How long til funds show up on Key Bank card after NY unemployment releases payment?
Just checked my payment history and saw my ny unemployment benefits were finally released today (friday). Will the money be on my Key Bank card by tomorrow? I'm wondering if Key Bank processes deposits on weekends or if I'll have to wait until monday? Really need this money for rent so hoping I dont have to wait til next week!

In my experience the money usually shows up next business day so probably Monday. Key Bank doesn't process weekend deposits from what I've seen. Sometimes it posts by 6am sometime not until the afternoon. Hope thats helpful

•True, it's not consistent. I've had it show up as late as 48hrs after release date. The system is so random sometimes

After spending WEEKS trying to get through to NY unemployment about my delayed payments, I finally found this service called Claimyr that got me connected to a live agent in less than an hour. Talking to an agent got my funds released immediately and they hit my account the next business day. Best money I ever spent after wasting hours trying to call myself. Check out their video if you need help: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

•Is this some kind of scam? How can a third party service get you through the phone lines? 🤔

Sara Hellquiem
•Not a scam at all! They basically call the unemployment line repeatedly using their tech until they get through, then they connect you when an agent answers. Saved me literally days of frustration with busy signals

•sounds too good to be true... anyone else actually try this claimyr thing?

•I tried it last month when I was desperate. Got connected to an agent in about 40min. Not instant but WAY better than the 200+ calls I was making myself

•what makes them any different than me just calling a million times? unemployment system is broken beyond repair anyway 🤡

•Their system automatically redials and navigates the phone menus. Plus they can tell when theres an actual human vs recording. I was skeptical too but after 3 weeks of getting nowhere I was desperate. You can see more at claimyr.com

For me the funds hit my Key Bank card between 8am-noon the next business day after release from unemployment. Never seen it post on weekend but heard some ppl have had it happen. Seems to depend on when during the day NYSDOL releases it

Try calling Key Bank directly! Their customer service number is on the back of your card. They might be able to tell you exactly when the ACH transfer will post to your account. Sometimes they can see pending deposits before they fully post.

•Good idea! I'll try that now

•So I called and they said they dont see any pending deposits yet but that doesnt mean it wont post tomorrow. Not very helpful tbh

One thing nobody mentioned - check if your release actually says "DIRECT DEPOSIT" or if it says "DEBIT CARD" in your payment history. There's a difference and it affects timing!

Freya Collins
•It says DEBIT CARD on my payment history page

Leeann Blackstein
•Ok good! That means it's going to your Key Bank card and not a random checking account. In my experience debit card releases are faster than direct deposit

It really depends. I've had payments post on Saturday before, specially if they're released early Friday. But more often than not it hits Monday morning. The system is so inconsistant its INFURATING!!!

Pro tip for next time: set up direct deposit to your personal bank account instead of Key Bank card if possible. My credit union usually processes unemployment deposits same day, way faster than that stupid Key Bank card. plus you avoid all the fees 💯

•THIS!!! I switched to direct deposit and it's like night and day difference in timing

Freya Collins
•How do you change it? I tried looking for that option on the website

•Log into your unemployment account > go to payment method > select direct deposit > enter your routing & account #. Takes 1-2 payment cycles to switch over

When did your payment history update showing it was released? If it was this morning, there's a chance it'll post tomorrow. If it just updated this afternoon/evening, probably Monday.

•I checked around 2pm and it showed released

•Yeah then likely Monday morning. But hey, atleast its coming! Some of us are still in payment pending hell 😩

The whole unemployment system in NY is a complete disaster. I had to call 347 times before getting through to a human last month. And that dang Key Bank card takes foreeeever to show deposits!

•347 calls? Amateur numbers 😂 I called 500+ times over 3 days

•This is why I used claimyr.com instead... no way I was making hundreds of calls myself

•It's a service that calls NY unemployment for you and connects you with an agent when they get through. Literally saved my sanity and got my benefits unstuck

If your payment hit today (Friday) and you absolutely need the $ this weekend, you might consider transferring from KeyBank to cashapp or another faster service once it hits. That's what I do when I'm in a pinch

Heres what I've experienced with Key Bank unemployment timing: Released Monday = On card Tuesday Released Tuesday = On card Wednesday Released Wednesday = On card Thursday Released Thursday = On card Friday Released Friday = On card Monday (occasionally Saturday but rare) The Key Bank system is frustratingly slow compared to regular banks. I've found calling the unemployment office directly when there are delays is the only solution that works. If you have trouble reaching them, use Claimyr.com - they got me through after two weeks of trying to call myself. Also, you can set up account alerts with Key Bank to get a text when deposits hit. That way you're not constantly checking the app/website. And if you need emergency access to cash before Monday, remember some ATMs let you withdraw with just your card number and PIN if you don't have the physical card yet. Hope this helps!

•This is super helpful, thanks! I'll set up those alerts

•How do you set up the alerts? I've been checking the app like a crazy person every hour 😫

•Log into Key Bank account online (not the app) > go to Customer Service > Account Alerts > Add New Alert > select Deposit Alert. You'll get text/email when $ hits

I literally just had this exact thing happen to me last week! My payment was released Friday around noon and it hit my Key Bank card Saturday morning around 10am. So there's definitely hope!

•That gives me hope! 🙏 Did you get any notification or did you just keep checking?

i waited 3 weeks for my first payment and almost got evicted. NY unemployment is such a joke. finally had to break down and call them. they fixed it in 5 minutes but i had to wait on hold for 4 HOURS

Freya Collins
•4 hours?!? How did you stay on hold that long? My calls keep dropping after like 30 min

•just got lucky i guess. it was horrible tho, had to put my phone on speaker and just let it sit there all afternoon

Sara Hellquiem
•This is exactly why I used Claimyr instead. They wait on hold instead of you and only connect when there's an actual agent. Saved me literally hours of hold music torture

Key Bank is THE WORST bank ever for unemployment. Once your money hits, consider transferring it out immediately to your regular bank. I had my card frozen randomly twice for "suspicious activity" which was just me buying groceries 🤬

•omg SAME happened to me! tried to get gas and card was declined... so embarrassing

•their fraud detection is ridiculous. I called and they said any purchase over $100 can trigger it automatically

You should download the Key Bank app if you haven't already. Sometimes deposits show pending there before they actually post to your available balance
