When is unemployment paid out by Washington ESD each week?

I just got approved for unemployment benefits last week and I'm trying to figure out when Washington ESD actually pays out. I filed my weekly claim on Sunday but my bank account is still empty. Does anyone know what day of the week they usually deposit the money? I've been searching online but can't find a clear answer about their payment schedule.

Washington ESD typically processes payments on Tuesday nights, so you should see the deposit in your account by Wednesday morning if you filed your weekly claim on time. Make sure you completed your claim before the Sunday deadline.

Thanks! I did file on Sunday around 6pm so hopefully it went through on time.

Yeah Wednesday is usually when I see mine hit my account too

0 coins

It depends on your bank too though. Some banks post faster than others. I have Chase and usually see it Wednesday morning but my friend with a credit union doesn't get hers until Thursday sometimes.

I have Bank of America so hopefully they're quick about posting it.

BOA is usually pretty fast with government deposits in my experience

I've been trying to call Washington ESD for two weeks to ask about my payment timing but can never get through. The phone system is impossible! Anyone have tips for actually reaching someone?

I found this service called Claimyr that actually got me through to an Washington ESD agent last month. You can check it out at claimyr.com - they have a video demo at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ showing how it works. Way better than sitting on hold for hours.

Interesting, I'll check that out. I'm so tired of getting disconnected after waiting forever.

0 coins

Does that actually work? Sounds too good to be true honestly

Just to clarify the payment schedule: Washington ESD processes payments Monday night through Tuesday night depending on your claim type. Regular UI benefits are usually processed Tuesday night. If you file your weekly claim after the Sunday deadline, it gets pushed to the next week's processing cycle.

0 coins

Good to know about the deadline! I was wondering what happens if you're late filing.

0 coins

Wait so if I file Monday morning that's too late? That seems harsh

0 coins

You can still file Monday but it won't be processed until the following week's batch. The system is pretty strict about the Sunday cutoff.

Also make sure your direct deposit info is correct in your Washington ESD account. I had a friend who was waiting weeks for payments and it turns out her routing number was wrong.

0 coins

How do I check that? Is it in the main account dashboard?

0 coins

Log into your SecureAccess Washington account and look under payment preferences or direct deposit settings

Been getting unemployment for 3 months now and it's always Wednesday morning for me. Very consistent once you get in the routine.

0 coins

Same here, like clockwork every Wednesday

0 coins

That's reassuring, thanks for sharing your experience

0 coins

What if your claim is under adjudication? Do those payments still come on the same schedule once they're resolved?

0 coins

If your claim is in adjudication, payments are held until the issue is resolved. Once approved, you'll get backpay for all the weeks you were eligible, usually within 1-2 payment cycles.

0 coins

Thanks, mine's been in adjudication for 2 weeks now so I'm getting worried

0 coins

Adjudication can take forever unfortunately. I waited 6 weeks last year

0 coins

I tried that Claimyr thing someone mentioned earlier and it actually worked! Got through to Washington ESD in like 20 minutes instead of the usual 3 hour wait. They were able to tell me exactly when my next payment would process.

0 coins

Really? That's amazing. I'm definitely going to try it then.

0 coins

How much does it cost though? Is it worth the money?

0 coins

For me it was totally worth it to avoid the phone tree nightmare. Check out their demo video to see if it makes sense for your situation.

Pro tip: if you don't see your payment by Thursday morning, something is probably wrong. Either your weekly claim didn't go through properly or there's an issue with your account that needs attention.

0 coins

Good to know what the red flag timing is. Hopefully I won't need that info!

0 coins

Yeah if it's not there by Thursday definitely call or use one of those services to get through

0 coins

Does anyone know if holidays affect the payment schedule? Like if Tuesday is a holiday do they process Monday instead?

0 coins

Yes, holidays can shift the schedule. Washington ESD usually posts notices about holiday processing delays on their website.

0 coins

I remember last Memorial Day my payment was delayed by a day because of the holiday

0 coins

Thanks, I'll keep an eye on the calendar then

0 coins

The timing is pretty consistent but I've noticed my payments sometimes come Tuesday night around 11pm instead of Wednesday morning. Just depends on when your bank processes overnight deposits.

0 coins

Oh interesting, so it might actually be there earlier than I expect

0 coins

Yeah some banks are faster than others with the overnight processing

0 coins

Make sure you're not confusing the processing day with when you can actually access the money. Washington ESD processes Tuesday night but depending on your bank it might not be available until Wednesday afternoon.

0 coins

That's a good point, I'll check both Tuesday night and Wednesday morning just in case

0 coins

Some banks also have different posting times for different types of deposits

0 coins

Been on unemployment twice in the past 5 years and the payment timing has been super consistent both times. Tuesday night processing, Wednesday morning in my account. Washington ESD is actually pretty reliable once you get approved.

0 coins

That's really reassuring to hear from someone with experience. Thanks!

0 coins

Same experience here, very predictable schedule

0 coins

The hardest part is getting approved, after that it's smooth sailing

0 coins

Word of caution: if you ever have to reopen a claim or there are changes to your employment status, it can throw off the payment timing temporarily while they update your account.

0 coins

Good to know, hopefully I won't run into any complications like that

0 coins

Yeah any changes can cause delays while they verify the new information

0 coins

I use Claimyr whenever I need to talk to Washington ESD about payment issues. So much easier than trying to call directly. They helped me sort out a direct deposit problem that was causing payment delays.

0 coins

Seems like a lot of people have had success with that service. I'll bookmark it just in case.

0 coins

The peace of mind of being able to actually reach someone is worth it

0 coins

One more thing to remember: Washington ESD sends payment confirmations via email or through your online account. Check there first if you're not sure whether your payment processed.

0 coins

Thanks for the reminder! I should set up email notifications so I know when it's coming.

0 coins

The online account dashboard shows payment history too which is helpful for tracking

0 coins

Yeah the payment history section is really useful for keeping records
