing address. Also, while you're waiting for the new card, you can request direct deposit instead - login to your UC portal and set up your bank info. That way future payments go directly to your bank.

I didn't know I could switch to direct deposit while waiting! That's super helpful, thanks. I'm going to set that up right after I call Money Network. Do you know if they can transfer the current payment that's stuck on the card to my bank too?

Unfortunately, they can't transfer the money that's already been loaded to a Money Network card that you don't have. You'll still need to get the card for those funds, but at least future payments can go to your bank.

I just went through this exact issue last month! Here's what you need to do: 1. Call Money Network directly (888-233-5916) 2. Tell them you never received your card 3. Verify your current mailing address 4. Ask them to expedite the replacement (costs about $15 but WORTH IT) 5. While waiting, set up direct deposit on your PA UC portal for future payments The expedited card came in 3 business days for me. Regular replacement takes 7-10 days. Also, make sure you create your Money Network account online as soon as you get the card so you can track your payments!

This is exactly what I needed! Just got off the phone with Money Network and they confirmed my card was sent 4 weeks ago but to my old address (even though my UC account has my current address). They're sending a replacement with expedited shipping. And I've already set up direct deposit for future payments. THANK YOU!

One thing to be aware of: Money Network cards are mailed in very plain envelopes that look like junk mail. Many people throw them away accidentally. They don't say "unemployment" or anything obvious on the envelope. If you have access to your mail from 4 weeks ago, it might be worth checking if you received a plain white envelope with a Pennsylvania return address.

I definitely didn't throw it away - I've been watching my mail like a hawk waiting for it. Money Network confirmed they sent it to my old address that was in their system for some reason, even though my UC account has been updated with my new address. They're sending a replacement now.

U know whats INSANE about this whole system?? They expect us to wait WEEKS for these cards while we have bills due NOW. How are ppl supposed to pay rent when their benefits are stuck on some plastic card floating in the mail somewhere?? The whole system is designed to make it hard to get help when u need it. 😡

for real!! and then they make u jump thru hoops to prove ur still looking for work while they take their sweet time sending your $$. its a joke

Just following up - were you able to get this resolved? For others reading this thread with similar issues, here's a quick summary of solutions: 1. Always call Money Network directly for card issues (888-233-5916) 2. Consider paying for expedited shipping if you urgently need your benefits 3. Set up direct deposit for future payments through your UC portal 4. Make sure your address is current in BOTH systems (UC and Money Network) 5. If all else fails, contact your state representative's office for help with UC issues

Yes! Finally got it resolved. The replacement card arrived yesterday via expedited shipping (3 business days). All my benefits were there and I was able to transfer them to my bank account. Also set up direct deposit for future payments. What a relief! Thanks everyone for your help.

I'm so glad you got this sorted out! This thread is going to be super helpful for others dealing with the same issue. The PA UC to Money Network transition has been such a nightmare for so many people. One thing I'd add for anyone else reading this - if you're still having trouble getting through to Money Network's customer service, try calling early in the morning (like 8 AM) when they first open. The wait times are usually much shorter then. Also, keep your Social Security number and the last 4 digits of your phone number handy when you call - they'll need that info to verify your identity before they can help with your card status.

Great tip about calling early! I wish I had known that when I was dealing with my card issue. Another thing that helped me was having my claim number ready when I called - they asked for that too along with my SSN and phone number. It's crazy how many people have had problems with this Money Network transition. Seems like PA really should have communicated better about what to expect and how long things would take.

This whole thread is a perfect example of why PA really needs to overhaul their UC system! I went through something similar last year and it's ridiculous how many hoops you have to jump through just to access YOUR OWN benefits. One thing I'd add that helped me - if you're having issues with Money Network, you can also file a complaint with the PA Department of Labor & Industry's Bureau of UC Benefits Quality Control. They actually follow up on these complaints and can sometimes get things moving faster than going through the regular channels. The number is 717-787-3547. It shouldn't take filing a complaint to get your benefits, but sometimes that's what it takes to get someone's attention. Glad you got yours sorted out Ravi - hopefully this info helps the next person who runs into this mess!

That's really good to know about the complaint option! I had no idea there was a specific number for UC Benefits Quality Control. It's frustrating that it sometimes takes filing complaints to get basic services working, but at least there's another avenue when you're stuck. I'm definitely saving that number (717-787-3547) in case I run into issues again. Thanks for sharing that resource - I'm sure it'll help other people who end up in similar situations with missing cards or other UC problems.

Just wanted to jump in here as someone who works with unemployment claimants regularly - this Money Network card issue has become SO common since PA switched from ReliaCard. I've seen dozens of cases like yours in the past few months. A few additional tips that might help others: 1) When you call Money Network, ask them to email you a confirmation of your card replacement request - this gives you a tracking reference if you need to follow up. 2) If your card gets returned to sender due to address issues, Money Network will hold it for 90 days before canceling, so there's usually time to get it sorted. 3) Consider asking your landlord for a payment extension if possible - many are understanding about UC delays since they've become so common. Really glad to see you got yours resolved Ravi! This thread is going to be a lifesaver for other people dealing with the same nightmare.

This is such valuable advice, especially about asking for email confirmation of the replacement request! I wish I had known that when I was dealing with my missing card situation. The 90-day hold period is also really good to know - takes some of the panic out of it when you realize the money isn't just gone forever if there's an address mix-up. Your point about landlord extensions is spot on too. I was so stressed about rent but didn't even think to explain the situation to my landlord. Most people understand that UC has been a mess lately. Thanks for sharing your expertise - it's clear you really know what you're talking about from working with claimants regularly!

I'm dealing with a similar situation right now! My card was supposedly mailed 3 weeks ago but never arrived. Reading through all these responses is so helpful - I had no idea I could call Money Network directly or that I could set up direct deposit while waiting. The 888-233-5916 number and the tip about calling early in the morning are exactly what I needed. It's crazy how many people are having this same problem with the ReliaCard to Money Network transition. Going to try calling them first thing tomorrow morning with my SSN and claim number ready. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences and solutions!
