PA UC Money Network Card never arrived - how long to wait before reporting?
After 8 weeks of waiting with an 'open issue' on my PA UC claim, I finally got approved last Thursday! My claim summary shows my 1st payment was issued ($490) but I've heard nothing about the Money Network debit card. The UC website says they mail it automatically, but nothing has shown up yet. It's been 6 days. Do I need to call about this? How long does the card normally take to arrive? I've never collected unemployment before and honestly can't afford to wait much longer - rent is due next week and I'm getting nervous they sent it to the wrong address or something.

mine took like 2 weeks to show up. they send it regular mail, no tracking. give it a few more days.

•Thanks! Did yours come in a plain envelope? I'm worried I might have thrown it away thinking it was junk mail.

The Money Network cards typically take 7-10 business days to arrive after your first payment is issued. They come in a plain white envelope that looks like junk mail, so check carefully before throwing anything away. If you don't receive it by next Wednesday (that would be 2 full weeks), call the Money Network customer service at 888-233-5916 to report a lost/stolen card. They can tell you if it was mailed and when. They're usually easier to reach than the UC office. Also, once you get your card, I recommend setting up direct deposit for future payments - it's much faster and more reliable.

•That's super helpful info, thank you! I'll definitely wait until next Wednesday before panicking. And I didn't know about setting up direct deposit - will absolutely do that once I get the card.

Congrats on getting approved! I WAITED SIX WEEKS before they approved me and thought that was bad. 8 weeks?? PA unemployment is THE WORST!! If you need your money faster, you can actually call Money Network directly and pay for expedited shipping on a replacement card. Costs like $15 but might be worth it if you're desperate.

•I didn't know that was an option! I might do that if it doesn't come by Friday. Do you know if they take the $15 out of your benefits or do you need to pay with a credit card?

•Oh god I didn't even think to check that. Looking now... okay, the address is correct in the system. Phew! But good suggestion, thank you.

If you're in a real pinch waiting for the card, try using Claimyr to reach someone at PA UC directly (claimyr.com). I was in the exact same situation last month - approved but no card after 2 weeks. Used their service to get through to a rep who told me my card was returned to sender due to a USPS issue. They were able to reissue it while I was on the phone. They have a video that shows how it works: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2 But honestly, try waiting a few more days first - most cards do arrive within 10 business days. The Money Network folks can also tell you if it was returned.

•Has anyone else used that Claimyr thing? I'm always suspicious of services that claim to get you through to UC when their phone lines are always busy.

•I used it when my claim was stuck in pending for a month. It actually worked - got through to a real person in about 10 minutes. They don't guarantee they'll fix your problem, just that you'll get through to a rep.

also check ur mail SUPER carefully. the envelope is WHITE with blue writing that says Money Network but its realllly easy to miss. I almost threw mine away cuz it looked like a credit card offer.

•Thanks for the heads up! I'll dig through my mail stack again tonight.

One more thing to note - if you're approaching the 10-day mark and still haven't received your card, don't just keep waiting. PA UC won't automatically know there's a problem. You need to be proactive and call Money Network to report it missing. Once you report it missing, they'll deactivate the old card and send a new one, but that starts another waiting period. That's why it's important to track the timeline carefully.

•That makes sense. Today is day 6 since approval, so I'll wait until day 10 and then call Money Network if it hasn't arrived. Really appreciate everyone's help!

OMG I just remembered something important!!! When I got my first unemployment payment back in January, they put the FIRST payment on the card but then ALL my next payments were held until I did the ID.me verification!!! Did you complete that??? It's separate from just getting approved!!!

Jessica Nolan
•Yes, I did the ID.me verification during my initial application. That's actually what caused one of my open issues that took forever to resolve. But good looking out!

•Oh good! Just wanted to make sure cuz they don't tell you ANYTHING about the process and I learned everything the hard way!!! 😫

I went through the exact same thing in February. Card took exactly 12 days to arrive after my first payment was issued. Felt like forever but it did come eventually. Btw if you're really desperate for the money before the card comes, you can call Money Network once the card has been mailed and set up a one-time transfer to your bank account over the phone. There's a fee but it's an option.

•That's really good to know about the one-time transfer! I might do that if I can confirm the card has been mailed but isn't here yet. Thanks for the tip.

When my husband was on unemployment last year his card came exactly 9 days after approval. A few days later he got a separate letter with the PIN. So weird they don't send them together! Anyway hang in there, it's coming!

•Wait, there's a separate PIN letter too? This system is so confusing! Thanks for letting me know so I don't panic when I get the card but no PIN.
