PA UC Money Network card received but no funds loaded - weekly claims processed but payment missing

So frustrated right now!! I got my PA UC Money Network card in the mail about two weeks ago, activated it right away, and have been filing my weekly claims on time for the past 3 weeks. The system shows all my claims as 'processed' but there isn't a single penny on my card! When I check my payment history online, it just says 'in progress' with no actual payment dates. I've tried calling UC about 40 times but can't get through to anyone. Has anyone else had this problem with the money card? How long did it take for your first payment to actually hit your card after you started filing weekly claims? I'm getting really worried because rent is due next week and I was counting on this money.

This happened to me in January! The problem might be that you have an 'open issue' on your claim that's preventing payment even though your weekly claims are being accepted. Log into your UC account and check the 'Claim Summary' page - look for anything that says 'open issue' or 'unresolved issue'. In my case, they needed additional identity verification but never told me. I only found out when I finally got through to someone on the phone.

Thank you! I just checked and you're right - there's something that says 'open issue - employment separation' but it doesn't explain what that means or what I need to do about it. How did you finally get through on the phone??

when u got the card did u call the number on it to activate?? sometimes the automated system will tell u ur balance when u call that number. mine took 4 days after filing to get $ on it

Yes, I activated it right away and I've called the balance line every day. It always says $0.00 available. It's been 3 weeks since my first claim was processed though, not just 4 days :

What you're experiencing is actually pretty common. When there's an 'open issue - employment separation' it usually means they need to verify the reason you separated from your employer. Did you quit, get laid off, or were you fired? They need to determine if you're eligible based on your separation reason. This unfortunately can cause payments to be held while they investigate, even though you're able to file weekly claims. The system allows you to file claims so they're in the system, but won't release payment until the issue is resolved. You'll need to speak with an agent to find out exactly what documentation they need. They might need to contact your former employer or get additional information from you.

I was laid off due to lack of work. My employer told me they were filing something with UC to confirm this. Should I contact my employer to make sure they did this? It's so frustrating that I can't get anyone on the phone to tell me what's going on.

I had an open issue for 6 WEEKS before I got paid! The system is COMPLETELY BROKEN and they don't care at all about people who are struggling. I called 100+ times and never got through. Eventually mine just randomly fixed itself and the money appeared on my card with no explanation. RIDICULOUS!!

Omg 6 weeks?? That's insane! I can't wait that long. Did you do anything special that might have helped resolve it or did it really just fix itself?

I had the exact same problem back in February with my PA UC claim. After trying for days to reach someone, I found this service called Claimyr that got me through to an actual UC agent in about 30 minutes. It basically keeps dialing for you and puts you in line when there's an opening. Saved me from weeks of waiting! You can see how it works at https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2 and sign up at claimyr.com if you want. The agent was able to tell me exactly what my open issue was and resolved it while I was on the phone. Money was on my card two days later.

Does that actually work??? I thought those services were scams... did they ask for a lot of personal info or what?

It's not a scam - they just need your phone number to call you back when they get through to UC. They don't ask for any UC account info or anything like that. Worked perfectly for me and finally got my open issue fixed.

Thank you! I'm going to check this out right now. At this point I'd try anything to get this resolved.

Have u checked ur claim status under the dashboard? sometimes it shows more detail there than the payment history page. also make sure ur answering the weekly questions right - if u make a mistake on those it can hold up payment. double check that ur reporting any part time work correctly if u have any

I did check the dashboard and that's where I saw the open issue that someone else mentioned. I've been really careful with the weekly questions since I know one wrong answer can mess everything up. I haven't worked at all since being laid off so that part is straightforward at least.

If you do manage to get through to someone, make sure to ask them to backdate your payments to when you first filed. They should pay you for all the weeks that were delayed due to the open issue, as long as you filed your weekly claims correctly. Also ask if there's anything you can upload to your dashboard to help resolve the issue faster - sometimes they need documentation but don't tell you.

That's really good advice, thank you! I'll make sure to ask about backdating if I get through. I'm going to try that Claimyr service tomorrow morning.

why dont u just go to ur local careerlink office? they can sometimes help with uc issues and u dont have to wait on the phone. thats what i did when i had problems last year

This is partially correct, but CareerLink staff can't directly resolve UC claim issues - they're separate departments. CareerLink can help with job search requirements and general questions, but for claim-specific issues like payment holds or open issues, you still need to speak with an actual UC representative. Some CareerLink offices do have UC courtesy phones that might have slightly better connection rates than calling from home.

Thanks for suggesting this. There's a CareerLink about 30 minutes from me. If I can't get through on the phone I might try going there as a last resort.

Just checking in - were you able to get this resolved? I'm curious if you found out what the employment separation issue was.

Yes! I used that Claimyr service this morning and got through to someone in about 45 minutes. Turns out my employer had reported a different last day of work than what I put on my application. The agent was able to fix it while I was on the phone, and she said my payments should be processed in the next 2-3 business days. She also confirmed that I'll get all the back weeks paid at once. Such a relief!

That's awesome news! So glad you got it sorted out. It's crazy how something as simple as a date discrepancy can hold up everything for weeks. Definitely keeping Claimyr in mind if I ever have UC issues again - seems like it really works!
