NY unemployment deposit to KeyBank - weekend delays?

Just got the notification that my unemployment funds were released to my KeyBank card this morning (Friday). First time getting paid on this card and I'm wondering when I'll actually be able to access the money. Anyone know if weekend deposits take longer? Really need to pay some bills ASAP and not sure if I should count on having this money before Monday. Any experiences with KeyBank weekend processing would be super helpful!

I've been on NY unemployment for about 4 months now and use the KeyBank card. Usually when they release on Friday morning, the money shows up same day for me around 2-3pm. Never had to wait past the same day, even on Fridays. Weekend doesn't affect it because the bank processes it before end of day.

Seriously? That's good to hear! It's already noon here and nothing yet but hopefully in the next few hours then 🙏

depends on ur bank tho. some banks take longer then others to process deposits

True but OP is using KeyBank debit card which is what unemployment gives you directly. Those are usually faster than transfers to personal banks.

After struggling for weeks trying to get through to someone about my KeyBank card issues, I found this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com). They got me connected to a real NY unemployment agent who fixed my payment blocks and my money hit the card like 48hrs later. It was the only way I could talk to a live agent and totally worth it to get my funds released. Check out this video about it: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

is this for real? sounds too good to be true ngl 🤔

Yeah I was skeptical too but I was desperate after calling for 3 weeks straight. Got connected to an agent in like 2 hours and they fixed everything. Talking to an actual human made all the difference.

another one of these 'solutions'... has anyone else actually used this or just this one random person?

I used it last month when my payments suddenly stopped. The callback thing actually works. Got my backpay sorted in one call after weeks of getting nowhere.

The money I spent on the service was nothing compared to finally getting my benefits unlocked. Best decision I made during this whole unemployment nightmare.

KeyBank is usually pretty quick, but I've had times where it didn't show up till the next business day. Friday releases can be weird. Check ur balance online instead of just the app, sometimes the app doesn't update as fast.

THE WHOLE NY UNEMPLOYMENT SYSTEM IS A JOKE!!!! I've been waiting 6 weeks for my money and they keep saying "it's processing" every. single. time. I call. Anyone else dealing with this garbage? 🤬

Bruh I waited 10 weeks last year. The system is broken af.

Have you tried using claimyr.com? I was stuck for 2 months and finally got through to someone who fixed my claim in like 10 minutes.

never heard of it but at this point ill try anything

Hey there! I work at a bank (not KeyBank tho) and generally ACH transfers that are initiated on Friday will be available same day if processed before the cutoff time (usually around 3-5pm). However, if the system releases it later in the day or there's any kind of hold, it might not show up until Monday. Unfortunately there's not much you can do except wait and check your account.

Thanks for the insider info! Really hope it comes through today.

My experience with KeyBank and ny unemployment has been that if it says released on Friday before like 11am, I get it same day. After that its Monday. But I think it varies by region too? idk the whole system is weird

I've been dealing with New York's unemployment system for over a year now, and here's what I've learned about KeyBank deposits specifically: First, the timing depends on when NYSDOL processes the release. Early morning releases (before 10am) typically hit your KeyBank card same day. Afternoon releases often don't post until next business day. Second, weekend processing is inconsistent. I've had funds show up on Saturday before, but it's rare. Monday is more likely if it doesn't hit Friday. Third, you can call KeyBank directly at the number on the back of your card to check if they see a pending deposit that hasn't posted yet. Sometimes they can see it before you can. Fourth, if you're in a real bind and need to speak with someone at unemployment about payment issues, I highly recommend claimyr.com - they can get you through to a live agent without the endless hold times. This was a game-changer for me when my payments were stuck in limbo. Finally, make sure your KeyBank account isn't locked for security reasons. Sometimes they freeze accounts if they detect unusual activity, which delays deposits. Hope this helps! The system can be incredibly frustrating.

This is super helpful, thank you!!! 💯

Thanks for all this detail! I didn't even think to call KeyBank directly, good idea.

Just move the money off the KeyBank card as soon as it hits. Their customer service is trash and they randomly lock accounts all the time. I transfer everything to my regular bank immediately.

this 👆 I had my card locked for no reason last month and it took 2 weeks to get it fixed

0 coins

Oh good to know - how do you transfer it? Is there a fee?

0 coins

no fee if u link ur bank account in the KeyBank portal and do a transfer. takes like 1-2 days to hit ur regular account tho

0 coins

lol welcome to the wonderful world of ny unemployment where nothing makes sense and the rules are made up 🤡 sometimes my money hits same day, sometimes 3 days later with no explanation

0 coins

have u checked ur actual KeyBank account online? sometimes the ny unemployment website says released but it takes a few hours to actually show on ur card

0 coins

Yeah I've been checking both the unemployment site and the KeyBank site all day. Nothing yet 😭

0 coins

did u just get approved for benefits or is this a regular payment? first payments sometimes take longer

0 coins

It's my first payment after approval. Been waiting for like 3 weeks so I'm getting antsy.

0 coins

Ah that explains it. First payments are always slower. Hang in there!

Check if ur claim says 'released' or 'processed' - those mean different things and affect when u get paid

Anyone know if this keybank card works with apple pay? Trying to figure out if I can use it before the physical card comes

0 coins
