1099g form completely blank - no info at all. Help!
Hey everyone, I'm having some trouble with my 1099g form. It seems like there's no information on it at all. Has anyone else run into this issue? I'm not sure if it's just blank or if I'm missing something. Any advice would be really appreciated!

Ugh, that sucks. I had a similar problem last year. Have you tried contacting the unemployment office? Sometimes they can resend the form or give you access to an online version.

•Thanks for the suggestion. I've been trying to get through to them for days, but the phone lines are always busy. It's so frustrating!

•Pro tip: call right when they open in the morning. That's how I finally got through after weeks of trying.

Check your online account if you have one. Sometimes the forms are available there even if you didn't get a physical copy in the mail.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/eAqh7-IF36M

•Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

•Yeah, it's totally legit. I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo.

•How long did you have to wait for the call back?

•It took about 2 hours for me, but that was way better than spending all day trying to get through myself.

This whole system is so broken. Why can't they just make it easier for us? We're already struggling and now we have to jump through hoops just to get our tax forms. 🤦♂️

•Preach! 👏 It's like they want us to fail or something.

Here's what you need to do: 1. Double-check your mailing address on file. Sometimes forms get sent back if the address is wrong. 2. Log into your unemployment account online and look for a 'Tax Documents' section. 3. If you can't find it online, call the unemployment office. Use the number specifically for tax document requests if they have one. 4. Be persistent! If you can't get through, keep trying at different times of the day. 5. If all else fails, you might need to request a wage and income transcript from the IRS. They should have the info from your 1099g. Remember, you're not alone in this. The system is overwhelmed, but you'll get it sorted out. Don't let it stress you too much!

•This is great advice. Wish I had known about the IRS transcript option when I was dealing with this last year!

Have you checked your spam folder? Sometimes important emails end up there. Also, some states are really slow with sending out 1099gs this year.

Plot twist: what if the blank form is actually correct and you didn't receive any unemployment benefits last year? 🤔

•Lol, I wish! But nah, I definitely received benefits. Just can't seem to get the paperwork to prove it 😅
