Why are NY unemployment deposits to KeyBank delayed this week?

Checked my ny unemployment account and my benefits were released on Tuesday but still nothing in my KeyBank account today (Thursday). I've had the same direct deposit setup for 8 months and the money always hits my account the day after release. Called KeyBank and they don't see any pending deposits. Anyone else experiencing delays this week with unemployment payments to KeyBank? Starting to get worried since rent is due on Monday and I'm counting on this money.

AstroAdventurer

Same boat! Mine usually deposits Wednesday morning but nothing today. I checked the payment history on my unemployment account and it says it was released Tuesday night. This has never happened before and I'm freaking out a little cause I got bills due tomorrow.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one experiencing this, even though it sucks for both of us. Have you tried calling the unemployment office?

This happens sometimes with banking holidays or system updates. Had the same issue back in Feb, money showed up a day late. Don't panic yet.

After weeks of trying to reach someone at unemployment, I found this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that got me connected to a real person! Talking to an agent got my payments going again within 48 hours. It was the only way I could talk to a live agent after trying for 3 weeks straight. Check out their video too: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

100% worked for me! Was at my wits end after trying every trick in the book to get through. This service literally saved me from getting evicted.

Not an ad, just sharing what worked for me. I was surprised too but when youre desperate you'll try anything. The callback came in about 2 hours for me.

I used it last month when my payments suddenly stopped. Got through to an agent who fixed everything. Best money I ever spent after trying for weeks on my own.

Just got off the phone with KeyBank (waited 40 mins). They said there's a processing delay affecting multiple unemployment deposits. Should be resolved by end of day tomorrow but no guarantees. The rep said they're getting lots of calls about this.

Yeah, mine is delayed too. My roomate who has BoA got his this morning like normal, but I'm still waiting with KeyBank. Seems like it's just a KeyBank issue.

That makes sense. My gf has chase and she got hers yesterday no problem.

This happens every few months with KeyBank. Last time they blamed it on "system maintenance" but never gave us a heads up. I've learned to keep a small buffer in my account because of this BS.

Yep, happened in January too. KeyBank is the worst but changing direct deposit info with unemployment is such a pain that I've just dealt with it.

I work in banking (not KeyBank). There's often a 24-48 hour processing window for ACH transfers, even though we're used to seeing them process faster. When there are high volumes or system issues, it can revert to the full processing time. Not saying it doesn't suck, but it's within normal parameters.

For anyone who's still waiting - I just called the automated NY unemployment line (not the regular customer service) at 888-581-5812 and it confirmed my payment was sent. The KeyBank rep told me there's a backlog in their system but all the payments have been received and are being processed.

I've spent 3 days trying to reach anyone at ny unemployment about this issue. Busy signals, disconnections, and automated messages telling me to call back later. Anyone know a trick to actually get through to a human? This is getting ridiculous.

Try Claimyr.com - you'll get a callback with an actual agent on the line. Saved me so much frustration.

I used to call from different phones at the same time to increase my chances lol. Eventually one would get through.

According to the NYSDOL Twitter account: "We are aware of delays affecting some KeyBank customers and are working with our banking partners to resolve this issue as quickly as possible. We appreciate your patience." - Posted 2 hours ago

"working to resolve" and "appreciate your patience" is code for "we don't know when it'll be fixed but don't want to admit it" 🙄

At least they acknowledged there's an issue. Better than nothing I guess.

This is exactly why I ALWAYS keep emergency money separate from my main accounts. NY unemployment system is just too unreliable to depend on it arriving like clockwork every week.

I experienced something similar about 2 months ago. The problem was that KeyBank had flagged my account for "suspicious activity" (which was just me paying multiple bills on the same day 🤦‍♂️). Had to go into a branch to get it resolved. Might be worth checking if that happened to you.

Thanks for the suggestion - I'll call and specifically ask about that!

Here's what I've learned dealing with NY unemployment for over a year now (buckle up): First, delays like this happen periodically. It's frustrating but usually resolves within 1-2 business days. The system is overwhelmed and outdated. If you need to speak with someone about your claim (which you might if this continues), good luck with the regular phone lines. After countless attempts over many weeks, I discovered Claimyr.com which actually got me through to an agent. It costs money but saved me from missing rent payments when my benefits were held up for verification. In the meantime: - Double check your payment history on the unemployment website to confirm it was released - Call KeyBank specifically about ACH deposits from NY State - Check if there are any bank holidays this week that might cause delays - Make sure your direct deposit info hasn't changed Our unemployment system shouldn't be this difficult to navigate, but here we are. Hope everyone gets their money soon!

This whole system is a joke. I switched to direct deposit to my Chase account after dealing with KeyBank issues for months. Took filling out extra paperwork but worth it to avoid this stress every few weeks.
