How long does PA UC review typically take? Been waiting 3 weeks for a decision

My PA unemployment claim just got flagged for review last month and it's my first time dealing with this. My regular biweekly payments stopped coming, and when I logged into my account it just says "under review" with no explanation. I've been trying to call for 3 weeks straight but can't get through to anyone who can tell me what's happening or how long this might take. I'm getting really worried because rent is due soon and I don't have much savings left. Has anyone gone through a UC review recently? How long did yours take to get a decision? Is there anything I can do to speed up the process? Any help would be seriously appreciated because I'm starting to panic a little.

Mine was under review for about 4 weeks before I got a decision. They were checking my employment history because my former employer contested my claim. Just keep filing your weekly certifications even though you won't get paid until the review is complete. If your claim is approved, you'll get all the back payments at once.

Thanks for the info! Did you try calling them during those 4 weeks? I'm wondering if there's any benefit to keep trying to get through on the phone lines.

0 coins

it depends on why ur under review. if its bout wages or employer dispute it can take 4-6 weeks. if its identity stuff could be faster like 2 weeks. did u get any mail or notices? check ur dashboard messages section too, sometimes they ask for more info there

I haven't received any physical mail yet, but that's a good point about checking the dashboard messages. I'll look there right now. My former employer is pretty cool so I don't think they would contest anything, but who knows.

I HATE the review process!!! It took them SIX WHOLE WEEKS to review my claim back in January!!! And you know what the issue was? They claimed I didn't do enough work search activities one week even though I DID and uploaded proof!!! This system is BROKEN and they don't care about people who are suffering!! I had to take out a payday loan just to survive while waiting!!!

0 coins

Sorry you went through that. The work search requirements can be confusing. Did you make sure to complete at least 2 qualified work search activities each week? Some people don't realize that just looking at job postings doesn't count as an activity unless you actually apply.

After trying to call the PA UC customer service for weeks with no luck, I discovered a service called Claimyr that helped me get through to an actual person at unemployment. It basically holds your place in line so you don't have to keep redialing yourself. I was skeptical but it actually worked and I was able to speak with someone who explained my review status. There's a video that shows how it works: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2 and their website is claimyr.com if you want to check it out.

That sounds really helpful! I'm getting desperate enough to try anything at this point. Did they tell you how much longer your review would take when you finally got through to someone?

0 coins

Yes, when I got through they actually told me exactly what was causing the review (missing wage information) and estimated it would take another 7-10 days. At least knowing what was happening and having a timeline made the waiting easier. They also put a note in my file that I had called about it, which supposedly can help move things along.

Just went thru this last month! Mine was under review for exactly 5 weeks and 2 days. Keep filing your weekly claims! If approved they'll pay everything retroactively. Make sure you're still doing your work search activities too because if you stop doing those while waiting you could get disqualified.

Reviews can take anywhere from 2-8 weeks depending on the complexity of your case and current department workload. Here are some things that might help: 1. Make sure you've uploaded any documents they've requested 2. Continue filing your weekly certifications on time 3. Check both your portal messages and physical mail regularly 4. If you have a financial hardship due to the delay, note that when you eventually speak with a representative as they can sometimes expedite cases The most common reasons for reviews are employer disputes, wage verification issues, work search compliance, and identity verification. Without knowing which type of review you're under, it's hard to give a more specific timeline.

Thanks for the detailed response. I checked my dashboard messages and found a notification from last week asking for my last two pay stubs! I didn't even know it was there. I just uploaded them - hopefully that will speed things up.

0 coins

That's great that you found the notification! Yes, responding to document requests promptly is critical to moving your claim forward. Now that you've submitted the pay stubs, the review should progress. Give it about 7-10 business days for processing, then check your status again. If nothing changes by then, that's when trying to reach a representative would be your next step.

my cousin had something similar happen and his took like 2 months but my neighbor got hers resolved in just a couple weeks so i think it really just depends on what theyre reviewing tbh

UPDATE: I was able to use that Claimyr service that someone recommended here and actually got through to a UC rep yesterday! They said my claim was under review because my employer reported different quarterly wages than what I had entered. The rep said now that I've uploaded my pay stubs showing the correct amounts, it should be resolved within 7-10 business days. Such a relief to finally know what's happening! I'll update again when I get a decision.

That's great news! It's always better once you know what the actual issue is. The wage verification reviews usually get resolved without too much trouble as long as your documentation is clear. Hope you get your payments soon!

