What does 'In Progress' status under pay date mean on PA UC dashboard?
Hey everyone, I'm super confused about my PA unemployment payment. When I checked my dashboard today, it shows 'In Progress' under the pay date column instead of an actual date. My claim was approved last week and I've already filed my first weekly certification on Sunday. Is this normal? Does anyone know how long it usually stays 'In Progress' before an actual payment goes out? This is my first time on UC and I'm getting worried because rent is due next week. Thanks for any help!

in progress means ur payment is being processed by the system. usually takes 2-3 business days to change to a real date. then another day or 2 for the money to hit ur account. as long as u dont have any issues with ur claim u should be fine

•Thank you!! That's a relief. I was worried something was wrong with my claim. Will it automatically update to the payment date or do I need to keep checking back?

The 'In Progress' status is normal for new claims. It means your payment is being processed in the system. Since you filed on Sunday, it typically takes 2-3 business days for the status to change to an actual payment date. Once it shows a payment date, funds are usually deposited to your Money Network card or direct deposit account within 1-2 business days after that date. A few things to keep in mind: - First payments sometimes take longer than subsequent ones - If you have any open issues, this could delay payment - If nothing changes after 4-5 business days, you may want to contact PA UC to check

•This is so helpful, thank you! I don't have any open issues that I know of, so hopefully it will update soon. I chose direct deposit to my checking account - do you know if that's usually faster than the Money Network card?

I see this question a lot. 'In Progress' just means they've approved your weekly certification and are processing the payment. It's a good sign! Your payment is queued up in their system. Usually takes 2-3 business days to process, then 1-2 more days to hit your account. Direct deposit is typically faster than the Money Network card, in my experience. If you filed on Sunday, you should see a payment date by Wednesday or Thursday, and money in your account by Friday most likely. If you don't see any movement by Friday, then you might want to call to check if there are any issues.

If you're having trouble reaching someone at PA UC about your 'In Progress' payment status, I highly recommend using Claimyr. I was in the same situation last month - payment stuck in progress for days and couldn't get through on the phone. Used Claimyr and got a callback from a UC rep within an hour! They have a video that shows how it works: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2 Their website (claimyr.com) was super easy to use. The rep was able to see that my payment was actually held up due to an identity verification flag that didn't show on my dashboard. Got it resolved that same day and payment came through 2 days later.

•Thanks for the tip! I'll give it a few more days first, but if nothing changes I'll definitely check that out. The PA UC phone lines are impossible to get through on your own!

In progress means different things dpending on ur situation. when I had that last month it was bcuz they were reviewing my job search activities. turned out I didn't enter enough details about the jobs I applied to. had to verify some stuff then it went through. but my sister had the same thing and hers was just normal processing. maybe check if u have any open issues?? click on the issues tab in ur dashboard

•Just checked and I don't see any open issues! I did make sure to document all my job search activities really carefully when I filed, so hopefully that's not the problem. Thanks for the suggestion though!

OK SO I WENT THROUGH THIS LAST MONTH AND HERE'S WHAT THEY DON'T TELL YOU: "In Progress" can mean ANYTHING from normal processing to some hidden "issue" they don't bother telling you about! The system is DESIGNED to be confusing! Mine said "In Progress" for 2 weeks and I had to call 42 TIMES before getting through, only to find out they had some question about my previous employer that NEVER showed up on my dashboard! The PA UC system is BROKEN and they keep it that way ON PURPOSE to discourage people from collecting what they're owed!!! My advice: document EVERYTHING, keep calling, and don't trust the online system to tell you what's really happening with your claim!!!

•While there can definitely be frustrating issues with the system, most "In Progress" statuses do resolve normally within 2-3 business days, especially for straightforward claims. The dashboard doesn't always show every detail, but that doesn't mean there's a deliberate attempt to hide information. Sometimes it's just system limitations. That said, your advice about documentation is excellent - always keep records of everything related to your claim.

when I filed last year my first payment had the in progress thing too. I got nervous like you but then it changed to an actual date after about 3 days. then the money came the next day. don't worry too much unless it stays that way for more than a week

Just wanted to add - if you're new to UC, make sure you've completed ALL the required steps for your claim. Sometimes payments show "In Progress" when you still need to: 1. Verify identity through ID.me (if prompted) 2. Complete your work search activities 3. Register with PA CareerLink 4. Resolve any outstanding questionnaires Sometimes these requirements aren't super clear on the dashboard. But your case sounds like normal processing since you mentioned your claim was already approved.

