PA UC claim status 'in review' with payment 'in progress' - what's the timeline?
I'm really confused about my PA unemployment status right now. When I check my claim online, it shows as "in review" but then when I look at my payment information, it says "in progress." Does anybody know what this actually means? Are these conflicting statuses or is this normal? I filed my initial claim 11 days ago and have done 2 weekly certifications since then. I'm trying to figure out if I should expect money soon or if there's still a long wait ahead. My bills are piling up fast after being laid off from construction work last month... any insights from people who've seen these statuses before?

the in progress is actually a good sign! mine was stuck on in review for like 3 weeks then changed to in progress and i got paid 4 days later

•Really?? That gives me some hope! Did you have to call them at all or did it just update automatically?

•While "in progress" typically means your payment is being processed, don't get too excited yet. "In review" for your claim could mean there's still an eligibility issue being examined. The two statuses can exist simultaneously because your weekly certification might be processed while the overall claim is under review. If you don't see payment in 5-7 business days, you should contact PA UC to check if there's a specific issue holding things up.

In" review "and in" progress are two different parts of the PA UC claim "process. In" review refers to your overall claim eligibility which can take 2-3 weeks "currently. In" progress specifically means the payment processing has begun for weeks'you ve certified, which is actually a positive sign. Most claimants see funds within 2-4 business days after the payment status changes "to in" progress, assuming there are no other issues with your claim. Make sure you continue filing your weekly certifications on time, even if you'haven t received payment yet. The system will backdate payments to eligible weeks once your claim is fullyapproved.

•Thank you for breaking this down! So if I'm understanding correctly, the fact that it says "in progress" for payment means they've started processing the money, even though they're still reviewing my overall claim? That's better news than I thought.

DONT GET TOO EXCITED!! Mine said "in progress" for THREE WEEKS before they flagged it for "additional verification" and I had to upload a bunch more documents!!! The PA unemployment system is designed to DELAY payments as long as possible!!! They play these games to save money!!!!

•Oh no, that sounds awful! Did you eventually get your payments or are you still waiting? What kind of additional documents did they ask for?

•I finally got paid but it took SEVEN WEEKS total!! They made me upload identity verification through ID.me (which was a nightmare) and then paystubs from my last employer! They'll find ANY reason to delay!!!

I was in this exact situation back in February. My claim was "in review" but payments said "in progress" for about a week. I was going crazy trying to get through to someone on the phone to explain what was happening. I finally discovered Claimyr (claimyr.com) which got me connected to a UC rep in about 20 minutes instead of spending days calling. They have a video that shows how it works: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2 The rep explained that "in progress" means they've started processing my payment but were still finalizing some verification on my overall claim. I got paid 3 days later. If you're stressed about the wait and need clarity, getting through to a live person really helped me understand my exact situation.

•Thank you for sharing this! I've been trying to call for days and just get busy signals. I'll check out that service if I don't see any updates by Friday.

my sister works for the state (not unemployment but different department) and she told me that there system is really old and sometimes shows different status messages that don't match up right. she said as long as somethings moving forward and changing status that's usually good news. hope that helps

•This is accurate. The PA UC system actually uses multiple interconnected databases that don't always sync in real-time. The claim eligibility system and the payment processing system are separate, which is why you can see different statuses for your overall claim versus the payment processing. As long as you're seeing status changes, your claim is actively being worked on.

UPDATE: You guys were right! Just checked my account and the money hit my Money Network card this morning! Just wanted to update in case anyone else has the same confusion I did. Took exactly 14 days from initial filing to payment. Thanks for all the help and explaining the different statuses!

•Great news! Just remember to continue filing your weekly certifications on time, and make sure you're completing the required work search activities (applying to at least two jobs and completing one work search activity per week). Document everything in case you're selected for a random audit.

Congratulations Carmen! This is such a relief to see a success story. Your timeline of 14 days from filing to payment is really helpful for others to know what to expect. I'm currently in a similar situation - filed 8 days ago and seeing "in review" with "in progress" for payments. Your update gives me hope that I'm on the right track. Thanks for coming back to share the good news with everyone!

•@Carmen Ortiz Thanks for sharing your timeline! I m'also in construction and got laid off recently, so this is really encouraging to see. Did you have to do anything special during those 14 days or just wait it out? I m'at day 6 with the same status combo and getting anxious about my rent payment coming up.
