Good luck with your claim! Being fired doesn't automatically disqualify you from unemployment benefits. Washington ESD looks at the specific circumstances of each case.
Just want to add that I used Claimyr recently when I had a similar issue with Washington ESD not returning my calls. Got through to someone who actually looked at my case and explained everything clearly. Worth considering if you're having trouble reaching them.
Same here - Claimyr helped me get connected when I was dealing with an overpayment issue. Their service really works.
Bottom line is don't panic but do act quickly. File your appeal, gather your documentation, and try to get clarification from Washington ESD about the specific reason for disqualification. Most legitimate cases get resolved eventually.
Thanks everyone for all this info. I feel better knowing what to watch out for. Sounds like as long as I keep reporting everything accurately and maintain good records, I should be okay. Will definitely respond quickly if I ever get any notices from Washington ESD!
And remember Claimyr is there if you ever need help reaching Washington ESD quickly about any issues. Much better than spending hours on hold.
One more thing - if you do have to repay benefits, Washington ESD usually offers payment plans. Don't try to hide from it, work with them to set up something manageable.
One more thing - if you do any part-time work while collecting unemployment, you need to report those earnings on your weekly claim. They'll reduce your benefits based on how much you earn, but you won't necessarily lose all your benefits as long as you're under a certain threshold.
The key thing is just to get started. Don't wait around trying to figure out every detail - file your initial claim as soon as possible and then you can ask questions as they come up. The longer you wait, the more money you're potentially losing.

Remember you can work part-time while on unemployment but they'll reduce your benefits based on what you earn. There's a formula for that too but basically you can earn up to your weekly benefit amount before they start deducting.

•Just make sure to report any earnings when you file your weekly claims. Being honest about income is super important.

The whole unemployment system seems complicated but once you get into the routine it's pretty manageable. File your weekly claims, do your job searches, and keep good records of everything.

•Good luck with your claim! Hope you find a new job soon but at least the unemployment benefits will help in the meantime.