•Update: You were all right! My payment status changed from "In Progress" to an actual date (5/19/2025) this morning. So it took about 3 business days just like most of you said. Thanks everyone for the help and keeping me from panicking! This forum is amazing.

That's awesome that it updated! Glad everything worked out for you. For anyone else reading this thread - William's experience is pretty typical. The "In Progress" status usually resolves within 2-4 business days for most people, especially on first payments. Just remember that if you ever run into issues where it stays "In Progress" for more than a week, that's when you should start reaching out to PA UC or using services like Claimyr that others mentioned. But most of the time it's just normal processing delays. Congrats on getting your first payment sorted out!

•Congrats William! This is such great news and really helpful for others who might be going through the same thing. I'm new to this whole UC process too and was actually getting worried about my own claim after reading some of the horror stories online. Your experience shows that the system does work most of the time, even if the waiting is nerve-wracking. Thanks for updating us - it's really reassuring to see a positive outcome!

Hey William, glad to see your payment went through! I'm actually in a similar situation right now - just filed my first weekly certification yesterday and seeing "In Progress" on my dashboard today. Reading through all these responses has been super helpful and reassuring. It sounds like 2-3 business days is pretty normal for the status to update. I was starting to worry something was wrong, but it seems like this is just how the system works for new claims. Thanks for posting this question - you probably helped a lot of other newcomers like me who are going through the same thing!

•Hey Connor! I'm glad this thread was helpful for you too. It's such a relief to know that the "In Progress" status is normal and not something to panic about. When I first saw it, I immediately started thinking the worst - that my claim was denied or there was some issue they weren't telling me about. But everyone here was right that it's just part of the normal processing. Hopefully your status updates in the next day or two like mine did! This community has been amazing for getting real answers from people who've actually been through it.

Just want to chime in as someone who's been on PA UC for about 6 months now - the "In Progress" status during your first payment is totally normal and nothing to stress about! I remember being in the exact same situation as you when I started. Filed on a Sunday, saw "In Progress" for the next few days, and was convinced something was wrong. What I've learned over time is that first payments almost always take a bit longer than subsequent ones because the system is essentially setting up all your payment processing info for the first time. After your first payment goes through successfully, future weekly certifications usually process much faster - mine typically change from "In Progress" to a payment date within 24-48 hours now. Since your claim is already approved and you don't have any open issues, you're in good shape. The fact that it's showing "In Progress" instead of "Pending" or some error message is actually a positive sign that everything is moving along normally. Hang in there - your payment should definitely come through before rent is due!

•This is really helpful to know Vincent! I'm also pretty new to UC (only been filing for about a month) and I didn't realize that first payments take longer than regular ones. That makes total sense though - the system has to set everything up initially. It's good to hear that after the first payment, the processing gets much faster. I was wondering if I'd have to deal with this 3-4 day wait every single week, but knowing it speeds up is reassuring. Thanks for sharing your experience with the ongoing process!

I've been through this exact same situation! When I first started getting UC benefits about 8 months ago, I had the same "In Progress" panic moment. Filed my certification on a Monday and it stayed "In Progress" for what felt like forever (but was really just 3 business days). What I wish someone had told me back then is that "In Progress" is actually a GOOD sign - it means your certification was accepted and approved, and now it's just in the payment queue. If there were any real problems with your claim, you'd typically see different statuses or get messages about issues that need to be resolved. Since you mentioned this is your first payment, just know that it might take slightly longer than future payments. The system has to process all your banking/payment method info for the first time. But once that's established, subsequent payments usually go much smoother and faster. You should definitely have your money before rent is due next week! And pro tip - once you get into the routine, most people find that filing early in the week (Sunday/Monday) gives you the most predictable timeline for when payments hit your account.

•Thanks Emma! This is exactly what I needed to hear. I keep refreshing my dashboard every few hours like that's going to make it process faster, but you're right that "In Progress" is actually positive - at least it's not showing any error messages or asking me to fix something. I really appreciate you taking the time to explain the whole process. It's so helpful to hear from people who've actually been through this multiple times. I'll try to be more patient and stop obsessively checking the status every hour!

