What day does unemployment get deposited - Washington ESD payment schedule?

I just got approved for unemployment benefits and I'm trying to figure out when I can expect my payments to show up in my bank account. I filed my weekly claim on Sunday but I'm not sure what day Washington ESD actually deposits the money. Does anyone know the typical payment schedule? I need to plan my bills around when the deposit hits.

Washington ESD typically processes payments on Tuesday or Wednesday if you filed your weekly claim by Sunday. The actual deposit date depends on your bank though - some banks process faster than others.

Thanks! I bank with Chase so hopefully it shows up by Wednesday. Do you know if holidays affect the schedule?

Yeah holidays can delay it by a day or two. Banking holidays especially will push everything back.

Mine always comes on Tuesday mornings around 6am. I file my claim Sunday night and it's there by Tuesday without fail. Been getting benefits for 3 months now.

That's reassuring to hear it's so consistent for you. What bank do you use?

I use BECU credit union. They're pretty fast with direct deposits in general.

If you're having trouble getting through to Washington ESD to check on your payment status, I found this service called Claimyr that helped me reach an actual agent. They have a website at claimyr.com and there's a demo video at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ that shows how it works. Made it so much easier than trying to call myself.

How does that work exactly? I hate sitting on hold for hours just to ask a simple question.

They basically handle the calling for you and get you connected to an agent. Super helpful when you need to check payment status or resolve issues.

Interesting, I might have to check that out. I've been trying to reach Washington ESD for weeks about my claim.

Just so you know, if there are any issues with your claim like adjudication or verification needed, your payment can be delayed even if you file on time. Washington ESD won't deposit anything until all issues are resolved.

My claim shows as approved with no issues, so I think I should be good. Fingers crossed!

Yeah I learned that the hard way. Had an adjudication issue that took 6 weeks to resolve.

Good to know it's consistent across different banks. Thanks!

Also worth noting that your first payment might take longer than usual since Washington ESD has to set up your direct deposit info. After that first one, it should be regular as clockwork.

This is actually my first payment so that's good to know. How much longer did your first one take?

Mine took about 5 days instead of the usual 2-3. But every payment after that was right on schedule.

Make sure you're filing your weekly claim by Sunday night to get the Tuesday/Wednesday deposit. If you file Monday or later, it gets pushed to the next week's cycle.

I filed Sunday evening so I should be good. Thanks for the heads up though!

I made that mistake once and had to wait almost a whole extra week. Lesson learned!

The Washington ESD website says payments are processed within 2-3 business days of filing your weekly claim. So if you file Sunday, you should see it by Tuesday or Wednesday at the latest.

That matches what everyone else is saying. Thanks for confirming!

Does anyone know if the deposit time varies by region in Washington? I'm in Spokane and wondering if that affects anything.

Sarah Jones

•

No, it's all processed centrally by Washington ESD. Your location in the state doesn't matter.

Good to know, thanks! I was wondering if they processed different regions on different days.

Been on unemployment for 8 months now and it's always Tuesday morning for me. Wells Fargo bank. Only time it was different was during Christmas week when it came Wednesday.

That's very helpful to know. Sounds like Tuesday is the standard across the board.

If you ever need to check on a payment or resolve deposit issues, Claimyr has been a lifesaver for me. Way better than trying to get through to Washington ESD on your own.

How much does something like that cost? I'm on unemployment so money's tight.

I'd rather not discuss pricing here, but check out their website. The time and frustration it saves is worth it when you really need to reach someone.

TUESDAY MORNING every single week like clockwork. I set my alarm for 6am just to check my account lol. Never been late once in 4 months.

Haha that's dedication! Good to know it's so reliable though.

I do the same thing! It's like Christmas morning every Tuesday.

Just remember you have to keep doing your job search requirements even after you start getting payments. Washington ESD can audit your job search log at any time.

Thanks for the reminder. I've been keeping track of my job applications just in case.

Yeah I got audited last month and had to provide all my job search documentation. Good thing I kept records!

If your bank is slow with deposits, you might want to consider switching to a credit union. They tend to process ACH transfers faster than big banks.

I'll keep that in mind if I have issues with my current bank. Thanks!

Also make sure your direct deposit info is correct in your Washington ESD account. A wrong account number will delay your payment for weeks while they sort it out.

Drake

•

Good point, I double-checked that when I set up my account. Everything looks correct.

I had a friend who put in the wrong routing number and it took 3 weeks to fix. Nightmare!

One more thing about Claimyr - they're really helpful if you need to verify your direct deposit info with Washington ESD or check on payment status. Sometimes that's the only way to get answers quickly.

I'll definitely keep that in mind if I run into any issues. Thanks for all the help!

Tuesday morning deposit crew checking in! Been getting mine at 6:47am every Tuesday for months now. You'll get into a routine with it.

Looking forward to that routine! Thanks everyone for all the helpful info.
