Thanks for posting this question! I'm in the same situation and all these responses have been really helpful. Good to know what to expect.
One last plug for anyone still struggling to reach Washington ESD - that Claimyr service (claimyr.com) really is a game changer. The peace of mind from actually talking to someone who can check your claim status is worth it. They show you exactly how it works in their demo video too.
One thing to watch out for - make sure your employer doesn't report the severance incorrectly to Washington ESD. Mine reported it as regular wages which caused problems with my claim.
Thanks for this thread everyone. I feel much more confident about filing my claim now. Going to do it today instead of waiting for my severance to end.
Just to give you some hope - my payment situation was similar and my first payment came through on a Wednesday morning in week 3. Woke up to a nice surprise in my checking account!
One last thing - if you do end up needing to contact Washington ESD about your claim, have all your information ready (SSN, claim number, dates of employment, etc.) so you don't waste time when you finally get through to someone.
Good advice, I'll put together a little cheat sheet with all my info in case I need to call. Thanks everyone for all the help and reassurance!
You're welcome! And seriously, if the phone system keeps giving you trouble, check out that Claimyr service. It made such a difference for me when I was in your situation.
The Wednesday deposit schedule has been consistent for me except during the week of Thanksgiving and Christmas when everything was delayed by a day. Other than holidays, I can count on getting paid every Wednesday.
One thing to watch out for - if Washington ESD sends you any correspondence or requests for additional information, respond immediately. I ignored a letter asking for wage verification because I thought it was spam and they stopped my payments for 2 weeks until I got it sorted out with Claimyr's help getting through to an agent.
This is exactly why I keep that Claimyr bookmark handy. Never know when you'll need to actually talk to someone at Washington ESD quickly.

Just remember that even after your regular unemployment runs out, you might be eligible for other assistance programs like food stamps or DSHS benefits while you continue job searching.

•That's something I hadn't considered. Hopefully I won't need it but good to know options exist.

•Yeah, just something to keep in mind for financial planning. The transition from unemployment benefits to finding work can sometimes take longer than the 26 weeks allows.

One last tip - keep detailed records of everything related to your claim. Dates you filed, job search activities, any correspondence with Washington ESD. If there are ever issues with your claim, having good documentation helps resolve them faster.