I went through this exact same thing about 3 months ago when I first started on UC! The "In Progress" status had me checking my dashboard obsessively too. What I learned is that it's basically the system's way of saying "we got your certification and we're working on getting you paid." For me, it took exactly 3 business days to change from "In Progress" to showing an actual payment date, and then the money hit my direct deposit account the next day. So if you filed Sunday, you'll probably see a date by Wednesday or Thursday, and have money in your account by Friday. One thing that helped my anxiety was setting up text notifications through the PA UC system - that way you get an alert when your payment status changes instead of constantly checking. The waiting is definitely nerve-wracking when you have bills due, but from what I've seen in this community, "In Progress" almost always resolves normally within a few business days for straightforward claims like yours sounds to be.

•Harper, this is so reassuring! I'm actually in almost the exact same boat as William was - filed my first weekly cert on Sunday and have been staring at that "In Progress" status ever since. I didn't know about the text notifications feature - that's a game changer! I've been driving myself crazy refreshing the page multiple times a day. Going to set those up right now so I can stop obsessively checking. Thanks for the tip about the typical timeline too - knowing Wednesday/Thursday is normal for the status to change really helps manage expectations. This whole thread has been incredibly helpful for us UC newbies!

Just wanted to jump in here as someone who's been navigating PA UC for about a year now. The "In Progress" status is completely normal, especially for first-time filers! I remember having the exact same panic when I saw it on my dashboard initially. What's happening is that your weekly certification has been processed and approved, and now the payment is in the queue waiting to be issued. Since you filed on Sunday and your claim is already approved with no open issues, you're right on track for a typical processing timeline. From my experience and what I've observed in this community, first payments usually take 3-4 business days to move from "In Progress" to showing an actual payment date, then another 1-2 days for the funds to hit your account. So you should definitely have your money before rent is due! One tip: once you get your first payment sorted out, future weekly certifications typically process much faster - sometimes within 24-48 hours. The first one just takes longer because the system is setting up all your payment processing information. You're doing everything right, so try not to stress too much. The system may be slow, but "In Progress" is definitely a positive sign that everything is moving along normally!

•Aiden, thank you so much for this detailed explanation! As someone who's new to all of this, it's incredibly helpful to hear from people who've been through the whole process multiple times. I really appreciate you breaking down the timeline - knowing that 3-4 business days is normal for the first payment and that future ones process faster definitely puts my mind at ease. I was starting to wonder if I'd have to go through this anxiety every single week! It's also reassuring to know that "In Progress" means everything is actually moving forward normally rather than being stuck somewhere. This community has been amazing for getting real answers from people with actual experience. Thanks again for taking the time to help us newcomers understand how this all works!

I'm going through this exact same situation right now! Filed my first weekly certification on Monday and have been seeing "In Progress" since Tuesday morning. Reading through everyone's experiences here has been such a relief - I was starting to think something was wrong with my claim since it's been almost 48 hours. It's really helpful to see William's update that his status changed to an actual payment date after 3 business days. That gives me hope that mine should update by Thursday or Friday. I chose direct deposit too, so hopefully that'll be faster than the Money Network card like some people mentioned. Thanks to everyone who shared their timelines and experiences - this thread is exactly what newcomers like me need to see when we're panicking about our first UC payment!

•Kelsey, you're definitely not alone in this! I just went through the exact same thing last month as a first-time filer. That 48-hour mark is right when the anxiety really starts to kick in, but based on everyone's experiences here, you're still well within the normal timeframe. Since you filed Monday, Thursday/Friday sounds very realistic for seeing an actual payment date. The direct deposit should definitely be faster once it processes - I've heard good things about that option compared to the Money Network card. Try to hang in there! This waiting period is definitely the worst part of the whole process, but it sounds like you're on track for everything to work out normally.

I'm so glad I found this thread! I'm in the exact same boat as William was - just filed my first weekly certification yesterday and woke up to see "In Progress" on my dashboard this morning. I was immediately worried that something was wrong, but reading through everyone's experiences here has been incredibly reassuring. It sounds like 2-3 business days is pretty standard for first payments, and the fact that it shows "In Progress" rather than some kind of error message is actually a good sign. I also chose direct deposit, so hopefully that'll speed things up once it processes. Thanks to everyone who shared their timelines and advice - this community is such a lifesaver for those of us navigating UC for the first time! I'll try to be patient and stop refreshing my dashboard every hour (though let's be honest, I'll probably still check it way too often).

