NY unemployment KeyBank deposit delay - benefits released yesterday not showing up
Anyone with KeyBank direct deposit having issues today? My NY unemployment benefits were released yesterday according to the portal, but nothing's in my account yet. Normally the money hits my KeyBank account by 9am the next day after release, but it's already afternoon and zilch. Getting worried since rent is due soon. Anyone else experiencing delays with their KeyBank deposits for UI benefits this week?

This happens sometimes with KeyBank. There can be 24-48 hour delays in processing, especially around holidays or month-end. Did you check if there were any system maintenance notices on the KeyBank or NYSDOL websites? I'd give it until tomorrow before getting too concerned.

•Thanks. No, I didn't see any notices. Just weird because it's been so consistent for months - release one day, deposit the next morning. I'll try to be patient.

OMG I'm having EXACTLY the same issue!!! Mine always shows up by 8:30am after release and NOTHING today! I called KeyBank and was on hold for 40 minutes before hanging up. This is RIDICULOUS! My landlord doesn't care about "processing delays" when rent is due!!! Anyone know if there's a SYSTEM OUTAGE or something??

•At least I'm not alone. Let me know if yours shows up? I'll update here if mine does.

Last time this happened to me (back in January), the money showed up around 6pm. KeyBank sometimes has these random delays. I wouldn't panic until tomorrow morning. If it doesn't show by then, that's when you should start calling.

•That's reassuring. I'll check again tonight and tomorrow morning.

•But WHY don't they tell us when these delays happen?? We rely on this money!

I used to have KeyBank for my unemployment benefits and experienced similar delays occasionally. I switched to direct deposit to my regular bank account (you can change this in your NY.gov account settings), and it's been much more reliable. The transfers usually process overnight regardless of weekends or holidays.

•I might have to look into that option. Does it take long to switch?

•It's pretty simple - just go to your payment options in your NY.gov account and have your routing and account numbers ready. Takes about 5 minutes to set up, but the change might take 1-2 payment cycles to go into effect.

•3 times in 2 months?? That's unacceptable! They need to fix their system!

I spent two hours today trying to get through to someone at NYSDOL about this exact issue. Apparently there's a processing delay affecting KeyBank deposits specifically. The rep I finally spoke with (after using Claimyr to get through - claimyr.com saved me hours of busy signals) said it's affecting multiple people and should be resolved by tonight or tomorrow morning. They have a video showing how it works at https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE if anyone else is struggling to get answers from an actual person about this or other UI issues.

•Thank you for the update! Good to know it's a known issue and not just me. I might check out that service if I need to call in the future.

This happens at least once every quarter with KeyBank in my experience. When I was on UI last year, I eventually set up text alerts for deposits so I wouldn't panic. Glad your money came through! For future reference, these delays almost always resolve within the same business day.

•The text alerts are a good idea! I'll set that up to avoid the stress next time.

For anyone following this thread with similar issues: NY unemployment benefit payments typically post to accounts within 1-2 business days after being released. Occasional delays can happen due to: - Bank processing times (especially with KeyBank) - System maintenance - High volume processing periods (like month-end) - Weekend/holiday processing schedules If your payment doesn't appear after 3 business days from release, that's when you should contact NYSDOL directly.