0 coins

Don't get your hopes up about that 7-10 business days timeframe!!! They told me the EXACT same thing and it still took another 3 weeks!!! But at least you know what the problem is now.

FINAL UPDATE: Just got a notification that my review is complete and my claim was approved! All back payments should be deposited to my Money Network card within 2-3 business days. The whole review process took exactly 26 days from start to finish. Thanks everyone for your help and advice during this stressful time!

Congrats! So glad it worked out for you! 👍

Great news! Make sure you continue your weekly certifications and work search activities to keep your benefits flowing smoothly. And remember to keep good records of your income if you have any part-time work to avoid future review issues.

Wow, what a roller coaster! I'm so happy to see this worked out for you in the end. Your story gives me hope - I'm currently on week 2 of my own review and was starting to panic. It's really helpful to see the whole timeline from start to finish. I'm definitely going to check my dashboard messages more carefully after reading about how you almost missed that document request. Thanks for sharing your experience and congrats on getting it resolved!

This is such a helpful thread! I'm actually dealing with a similar situation right now - my claim has been under review for about 10 days and I was starting to get really anxious about it. Reading through everyone's experiences here has been reassuring, especially seeing that most people eventually get approved even if it takes a while. I'm definitely going to check my dashboard messages more thoroughly after seeing how Kolton almost missed that document request. It's crazy how they don't send email notifications for important stuff like that! Thanks to everyone who shared their timelines and tips - this community is a lifesaver when you're dealing with UC stress.

I'm going through the same thing right now - week 3 of review and it's so stressful not knowing what's happening! This whole thread has been incredibly helpful to read. I had no idea about checking dashboard messages so thoroughly, and I'm definitely going to look into that Claimyr service if I can't get through on the phone soon. I'm currently on day 18 of my review and this thread has been incredibly helpful! Reading through everyone's experiences really helps with the anxiety of not knowing what's happening. I checked my dashboard messages after reading Kolton's story and found a request for additional wage verification that I had completely missed - uploaded the documents immediately. It's frustrating how they don't send email alerts for these important requests. For anyone else going through this, definitely check your messages section regularly and keep filing your weekly certifications even though you're not getting paid. The waiting is brutal but it seems like most people do get approved eventually. Thanks to everyone who shared their timelines and tips!

I'm so glad you found that document request! That's exactly what happened to me too - I almost missed it completely. It's really frustrating that they don't send email notifications for something so important. Since you uploaded your wage verification documents, you should hopefully see some movement in the next week or two. The waiting is definitely the hardest part, but at least now you know you've done everything on your end. Keep checking back regularly and don't forget to keep doing your weekly certifications! Fingers crossed your review gets resolved soon.

I'm currently going through my first UC review too and this whole thread has been a lifesaver! I'm on day 12 and was getting really worried, but seeing everyone's experiences and timelines is so reassuring. The tip about checking dashboard messages is gold - I just found a request for employment verification that I completely missed from 5 days ago! Just uploaded everything they asked for. I'm so glad this thread helped you find that employment verification request! It's honestly ridiculous that they don't send email notifications for such important documents. The fact that you found it and uploaded everything within 5 days of the request is great - that should definitely help speed up your review process. I went through a similar situation a few months back and the employment verification was resolved pretty quickly once I submitted the right paperwork. Keep doing those weekly certifications like you said, and try to check your dashboard every couple of days for any updates. The waiting game is brutal but you're doing everything right. Wishing you a quick resolution!

I immediately checked my dashboard messages after reading everyone's experiences and didn't find any requests yet, but I'm definitely going to make it part of my daily routine now. It's absolutely insane that they don't send email alerts for document requests! I can't believe how many people almost missed critical paperwork because of that. I'm currently on day 15 of my review and this thread has been absolutely invaluable! I was getting really anxious about the whole process, but reading everyone's experiences and seeing the different timelines has helped me understand that this is unfortunately pretty normal. The tip about checking dashboard messages religiously is so important - I've been checking mine twice daily since reading about how easy it is to miss document requests. Thankfully haven't found any missed notifications yet, but I'm staying vigilant. It's honestly shocking that PA UC doesn't send email alerts for critical document requests - seems like such a basic feature that could prevent so many delays. I'm continuing to file my weekly certifications and do my work search activities even though the lack of payments is stressful. Thank you to everyone who shared their stories and especially to those who provided updates throughout their process - it really helps to see the full journey from start to resolution!