•Andre, I totally get that refreshing anxiety! I literally just went through this exact same thing two weeks ago as a first-time filer. I was checking my dashboard probably every 30 minutes for the first few days, convinced something was going wrong. But everyone here was absolutely right - mine updated to show an actual payment date on the third business day, just like clockwork. The "In Progress" status really is just their way of saying everything is moving along normally. Since you filed yesterday and chose direct deposit, you'll probably see a payment date by Thursday or Friday, then have the money in your account by early next week at the latest. Try to resist the urge to keep refreshing (easier said than done, I know!) - the status will update when it's ready, and checking constantly just makes the waiting feel longer. You're definitely on the right track!

I'm currently dealing with this same "In Progress" status situation! Filed my weekly certification on Sunday and it's been showing "In Progress" since Monday morning. Reading through this entire thread has been incredibly helpful - it's such a relief to see that this is completely normal for first-time filers and that most people see their status update within 2-4 business days. William's experience and update showing that his payment date appeared after 3 business days gives me a lot of hope. I also chose direct deposit, so I'm crossing my fingers that mine follows a similar timeline. What really stands out to me from everyone's responses is that "In Progress" is actually a positive indicator - it means the certification was accepted and the payment is just queued up in their system. I was starting to worry that it meant there was some hidden issue, but it sounds like that's just normal processing. Thanks to everyone who shared their experiences and timelines. This community is absolutely invaluable for newcomers like me trying to navigate the UC system for the first time. I'll try to be patient and stop obsessively checking my dashboard every few hours!

•Dylan, I'm literally in the exact same situation as you right now! Also filed on Sunday and have been staring at "In Progress" since Monday. This thread has been such a lifesaver for my anxiety - I was convinced I had done something wrong or that my claim had issues. It's so reassuring to see William's success story and everyone else confirming that 2-4 business days is totally normal. I'm so grateful I found this thread! I just filed my first weekly certification this morning and was already starting to panic when I saw "In Progress" appear on my dashboard this afternoon. I thought maybe the system processed things instantly and something was wrong when I didn't see an actual payment date right away. Reading through William's original question and everyone's responses has been incredibly reassuring. It's clear that "In Progress" is just part of the normal process, especially for first payments. The timeline everyone's describing (2-4 business days to show a payment date, then 1-2 more days for the money to hit your account) actually makes total sense when you think about it - there's a lot of processing that has to happen behind the scenes. I also chose direct deposit, so I'm hoping that'll help speed things up once the payment processes. This community has been such a valuable resource for understanding what to expect. Thanks to everyone who took the time to share their experiences - it really helps us newcomers feel less anxious about the whole process!

•I'm going through this exact same thing right now too! Filed yesterday and seeing "In Progress" today. This whole thread has been such a huge help - I was literally about to call the PA UC line thinking something was broken with my claim. It's amazing how much better you feel when you realize this is just the normal process and not some kind of error. The timeline breakdown everyone provided is super helpful too. I'm also using direct deposit, so fingers crossed we all see our payment dates update in the next couple days! Thanks to William for asking the question that so many of us newcomers needed answered.

Just want to add my experience to help reassure anyone else going through this! I was in the exact same situation about 2 months ago - first time filing, saw "In Progress" and immediately started panicking that I had messed something up. What I learned is that "In Progress" basically means your weekly certification was successfully submitted and approved, and now you're just waiting for the payment system to catch up. Think of it like when you order something online - your order is confirmed and being processed, but it takes a few business days to actually ship. My first payment took exactly 4 business days to go from "In Progress" to showing an actual payment date, then the money hit my direct deposit account the very next day. Every payment since then has been much faster - usually 1-2 business days max. The waiting is definitely stressful when you have bills coming up, but based on everything I've seen in this community, if your claim is approved and you don't have any open issues (which William confirmed he doesn't), the "In Progress" status resolves normally 99% of the time. You're doing everything right - just hang tight!

•Thanks Luca! Your ordering analogy really helps put this in perspective - that's exactly what this feels like. I'm currently on day 2 of "In Progress" status after filing my first certification on Monday, and reading everyone's experiences here has been so calming. It's really helpful to know that your subsequent payments processed much faster after the first one. I was wondering if I'd have to deal with this 3-4 day wait every single week! The fact that you had success with direct deposit and got your money the day after the payment date appeared gives me a lot of hope. This community has been amazing for helping newcomers like me understand what's actually normal vs. what's cause for concern.
