NYDOL Overpayment: When will payments resume after deductions?
Hey everyone, I'm dealing with an overpayment situation with unemployment and I'm wondering when I'll start receiving payments again after they take out the overpayment amount. Has anyone been through this? How long did it take for your benefits to resume?

I went through something similar last year. It took about 3 weeks after they started deducting the overpayment for my regular benefits to kick back in. Make sure you keep certifying every week tho!

Thanks for sharing your experience! Did you have to do anything special to get the payments started again, or did they just automatically resume?

Nah, they just started up again on their own. Just keep an eye on your account and make sure you're still eligible. Good luck!

3 weeks?! 😱 That's rough. I guess we should all be prepared for a gap in payments when dealing with overpayments.

2 months?! That's insane. Have you tried calling them? Sometimes you gotta be persistent to get answers.

yeah, I've called like a million times. Always busy or on hold forever. It's like they don't want us to get help 🙄

Here's what I know about overpayments and resuming benefits: • The time it takes to resume payments varies depending on your specific case and the amount of overpayment. • Generally, it can take anywhere from 2-6 weeks after the overpayment is fully recouped. • Continue certifying for benefits every week, even if you're not receiving payments. • Check your online account regularly for updates or notices. • If it's been more than 6 weeks since your overpayment was settled, definitely contact NYDOL for clarification. • Sometimes, they may require additional information or verification before restarting benefits. • Keep all documentation related to your claim and overpayment in case you need to dispute anything. Hope this helps! Remember, everyone's situation is a bit different, so your mileage may vary.

Wow, thank you so much for this detailed info! It's really helpful to have all of this laid out. I'll definitely keep certifying and watching my account closely.

This is great advice. I wish I had known all this when I was dealing with my overpayment last year. Would've saved me a lot of stress!

Has anyone else noticed that the NYDOL website is always down when you need it most? 🤔 Trying to check my claim status is like playing the lottery lol

Pro tip: I found a way to actually get someone on the phone at NYDOL. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit? Has anyone else tried it?

Yeah, it's legit. I was skeptical at first too, but I was desperate after trying to get through for weeks. It worked for me, got me connected to an agent in about an hour.

Wait, we have to PAY to talk to unemployment now? That's messed up. The system is so broken 😡

I get it, it sucks that we have to pay. But for me, it was worth it to finally get some answers and move my claim forward. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do 🤷♂️

Preach! 🙌 It's like they expect us to be mind readers or something. Communication from NYDOL is a joke.

Hey OP, have you checked if you're eligible for any other assistance programs while you're waiting for your unemployment to kick back in? Might be worth looking into food banks or rental assistance if you're strapped for cash.

That's a good idea, thanks! I'll definitely look into other assistance options. Every little bit helps right now.