I'm on day 22 of my review and completely understand the anxiety you're going through! This thread has been my lifeline too - checking it every few days to see if there are any updates or new tips. Your approach of checking dashboard messages twice daily is smart. I learned that lesson the hard way when I almost missed a wage verification request that sat there for a week. The lack of email notifications is absolutely maddening - it feels like they're setting people up to fail by making it so easy to miss critical requests. I'm glad you're staying on top of your weekly certifications and work search activities. That consistency really seems to matter based on what I've read here. Hang in there - from what everyone has shared, most reviews do get resolved even if the waiting feels endless. We've got this!

I'm so glad this thread has been helpful for you too! Day 6 is still early in the process, so try not to stress too much yet. Your plan to check dashboard messages daily is really smart - that seems to be the biggest lesson from everyone's experiences here. I went through my review about 6 months ago and it took about 3 weeks, but like others have mentioned, the timeline really varies depending on what they're reviewing. The key thing is you're already doing everything right by keeping up with your weekly certs and work search activities. That consistency really does matter. The waiting is definitely the hardest part, but from what I've seen in this community, the vast majority of people do get approved eventually. Stay positive and keep checking those messages!

I'm on day 11 of my review and this thread has honestly saved my sanity! I was spiraling about the unknown timeline, but seeing everyone's experiences - from 2 weeks to 8 weeks - has helped me realize this is just how the system works unfortunately. The dashboard message advice is pure gold - I immediately went and checked after reading Kolton's story and found a request for identity verification that had been sitting there for 3 days! Just uploaded my documents and feeling much more hopeful now. It's absolutely ridiculous that they don't email you about these critical requests - seems like such an obvious system flaw that causes unnecessary delays. I'm continuing my weekly certifications and work search activities even though the financial stress is real. Thank you to everyone who shared their timelines and kept updating throughout their process - this community support means everything when you're dealing with UC uncertainty!

So glad you found that identity verification request! That's exactly what happened to me too - it's honestly scary how easy it is to miss these critical notifications. The fact that you found it within just 3 days of it being posted is great timing. Identity verification requests usually get processed pretty quickly once you submit the right documents, so hopefully you'll see some movement in your case soon. I'm on day 19 of my own review now and still waiting, but reading everyone's experiences here has really helped with the anxiety. The lack of email alerts is such a basic oversight that causes so much unnecessary stress. Keep doing those weekly certifications like you said - that consistency really does matter according to what I've learned from this community. Fingers crossed both of our reviews get resolved soon!

You're so smart to start checking your dashboard messages multiple times a day from the beginning! That's honestly the biggest lesson I've learned from reading this whole thread. I'm on week 2 of my review and was lucky enough to catch a document request pretty quickly, but only because I read about everyone else's experiences here first. It really is mind-boggling that they don't send email notifications for these critical requests - it seems like such a basic feature that would save everyone so much stress and prevent delays. Day 4 is still really early, so try not to worry too much yet. From what I've seen here, most people's reviews take anywhere from 2-6 weeks depending on the issue. Your approach of checking dashboard messages twice daily is exactly what I've been doing too after reading about so many people missing critical requests. It's honestly shocking that such an important system doesn't have basic email notifications - feels like they're almost setting people up to fail! I found a wage verification request on day 10 that I could have easily missed if not for everyone's advice here. The financial stress is definitely real, but seeing that the vast majority of people do get approved eventually has helped me stay somewhat optimistic. I'm on day 16 of my review and this thread has been my saving grace too! Your daily dashboard checking routine is so smart - I learned that lesson after almost missing a document request early on. It's absolutely mind-boggling that such a critical system doesn't have email notifications for important requests. That oversight has probably caused countless delays for people who don't know to check obsessively. I've been following the same approach as you with weekly certs and work search activities, and while the financial pressure is definitely mounting, reading everyone's success stories here keeps me hopeful. The waiting game is brutal but seeing that most people eventually get positive outcomes really helps. Keep staying on top of everything - you're doing all the right things! Hoping we both get good news soon.

It really is insane that there are no email notifications - such a basic feature that would save so much stress! Day 3 is still super early in the process, so try not to worry too much yet. From what I've learned here, most reviews take 2-6 weeks depending on what they're checking. The key is staying consistent with those weekly certs and work search activities like you're already planning to do.
