PA UC approved claim stuck in UI Cash Office review - when will payment come?

Got a weird situation with my PA unemployment claim that's stressing me out. After waiting 3 weeks, my claim was finally approved last Thursday (yay!), but when I called to check on my payment status, the rep told me it was sent to something called the 'UI Cash Office' for additional review before they can release my funds. Has anyone experienced this extra step? The rep couldn't tell me how long this review would take or why it's happening. I'm counting on this money to pay rent next week and getting really anxious. Anyone know what this UI Cash Office review is all about or how long it usually takes?

This happened to me in February. The UI Cash Office review is an additional verification step that happens with some claims - often first-time claims or ones with special circumstances. In my case, it took about 5 business days before the payment was released. It's basically a financial verification to make sure everything is in order before they start sending money. Did they mention why your claim was flagged for this review?

Thanks for responding! They didn't explain why mine was flagged for review, which is making me even more nervous. 5 days isn't terrible I guess, but that puts me cutting it REALLY close for rent. Did you have to do anything to move the process along or did it just happen automatically?

omg the cash office is the WORST!!! mine took 3 weeks last year and nobody could tell me why. kept getting different answers every time i called. one person said it was routine, another said there was a problem with my direct deposit info. so frustrating

3 WEEKS?! I can't wait that long! Did you eventually get it resolved or did it just suddenly process one day?

The UI Cash Office review happens for a few common reasons: 1. First-time claimants 2. Claims with unusual wage patterns or multiple employers 3. Claims with previous overpayments 4. Banking information verification issues 5. Claims that exceed certain dollar thresholds The timeframe varies from 3-10 business days typically, though sometimes longer during peak periods. Make sure your direct deposit information is accurate in your dashboard, as that's often what they're verifying. You can also upload your bank account documentation through your dashboard to potentially speed up the process.

This is really helpful information, thank you! I did have multiple employers last year, so maybe that's why. I'll double-check my direct deposit info right now and see if there's a place to upload my bank docs.

If you're worried about making rent, you might want to try calling again. Sometimes you get different answers depending on who you talk to. I've had claims stuck in various statuses and sometimes calling repeatedly eventually gets you someone who can actually help or at least give you more specific information. It's frustrating but worth trying.

lol good luck reaching anyone at PA UC... i spent 3 days trying to get thru last month and kept getting busy signals or disconnected after waiting for hours

True, it can be nearly impossible sometimes. I've had better luck calling right when they open at 8am, but even then it's hit or miss.

When this happened to me last year, I discovered Claimyr which helped me get through to a PA UC rep in about 20 minutes instead of waiting days. Check out their website at claimyr.com - there's a video that shows how it works: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2. The service connected me directly with an agent who was able to tell me exactly why my claim was in the Cash Office and when I could expect payment. Saved me tons of stress during a really difficult time.

I've never heard of this service before! I'm desperate enough to try anything at this point. Thanks for sharing, I'll check out the video and website right now.

Is this legit? Sounds sketchy to me. Why would you need a service to call unemployment?

It's definitely legit. They basically keep calling for you using their system so you don't have to keep redialing yourself. When they get through, they connect you directly to the UC agent. I was skeptical too but was desperate after trying for days to reach someone.

One more thing I should mention - while your claim is in UI Cash Office review, continue to file your weekly certifications as normal. The review only affects the payment timing, not your claim eligibility. If you miss filing weeks during this period, it can create additional complications.

Great reminder, thank you! I wasn't sure if I should keep filing while this was pending, but I'll make sure to do my weekly claim this Sunday.

btw has anyone had issues with the Money Network card after getting through the cash office review? they finally approved my payments but then the card never showed up and i had to wait ANOTHER two weeks!!

You can check the status of your Money Network card by calling 888-233-5916. Sometimes they get returned to sender if your address has any issues. Also, when you get the card, I recommend immediately transferring the funds to your personal bank account to avoid any potential card issues.

UPDATE: I called again this morning (took forever to get through) and finally got more info. They said the Cash Office review was triggered because I had a previous claim from 2023 and they needed to verify I wasn't getting double payments or something. The rep said it should be processed by Friday! Fingers crossed she's right. Thanks everyone for your help!

Great news! Thanks for updating us. That Friday timeline sounds right based on my experience. The previous claim connection makes sense too - they're very careful about overlapping benefit years.
