NYDOL email system - Can they see documents I sent last week?
Hey everyone, I'm trying to figure out if the Department of Labor can see the documents I sent them last week through their email system. Has anyone had experience with this? Did you get any kind of confirmation after sending stuff in? I'm getting anxious waiting and not knowing if they've even received what I sent.

Ugh, I feel you. Their system is so frustrating! I sent in docs a month ago and still haven't heard anything. No confirmation, no updates, nada. It's like shouting into the void.

ā¢Have you tried calling them? Sometimes that's the only way to get any info.

ā¢Calling? LOL good luck with that. I've been on hold for hours and never got through. š¤”

I actually found a way to get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

ā¢Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

ā¢Yep, totally legit. I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo.

ā¢$20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous. The system is so broken š¤®

ā¢I get it, but think about how much your time is worth. For me, not sitting on hold for 3+ hours was definitely worth it.

Pro tip: Always, ALWAYS keep copies of everything you send them. Screenshot the sent email, save PDFs, whatever. You'll thank yourself later when they inevitably 'lose' your docs.

ā¢Thanks for the advice! I did save everything, thankfully. Just wish there was a way to know they actually received it.

ā¢šÆ this. I learned the hard way after they claimed they never got my stuff. Now I'm paranoid and triple save everything!

Here's what I've learned from dealing with NYDOL for the past 6 months: ā¢ Their email system is notoriously unreliable. Sometimes docs go through, sometimes they don't. ā¢ They rarely send confirmations, so don't expect one. ā¢ It can take anywhere from 2-8 weeks for them to process new documents. ā¢ If you haven't heard anything after 3 weeks, try to call or use their online message system to follow up. ā¢ Be persistent! Sometimes you have to send things multiple times. ā¢ If possible, use their online portal to upload documents instead of email. It's slightly more reliable. ā¢ Keep a detailed log of everything you send, including dates and times. Hang in there, OP. The system is frustrating, but eventually things do get sorted out.

ā¢8 WEEKS?! Are you kidding me? How are people supposed to survive waiting that long? š”

ā¢I know, it's insane. The backlog is real. That's why I always recommend people start the process ASAP and have backup plans if possible.

Plot twist: the DOL is actually run by a bunch of hamsters on wheels and that's why everything takes so long. š¹šØ

ā¢Hey now, don't insult hamsters like that! They'd probably do a better job tbh

Guys, I think we're all missing the bigger picture here. The whole system is designed to be frustrating so people give up. It's not broken, it's working exactly as intended. š¤

ā¢Preach! š It's all about making it so hard that people just stop trying to get what they're owed.

ā¢Idk man, never attribute to malice what can be explained by incompetence. I think they're just really, really bad at their jobs.

Anyone else notice that their website always seems to be 'under maintenance' right when you need it most? š

OP, if you're really worried, you could try reaching out to your local state representative. Sometimes they can help push things along with the DOL.
