Washington ESD unemployment deposit timing - when is unemployment deposited weekly?

I just got approved for UI benefits through Washington ESD and filed my first weekly claim on Sunday. When should I expect to see the money deposited in my account? I set up direct deposit during the application process but I'm not sure what day of the week payments typically go through. My bills are due this week and I need to plan accordingly. Does anyone know the usual deposit schedule for Washington unemployment?

Washington ESD typically processes payments on Tuesday nights, so you should see the deposit in your account by Wednesday morning if you filed your weekly claim on Sunday. Sometimes it can take until Thursday depending on your bank's processing time.

Thanks! So if I file every Sunday going forward, I should expect deposits every Wednesday?

0 coins

Exactly. As long as you file by Sunday and there are no issues with your claim, Wednesday is the usual deposit day.

mine always comes wednesday morning around 6am, been getting UI for 3 months now. make sure you file before midnight sunday or it might delay until the next week

Good to know about the midnight deadline. I filed mine around 8pm Sunday so should be good.

If your claim goes into adjudication or there's any issue with your weekly filing, the deposit will be delayed. I had mine held up for two weeks because I forgot to report some part-time work hours and Washington ESD flagged it for review.

How do you know if your claim is in adjudication? Is there a way to check the status online?

Log into your SecureAccess Washington account and check your claim status. It will show if there are any issues or if it's pending review.

I've been trying to check my claim status online but the Washington ESD website keeps timing out. Anyone else having problems with the site today?

I had so much trouble getting through to Washington ESD when my deposits were delayed last month. Spent hours on hold every day for a week trying to figure out what was wrong with my claim. Finally found this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that actually got me connected to an agent in like 10 minutes. They have a video demo at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ showing how it works. Saved me so much time and frustration.

Really? How does that work exactly? I'm always worried about calling because I can never get through.

They basically handle the calling for you and get you connected to an actual Washington ESD representative. Way better than sitting on hold for hours.

That sounds too good to be true. What's the catch?

Wednesday deposits are the norm but holidays can mess things up. If there's a federal holiday on Monday or Tuesday, your deposit might be delayed until Thursday. Also some banks are slower than others - credit unions seem to post faster than big banks in my experience.

I bank with a local credit union so hopefully that helps with faster processing.

My Bank of America deposits usually show up Wednesday afternoon, never earlier than that.

Just a heads up - make sure you're doing your job search activities and logging them in WorkSourceWA before you file your weekly claim. Washington ESD requires 3 job search activities per week and they do audit this stuff. I know someone who got disqualified for not keeping proper records.

Wait, I have to log job searches before filing my weekly claim? I thought I just had to certify that I did them.

You need to actually log the activities in WorkSourceWA. It's not just about certifying - they want detailed records of what you did, when, and where you applied.

This is so confusing. Why don't they explain this stuff better when you first apply?

I've been on unemployment for 6 months and Wednesday deposits are consistent unless there's a problem with your claim. The key is filing your weekly claim as early as possible on Sunday - I always do mine right after midnight Saturday night just to be safe.

That's smart. I'll probably start doing mine Sunday morning to avoid any last-minute issues.

You can file starting Saturday at midnight? I thought you had to wait until Sunday.

0 coins

The system opens up Saturday at midnight for the next week's claim. Most people don't realize this.

WASHINGTON ESD IS THE WORST! I've been waiting 3 weeks for my deposits because they put my claim in adjudication for no reason. Can't get anyone on the phone, website crashes constantly, and they don't respond to messages. This system is broken!!!

I feel your pain. Have you tried that Claimyr service someone mentioned earlier? Might be worth a shot if you're desperate to talk to someone.

At this point I'll try anything. I'm about to lose my apartment because I can't pay rent.

For what it's worth, once you get into the rhythm of filing weekly claims, the Wednesday deposit schedule is pretty reliable. I've been getting my payments every Wednesday for 4 months now without any issues. The key is being consistent with your filing and not missing any weeks.

That's reassuring. I'm hoping once I get past this first payment, everything will run smoothly.

dont forget to keep track of your job searches! washington esd will ask for proof and if you cant provide it they'll make you pay back everything. learned this the hard way

0 coins

How do they check your job searches? Do they actually contact employers?

0 coins

they can audit your worksourcewa account and sometimes they do contact employers. better safe than sorry

I used Claimyr twice when I had issues with my Washington ESD claim and both times they got me through to an agent within 15 minutes. First time was when my claim got stuck in adjudication and the second time was when I had questions about reporting part-time work. Definitely worth it when you need to actually talk to someone at Washington ESD instead of just waiting on hold forever.

Good to hear another positive experience with that service. I'll keep it in mind if I run into any issues.

How much does it cost though? I'm already tight on money.

Wednesday is definitely the standard deposit day but I've noticed mine sometimes comes Tuesday night around 11pm. Depends on your bank and when they process ACH transfers. Either way, you should see it by Wednesday morning at the latest.

I'll keep an eye out starting Tuesday night then. Thanks for all the helpful info everyone!

Just make sure you file every single week even if you worked some hours. I made the mistake of not filing one week because I worked 3 days and thought I wouldn't get anything. Turns out I still would have gotten a partial payment and now I have to restart my claim.

Amara Nnamani

•

Oh wow, I didn't know you could get partial payments. Good thing you mentioned that.

0 coins

Yeah Washington ESD allows you to work part-time and still collect some unemployment benefits. You just have to report all your hours and earnings honestly.

The Wednesday deposit schedule has been consistent for me except during the week of Thanksgiving and Christmas when everything was delayed by a day. Other than holidays, I can count on getting paid every Wednesday.

Good to know about holiday delays. I'll keep that in mind for future planning.

One thing to watch out for - if Washington ESD sends you any correspondence or requests for additional information, respond immediately. I ignored a letter asking for wage verification because I thought it was spam and they stopped my payments for 2 weeks until I got it sorted out with Claimyr's help getting through to an agent.

I'll make sure to check my mail and online messages regularly. Thanks for the warning!

This is exactly why I keep that Claimyr bookmark handy. Never know when you'll need to actually talk to someone at Washington ESD quickly.
