What day does unemployment pay Washington ESD weekly benefits?
I just got approved for unemployment benefits through Washington ESD and I'm wondering what day of the week they actually deposit the money? I filed my weekly claim on Sunday but my bank account is still empty. Is there a specific day they send out payments or does it depend on when you file your weekly claim? I need to plan my bills around this.

Washington ESD typically processes payments on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. If you filed your weekly claim on Sunday, you should see the deposit by Wednesday evening, sometimes Thursday morning depending on your bank.

Thanks! That's helpful to know. I was worried something was wrong with my claim.

Yeah mine always hits on Wednesday, been consistent for months now.

The payment schedule depends on when you file your weekly claim. Most people file on Sunday so they get paid mid-week. But if you file later in the week, your payment gets pushed to the next cycle.

So if I file on like Thursday, I have to wait until the following week for payment?

Exactly. That's why it's important to file your weekly claim as early as possible each week.

Ugh I've been trying to call Washington ESD for weeks to ask this same question but can never get through! Their phone lines are always busy.

I had the same problem until I found this service called Claimyr at claimyr.com. They help you get through to actual Washington ESD agents without waiting on hold forever. There's a video demo at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ that shows how it works.

Really? That sounds too good to be true. Does it actually work?

Yeah it worked for me! I was able to get my adjudication issue resolved in like 2 days instead of waiting weeks.

Good to know! I have a credit union too so maybe I'll get it earlier.

Just to clarify the process - Washington ESD processes payments in batches. They review all weekly claims filed by Sunday night, then send payments out Tuesday/Wednesday. If there are any issues with your claim, it can delay payment.

What kind of issues delay payment? I'm worried mine might get held up.

Common issues include not reporting work hours correctly, not completing your job search activities, or if you're flagged for additional verification. Check your eServices account for any alerts.

Okay I'll check that right now. Thanks for the info!

Does anyone know if holidays affect the payment schedule? Like if Tuesday is a holiday, do they push it to Wednesday?

Giovanni Rossi
Yes, holidays can delay payments by a day or two. Washington ESD follows federal banking holidays.

I remember last Memorial Day my payment was delayed until Thursday.

Been getting unemployment for 6 months now and it's always been Wednesday for me. Very consistent.

Make sure you're filing your weekly claim every week even if you worked some hours! A lot of people think they don't need to file if they worked but you still need to report it to Washington ESD.

Wait really? I've been skipping weeks when I work part time. Am I going to get in trouble?

You should call Washington ESD to explain the situation. They might be able to help you file retroactive claims for those weeks.

This is exactly the kind of thing Claimyr can help with - getting through to an agent to fix filing mistakes.

Does the amount you get paid stay the same every week or can it change?
0 coins
Giovanni Rossi
Your weekly benefit amount stays the same unless you report earnings from part-time work. Then they reduce your payment based on how much you earned.

Got it, thanks for explaining that.

I get paid on different days depending on my bank. Chase usually gets it Wednesday, but when I used my credit union it was Tuesday night.

Interesting how different banks process it at different times.

THE WHOLE SYSTEM IS A MESS! I've been waiting 3 weeks for my first payment and nobody can tell me what's wrong!

If you're waiting 3 weeks, your claim is probably in adjudication. Check your eServices account for any outstanding issues that need to be resolved.

I've checked a million times and there's nothing there! This is so frustrating.

This is exactly why I tried that Claimyr service someone mentioned earlier. Sometimes you just need to talk to a real person.

Quick question - do they send a notification when payment is processed or do you just have to check your bank?

Giovanni Rossi
You can check your payment history in your eServices account on the Washington ESD website. It shows when payments are issued.

Perfect, I'll bookmark that page. Thanks!

Been on unemployment twice in the past 5 years and both times it was always Wednesday deposits. Pretty reliable once you get into the rhythm.

my sister in law works for washington esd and she says tuesday is when they send most payments out but depends on your bank when you actually see it

PixelWarrior
That matches what I've observed. Washington ESD sends it Tuesday, banks process it Wednesday typically.

Pro tip: if you're worried about timing, you can always check your eServices account to see if the payment shows as 'issued' before it hits your bank account.

That's a great tip! I'll remember to check there first.

Yeah I do this every week. Usually shows as issued Tuesday morning.

Just want to add that if you have direct deposit set up correctly, you shouldn't have any issues. The problems usually come from bank account changes or filing errors.

How do you make sure direct deposit is set up correctly?

Check your eServices account under 'Payment Method' and make sure your bank routing and account numbers are correct.

I always file my weekly claim Sunday night and get paid Wednesday morning like clockwork. Been doing this for 4 months now.

That's exactly what I needed to hear. Consistency is what I was hoping for.

One more thing - make sure you keep filing even if you don't get paid right away. Sometimes there are delays but you don't want to miss a week of filing.

This is important advice. I made the mistake of stopping when I didn't get paid one week and it created a bigger mess.

Exactly! Always keep filing your weekly claims no matter what.
