PA UC open issue changed to 'claim review complete' but still showing - will I get paid?

Super confused about my PA unemployment status right now! Last week I noticed I had 1 claim issue on my account. I managed to get through to someone at the UC office (took like 2 hours of redials 😠) and they told me they'd work on resolving it, and afterward I'd either continue getting benefits or be disqualified. Fast forward a few days - yesterday I checked my portal and saw that the status changed from "under review" to "claim review complete" BUT the open issue is still showing on my dashboard. The weird thing is when I filed my weekly claim today, it said I should expect payment instead of telling me to call unemployment like it did last week. Does anyone know if this means I'll actually get paid this week? Or is the system just glitchy and I'll end up disappointed? Really need this money for rent due next week!

That's a relief to hear! Did you have to do anything extra or it just worked itself out?

This is very common with PA UC's system. When your weekly certification says 'expect payment' it's usually a good sign. The dashboard often lags behind the actual claim status. Since a UC rep told you they were reviewing it, and now it shows 'claim review complete,' this typically means they've resolved it in your favor but the system hasn't fully updated to remove the open issue flag on your dashboard. You should receive your payment in 2-3 business days. If you don't receive it by then, that would be the time to contact them again. Also, I recommend checking your payment history tab - sometimes that updates before the dashboard does.

Thank you so much for the detailed explanation! I'll check the payment history tab and give it a few days before panicking.

Not necessarily true. I had a similar situation in March and even though it said to expect payment, I didn't get anything for 3 more weeks! The system is BROKEN. 'Claim review complete' could mean ANYTHING - they could have decided against you but not updated everything. Nobody at PA UC communicates with each other!

DONT GET YOUR HOPES UP!!! I wont sugar coat this. PA unemployment is a DISASTER and their systems rarely match up with reality. My dashboard has been showing an open issue for 6 weeks even though I've been getting paid! Then suddenly last week my payment stopped with NO explanation! Tried calling 53 TIMES yesterday and couldn't get through. The whole system is designed to frustrate us into giving up!!!!!

yikes sorry to hear that. so frustrating

Oh no, that's exactly what I'm afraid of... I really can't afford any payment gaps right now 😟

I had this exact situation in January. For me, the payment went through normally when it said 'expect payment' even though the dashboard still showed an open issue. The online system is notorious for not updating all screens at the same time. If you need to get through to an agent again (which I don't think you will based on what you've described), I recommend using Claimyr (claimyr.com). I was skeptical at first but their service actually worked for me when I needed to talk to someone about a different issue later. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2

This happens all the time. My sister works for UC (not in claims dept tho) and she says their computer systems are from like 1995 lol. Different parts update at different times. If it says expect payment that's usually good. Doesn't make sense they would tell you to expect money if they disqualified you

Funny how they always blame 'computer systems' but never fix anything! Been this way for YEARS! 🙄

Update: You guys were right! The money hit my account this morning even though the dashboard STILL shows the open issue. So weird but I'm not complaining! Thanks for all your help and reassurance when I was freaking out.

Great news! Thanks for updating us. For future reference, this is pretty common with PA UC - the 'expect payment' message is usually the most reliable indicator, even when other parts of the system show conflicting information.

So glad to see this worked out for you! This is exactly why I always tell people not to panic when PA UC's dashboard shows confusing information. Your experience is a perfect example of how their different systems don't sync up properly. The "expect payment" message really is the most reliable indicator - I've seen this same pattern play out dozens of times in this community. Thanks for coming back to update us with the good news! Stories like yours help other people going through the same stress.

Yes, this is such a helpful reminder! I'm new to this whole UC system and seeing real examples like Emma's really helps calm the nerves. It's good to know that "expect payment" is the key thing to watch for, even when everything else looks messy on the dashboard. Thanks for sharing that insight about the different systems not syncing - makes so much more sense now why it's so confusing!

This is such a great example of why this community is so valuable! Emma, I'm really glad everything worked out for you. Your story perfectly illustrates what so many of us go through with PA UC's confusing system. The fact that you got paid even with the dashboard still showing the open issue is classic PA UC behavior - their backend processing and frontend display are clearly not in sync. For anyone else reading this who might be in a similar situation, Emma's experience shows that the "expect payment" message during weekly certification really is the most reliable indicator to trust. Thanks for taking the time to update us with the positive outcome - it gives hope to others dealing with the same stressful situation!

Absolutely agree! This thread has been so educational for me as someone who's been struggling to understand PA UC's system. Emma's journey from panic to relief really shows how misleading their dashboard can be. I love how this community comes together to share real experiences instead of just speculation. The detail about "expect payment" being the most reliable indicator is going to save me so much stress in the future. It's stories like this that make me feel less alone in navigating this confusing system!

This whole thread is so reassuring! I'm dealing with a similar situation right now - my claim review just changed to "complete" yesterday but I still see the open issue flag. Reading Emma's experience and seeing that she actually got paid gives me hope. It's crazy how inconsistent PA UC's system is - like everyone's saying, different parts seem to update at completely different times. I'm going to focus on what the weekly certification says when I file tomorrow rather than stressing about the dashboard. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences, especially Emma for coming back with the update!

This thread has been incredibly helpful to read through! I'm fairly new to PA UC and was starting to panic about some inconsistencies I'm seeing in my own account. Emma's story really shows how unreliable their dashboard can be compared to the actual processing status. The key takeaway about trusting the "expect payment" message over dashboard flags is gold - I'll definitely remember that for my own claims. It's also encouraging to see how supportive this community is in helping each other navigate such a confusing system. Thanks to everyone who shared their experiences and advice!

I'm also relatively new to dealing with PA UC, and seeing Emma's complete journey from confusion to resolution really helps put things in perspective. Just wanted to add my voice to everyone thanking Emma for sharing this experience and following up with the positive outcome! I'm dealing with PA UC for the first time after being laid off last month, and honestly their system is so confusing that I've been second-guessing everything. Reading through this whole thread has been incredibly reassuring - especially learning that the "expect payment" message is the most reliable indicator to trust. It's wild how their dashboard can show conflicting information like that, but at least now I know what to focus on. This community has already been such a huge help in my first few weeks navigating all this. Thanks to everyone who takes the time to share their real experiences instead of just guessing!
