ESD payment timing after Sunday claims - when to expect deposits?
I just got my first unemployment payment last week (finally!) and filed my weekly claim early Sunday morning. I'm trying to plan my budget and bills for the coming days - when do most people see their deposits hit their accounts? Is it always the same day each week? I have direct deposit set up with KeyBank if that makes any difference. This is my first time on UI benefits and I'm still figuring out the timing of everything.

Most people get their payments on Tuesday or Wednesday after filing on Sunday, but it can depend on your bank. ESD typically processes claims within 48 hours if there are no issues with your weekly claim. With KeyBank, I usually saw mine hit on Tuesday afternoons around 2-3pm. You can check your claim status on eServices to see when it changes from 'pending' to 'paid' - that means ESD has released the payment to your bank.

•Thanks! That's really helpful. I'll keep an eye on the eServices portal tomorrow afternoon then. Do holidays ever delay the payments?

•It definitely varies by bank. I use Chase and mine is consistently Tuesday by noon. KeyBank (what OP mentioned) tends to be Tuesday afternoon from what I've heard from others. The important thing is it's usually consistent week to week unless there's a problem with your claim.

IF YOU HAVE ISSUES WITH YOUR CLAIM, don't expect any consistency!! My payments were regular until I answered one question wrong on my weekly filing. Then I had to call them EVERY SINGLE WEEK to get them to release my payment. Sometimes took until Friday or the next week even!! The ESD phone system is THE WORST, I spent 4-6 hours on hold every time I called!!!

•I had the same nightmare trying to call them about a payment issue. After wasting two full days trying to get through, I found a service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that got me connected to an ESD agent in about 20 minutes instead of waiting on hold all day. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3. Totally worth it when you're dealing with payment delays and need to talk to someone right away.

•OMG where was this when I needed it months ago?? Bookmarking that for when something inevitably goes wrong again.

•Thanks! Yeah the first one took almost 3 weeks because of verification or something. Glad to hear it's more predictable after that.

Does anyone know if you get paid faster if you have the ESD debit card instead of direct deposit? My neighbor said he gets his money Monday night sometimes.

•Yes, the ESD debit card (ReliaCard) payments often show up 12-24 hours faster than direct deposit because there's no bank processing time. However, many people prefer direct deposit to avoid the ReliaCard fees. It's a trade-off between slightly faster payment versus potential fees and having to transfer money around.

Update: My payment just hit my account this morning (Tuesday) around 10am! Looks like for KeyBank it's Tuesday mornings. Thanks everyone for the info!

That's great to hear about the consistency! I'm new to unemployment benefits too and was worried about the timing. Just to add for anyone else reading - I've been getting mine with Bank of America on Tuesday evenings around 6-7pm for the past month. It's been pretty reliable once you get past that initial waiting period. Also wanted to mention that if you're ever unsure about your payment status, the eServices mobile app sends push notifications when your claim status changes, which is super helpful for tracking.
