PA UC approved but still have 4 open issues from past jobs - will I get paid?
I'm super confused about my PA unemployment situation. I got approved for benefits (the letter says I'm eligible!) but my dashboard shows 4 open issues related to previous jobs I worked at. Does anyone know if I'll still get my payments with these open issues? Or do all issues need to be cleared first? I've been calling the UC office every day for TWO WEEKS but it's ALWAYS busy - literally can't get a human no matter what time I call. Starting to panic about bills... has anyone dealt with this before? I thought once you got the eligibility letter you were good to go!

same thing happened to me last month. Open issues doesn't always mean you wont get paid, depends what the issues are. Some are just verification things that dont hold payment

•Really? That gives me hope! How long did yours take to resolve? And did you have to do anything or did they just eventually clear them?

If your determination letter specifically says 'financially eligible,' that's only the first step - it means you earned enough in your base year to qualify for benefits. The open issues are separate and need to be resolved before payments start. They're probably verifying information with your previous employers about why you're no longer working there. This is normal but unfortunately can delay payments.

•Thanks for explaining! The letter does say financially eligible. So even though I'm approved I still have to wait for them to check with my old jobs? That could take forever! Is there anything I can do to speed this up?

The PA UC system is DESIGNED to frustrate people into giving up! I had 6 open issues and waited 11 weeks for payment!!! They never contacted me, never explained anything, then one day BOOM money appeared. The system is broken on purpose - they hope you'll just give up and stop claiming. KEEP FILING YOUR WEEKLY CLAIMS no matter what!!!!

•this is NOT true. i work with employment law. the system is overwhelmed but not malicious. issues take time to resolve because employers have time to respond to claims. keep filing weekly but don't spread misinformation

After weeks of busy signals, I finally got through to PA UC using Claimyr last week. It costs a bit but saved my sanity - they connected me to an agent in 20 minutes after I spent days trying on my own. The agent was able to tell me exactly what my open issues were and gave me an estimate of when they'd be resolved. Definitely worth it for peace of mind: claimyr.com - you can see how it works here: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2

Let me clarify a few things based on my experience as a PA UC claimant who went through something similar: 1. "Financially eligible" means you qualify based on your earnings history 2. Open issues typically relate to the reason for separation from your employers 3. You should absolutely continue filing weekly claims while issues are pending 4. When resolved, you'll receive all back payments you qualified for 5. Open issues don't automatically mean disqualification - they're just investigating My recommendation: Keep detailed records of all your communication attempts. If you're able to reach a representative, ask specifically what each open issue is about so you can address them directly. Some issues resolve automatically once an employer fails to respond within their timeframe.

•Thank you so much for breaking this down! I'll definitely keep filing weekly claims. The frustrating part is not knowing what the issues even are or how long they'll take to resolve. I guess I just have to be patient and keep trying to reach someone.

UPDATE: I found letters in the correspondence section explaining 2 of the 4 issues! They were waiting for info from 2 employers. Then I tried that Claimyr service someone mentioned and got through to an agent! She told me the other 2 issues were just routine verification that wouldn't hold payment. My payment should process next week! Thank you all for the help!!

•Great news! This is exactly why checking the correspondence section is so important - the PA UC system often sends notices there without mailing physical copies. Glad you were able to get through to someone and get answers!

That's such a relief to see your update! Your experience is a perfect example of why it's so important to check all the resources available and not give up. The correspondence section is definitely a hidden gem that many people don't know about. And it sounds like Claimyr really delivered on getting you connected to an actual human being. Hoping your payment comes through as expected next week! This whole thread will be super helpful for others dealing with similar situations.

•This whole thread has been so educational! I'm new to PA unemployment and had no idea about the correspondence section - that's going to save me so much confusion if I ever need to check on issues. It's also reassuring to see that open issues don't automatically mean you won't get paid. Thanks to everyone who shared their experiences and tips!

So glad you got everything sorted out! Your story gives me hope because I'm dealing with something similar right now - got my eligibility letter but have 3 open issues showing on my dashboard. I've been panicking thinking I wouldn't get paid at all. Reading through this thread, it sounds like the key things are: 1) keep filing weekly claims no matter what, 2) check that correspondence section (never knew it existed!), and 3) don't assume open issues mean automatic denial. Thanks for sharing your journey and the update - it's super helpful for those of us still waiting!

•Yes, exactly those three points! I was so stressed thinking the open issues meant I'd never see a penny. The correspondence section was a game changer - I found so much information there that I didn't even know existed. And definitely keep filing those weekly claims because when everything gets resolved, you'll get all the back pay you're owed. Hang in there, it sounds like you're on the right track! The waiting is awful but it does eventually work out.
