NYDOL ghosted me after submitting 1099 - What to do?
Hey everyone, I'm having trouble with the DOL. I sent in my 1099 form both online and by fax, but I haven't heard anything back from them. It's been a while and I'm getting worried. Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice on what I should do next?

Ugh, welcome to the club 🙄 I swear the DOL is like a black hole where documents go to die. I've been in the same boat, sent my stuff in MONTHS ago and still crickets. It's so frustrating!

•Months?! That's insane. Have you tried calling them? I know its a pain but sometimes you gotta be the squeaky wheel

•Oh trust me, I've tried calling. It's like trying to win the lottery. Either busy signals or being on hold for hours only to get disconnected 🤬

•Pro tip: call right when they open. I got through after only 45 mins last week. Still sucks, but better than nothing

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

•Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit? Anyone else tried it?

•Yeah, it's legit. I was skeptical at first too, but I was desperate. It worked exactly as advertised. Got through to an agent in about 2 hours.

•$20 just to talk to someone?! The system is so broken if we have to pay just to get basic service 🤦♂️

•I get it, it sucks to pay. But for me, it was worth it to finally get some answers and move my claim forward. Time is money, ya know?

Have you checked your online account? Sometimes they update the status there without sending a notification. It's worth a shot!

Okay, let me break this down for you. I've been through this rodeo before, and here's what you need to do: 1. Keep copies of EVERYTHING. I mean everything. Faxes, online submissions, even screenshots of your submitted forms. 2. Follow up weekly. Use their online message system if they have one. Be polite but persistent. 3. If you can, try to get through on the phone. Early mornings are usually best. 4. Check if your state has an unemployment advocate or ombudsman. They can sometimes help push things along. 5. As a last resort, contact your local state representative. They often have channels to expedite these issues. Remember, the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Don't give up!

lol good luck. DOL is a joke. I've been waiting 6 months for them to fix a simple error on my claim. Might as well be shouting into the void 🗣️🕳️

•6 months?! That's insane! Have you tried reaching out to your local rep?

•Yep, tried everything. Rep's office said they'd look into it but that was weeks ago. Starting to think I'm cursed or smthn 😅

Quick question - did you get any kind of confirmation when you uploaded/faxed your 1099? Like a reference number or anything?

•I got a confirmation number for the online upload, but nothing for the fax. Should I have gotten something for the fax too?

•Nah, faxes usually don't give confirmations. But hang onto that online confirmation number! That could be your golden ticket if you need to follow up.

Not to be that guy, but are you sure you sent it to the right fax number/uploaded to the correct portal? I made that mistake once and wasted weeks waiting for a response that was never gonna come 🤦♂️

This might sound weird, but have you tried reaching out to them on Twitter? I've seen some people get responses that way. Worth a shot! 🤷♀️

•omg yes! I got a response within a day when I @ them on Twitter. Public shame works wonders lol

•Really? That's wild. What a time to be alive when tweeting at a government agency is more effective than their official channels 😂

Guys I'm telling you, we need to organize and demand better from our government agencies. This is ridiculous. Who's with me? ✊

•I'm in! But how do we even start? It feels like screaming into the void sometimes

•We could start a petition, maybe reach out to local news? The more noise we make, the harder we are to ignore!
