I just got through to someone!!! They said there was a system-wide issue with direct deposits in the last batch and about 15% of claimants were affected. They're sending checks to everyone who was impacted. The person said checks are being mailed in batches and most should arrive within 7-14 days but they always say 3-4 weeks just in case of postal delays. Hope this helps people here!
Thank you for sharing this update! That's a relief to know it's a known issue at least. How did you manage to get through to someone?
I used that Claimyr service someone mentioned above - it actually worked! Got through to a person in about 15 mins after trying for days on my own.
UPDATE: My check arrived today - exactly 11 days after the status changed to processed! Much faster than the 3-4 weeks they quoted. For anyone else dealing with this, make sure your address is up to date in the system. Thanks everyone for the helpful advice and support!
One thing I haven't seen mentioned yet - check if you qualify for an overpayment waiver specifically for PUA. The Department of L&I announced a few months ago that they would be waiving certain non-fraud PUA overpayments, especially those resulting from documentation issues or misunderstandings during the pandemic. You may qualify depending on when you received benefits and why they determined there was an overpayment. Worth looking into in addition to the other options.
my brother had his wage garnished for unemployment overpayment so watch out for that too if u have a job
That's correct. If tax refund interception doesn't cover the full amount, PA UC can pursue wage garnishment, but they typically only do this after other collection attempts have failed. They must provide notice before beginning garnishment, and there are limits to how much they can take from each paycheck.
dont bother calling they never answer!!! been on UC for 6 months and NEVER got thru once!!! system is rigged to make people give up
That's why I finally tried that Claimyr service. I was skeptical but desperate after weeks of trying. Finally getting through to someone was worth it because they fixed my issue in literally 5 minutes once I explained what was happening.
When your payments do resume, they should include all the back weeks at once. Make sure you keep filing your weekly claims even while payments are delayed - if you stop filing, you'll have to reopen your claim which creates even more delays. Also, double-check that your payment method hasn't changed in the system. Sometimes the system randomly switches from direct deposit back to debit card or vice versa.
Here's the official situation: The Pennsylvania Treasury Department experienced a processing delay that has affected unemployment compensation paper checks issued between Monday and Wednesday this week. This is confirmed on their website under System Alerts (though it's not prominently displayed). If your payment status shows "payment issued," your check has been processed and is in the mail system. Most affected claimants should receive their checks by Monday or Tuesday. In the meantime: 1. Continue checking your mail daily 2. Don't request a replacement check until at least 7 business days have passed 3. Keep filing your weekly claims as scheduled despite this delay 4. Consider switching to direct deposit for faster, more reliable payments If Tuesday comes and you still don't have your check, then you should contact the UC service center for assistance.

my cousin works at a place that closed and they all got denied cause the employer said they were fired not laid off even tho the whole place shut down!!! make SURE they put the right reason for separation or you'll have to appeal

•This is an important point. When you file, make sure your separation reason is correctly listed as "Lack of Work" or "Layoff" rather than termination. If your employer contests this or provides incorrect information, you may need to appeal, which can delay benefits. The good news is that with a documented WARN Act closure, it's fairly straightforward to prove it was a layoff if you need to appeal.

•Pennsylvania actually eliminated the waiting week requirement permanently after the pandemic. There's no longer a waiting week in PA - you can receive benefits for your first week of unemployment if you're eligible. This change was made permanent in state law.
