Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. So frustrating! What fixed my issue was connecting with a live agent through claimyr.com after weeks of trying on my own. They call and wait on hold for you, then connect you when they get a human. It was the only thing that helped me finally get my account unlocked.
I get the skepticism, I was the same way. But after 6 weeks of no benefits I was willing to try anything. And it actually worked - talking to an agent solved my issue in one call.
So I was about to throw my phone after 3 hours on hold when my friend told me about this. Got a live person in about 90 minutes. Totally worth it.

whatevr u do, dont give up!!! i almost did and then finally got thru and they paid me 8000 backdated!!
Contact your state representative or assemblyperson! I was stuck in limbo for months, emailed my state senator's office, and they helped push my claim through within a week. They have special contacts at unemployment.
👆 This actually works. They have special phone numbers they can call to check on claims.

I kno this sounds crazy but try calling exactly at 4:57pm. For some reason thats when I always get through. The hold music will play for like 30-45 mins but you'll eventually get a person. Worked for me 3 times.
Email them through the contact form on the website AND send a message through your online account messaging system. Sometimes they respond faster to written communications than phone calls. Make your message short, specific and include all your identifying info (claim ID, last 4 of SSN, etc).

Yes! Attach everything but make sure the files aren't too large or it might reject the submission.

Did anyone notice they updated the phone system recently? Now it disconnects you if the wait is too long instead of keeping you on hold forever... somehow that's even worse?

•I was in the same situation - you definitely need to file a new claim. But be prepared for it to take a few weeks to process.

I love that we're all here supporting each other but let's not forget the REAL issue - the NY unemployment system is literally designed to be so frustrating that people give up. We shouldn't have to form support groups just to access benefits we PAID INTO.
