PA UC claim showing zero issues but still 'in progress' - Will payments release automatically?

Logged into my PA unemployment account this morning and noticed something weird. The open issue that was holding up my claim now shows as '0' issues, but my claim status still says 'in progress' instead of approved. I've been waiting 3 weeks for this to resolve and really need the money soon. Do I need to call the UC office to get my payments released, or will the system automatically update overnight? I'm worried if I don't call, it'll stay stuck like this for another week. Anyone had this happen before?

This is actually normal! When your issues clear, the system takes 24-48 hours to fully process and release payments. Your claim should update to 'approved' and payments should process automatically - no phone call needed. If nothing changes by Wednesday morning, then I'd recommend trying to reach someone.

Thank you so much! That's a relief. I'll check again tomorrow morning and Wednesday before panicking.

Same thing happened with my claim last month. My issue went to zero but it took 2 days for the payment to actually hit my Money Network card. I was checking like every hour lol. The status changed overnight to approved and then another day for the money to show up. The waiting is the worst part especially when you really need it.

Thanks for sharing your experience! Did you have to do anything to trigger the payment or it just happened automatically?

Nope, didn't have to do anything. Just waited and it processed on its own. Just keep filing your weekly claims while you wait!

DONT TRUST THE SYSTEM!!! My claim did the same thing last year - showed 0 issues but stayed 'in progress' for TWO WEEKS before I finally got through to someone!!! They said there was a 'hidden issue' that wasn't displaying on my portal!!! You NEED to call them ASAP or you'll be waiting forever!!!

While this can occasionally happen, it's actually quite rare. Most claims with 0 issues showing will automatically process within 2 business days. Calling unnecessarily just ties up the phone lines for people with actual issues that need resolution.

NOT TRUE!!! The system is BROKEN!! I waited and NOTHING happened until I called!!

If you do need to call, good luck getting through. I spent 3 days trying to reach a PA UC rep last month when this happened to me. I finally used a service called Claimyr that got me through to an agent in about 20 minutes. They have a demo video at https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2 that shows how it works. The agent confirmed my payments were about to be released but had been stuck in final verification. Worth checking out at claimyr.com if you can't get through by Wednesday.

Yeah, it really did. I was skeptical too but was desperate after getting busy signals for days. Got me through to a live person who fixed my claim right away.

Here's what's happening in your claim: When issues clear in the system, there's an automated batch process that runs overnight to move claims from 'in progress' to 'approved' status. This batch typically runs between 11pm-2am. Once the status changes to approved, payments generally process within 1-2 business days. The good news is that when your issue count shows zero, it means the examiner has resolved whatever was holding up your claim. I recommend waiting until tomorrow morning before trying to call. About 90% of claims in your situation resolve automatically without any intervention needed.

That's so helpful to understand the technical side of what's happening! I'll definitely wait until tomorrow morning then. This waiting game is just so stressful when bills are due.

Completely understand. If your status doesn't change by tomorrow afternoon, then calling would be appropriate. Make sure you have your claim confirmation number ready when you call.

There have actually been some system improvements rolled out in early 2025. Processing times for standard issues have decreased by about 40% according to the PA UC dashboard stats.

UPDATE: You guys were right! Just checked this morning and my status changed to 'approved' overnight! The payment is now showing as processed with an estimated deposit date of tomorrow. Thanks to everyone who helped calm me down and explained how the system works!

Great to hear! This is the normal process for most claims once issues are cleared. Make sure you continue filing your weekly claims on time to keep payments flowing smoothly.

Congrats Sean! This is such great news. Your post actually helped me understand what to expect with my own claim that just cleared its issues yesterday. Really appreciate you coming back to update everyone - it gives hope to those of us still waiting!

This is really encouraging to see! I just had my claim issues clear yesterday and was starting to panic when nothing changed overnight. Reading through everyone's experiences here, especially your update Sean, gives me hope that the system is actually working as it should. Going to wait the full 48 hours before calling. Thanks for sharing your journey - posts like this are so helpful for newcomers like me who don't know what's normal!

Welcome to the community! I'm glad this thread was helpful for you. The waiting period after issues clear is definitely nerve-wracking, especially when you're new to the process. Sean's experience is pretty typical - most claims do process automatically within that 48-hour window. Just remember to keep filing your weekly claims while you wait, and if nothing changes by Thursday morning, that's when I'd consider calling. Good luck with your claim!

Just wanted to add my experience for anyone else going through this - I had the exact same situation about 6 weeks ago. Issue count went to zero on a Monday, claim stayed "in progress" until Wednesday morning, then switched to approved and payment hit my account Thursday. The automatic processing really does work, but those 48 hours feel like forever when you're stressed about money. Hang in there everyone who's waiting - the system has definitely gotten more reliable this year!

Thanks for sharing your timeline Malik! It's so helpful to hear from people who've been through this recently. That Wednesday morning update seems to be pretty consistent based on what everyone's saying here. I'm on day 1 of waiting after my issues cleared, so knowing that Wednesday is when things typically flip to approved really helps manage expectations. Really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience for those of us still in the waiting phase!

Had this exact same situation happen to me back in January! My claim showed 0 issues on a Friday afternoon but stayed "in progress" all weekend. I was totally panicking because I needed the money for rent. Sure enough, Monday night the status flipped to approved and I had my payment by Wednesday. The automated processing really does work - it's just that the waiting feels endless when you're broke and stressed. Sean's update is perfect proof that patience pays off. For anyone else in this boat, try to distract yourself for those 48 hours instead of refreshing the page every 10 minutes like I did!
