Make sure you have your bank account information ready when you file - they'll ask how you want to receive payments. Direct deposit is fastest.
One last thing - keep detailed records of everything once you start the process. Save confirmation numbers, print out important pages, keep track of all your weekly claim submissions. If anything goes wrong later, you'll need that documentation.
Thanks for posting this question! I'm in the same situation and all these responses have been really helpful. Good to know what to expect.
One last plug for anyone still struggling to reach Washington ESD - that Claimyr service (claimyr.com) really is a game changer. The peace of mind from actually talking to someone who can check your claim status is worth it. They show you exactly how it works in their demo video too.
For anyone still struggling to get through to ESD, that Claimyr service really does work. I was able to get my adjudication issue resolved after weeks of trying to call directly. Sometimes you just need to talk to an actual person.
Just remember that qualifying is only the first step. You still need to meet ongoing requirements like job searching and filing weekly claims. The system is designed to help people who are genuinely looking for work, not just taking a break.
The worst part is not knowing if you did something wrong or if it's just slow. I kept second-guessing every answer I gave on my application thinking maybe I messed something up.
Update for anyone still following - got my determination letter today (day 12) and my claim was approved! First payment should hit my account in the next few days. So for me it ended up being about 2 weeks total which seems to be pretty typical based on what everyone here said.

Just don't get too comfortable on unemployment. The state wants you off the rolls as fast as possible and they'll make it increasingly difficult as time goes on. 26 weeks sounds like a lot but it's really not in today's job market.

•More scrutiny of your job search, random requests for documentation, eligibility reviews. They have ways of pressuring people to take any job.

•While ESD does have ongoing eligibility requirements, most claimants who consistently follow the rules don't experience increased scrutiny over time.

Thanks everyone for all the detailed information! I feel much more confident now about understanding my benefits and what I need to do. 26 weeks gives me a good timeframe to work with for my job search.

•And remember about Claimyr if you need to reach ESD for anything - much easier than trying to call yourself!
