Warning: Respect each other in the NY unemployment community or face removal

Thank you for saying this! I've seen some really nasty comments lately on peoples posts who are just desperate for help. Some people forget that we're all just tryna survive and this unemployment situation in NY is hard enough without the added nastiness.

After struggling for months trying to reach ny unemployment by phone, I finally found a service called Claimyr that got me through to a live agent! I agree with the sentiment but can we also talk about how BROKEN the system is that we even need support groups like this in the first place?? The whole NY unemployment setup is designed to be confusing and frustrating. It's like they WANT people to give up 🤬

Look I understand the frustration but I've been noticing a lot of the same questions being asked over and over. People should at least try searching the group before posting the same thing for the 100th time. Just saying.

Every call, every letter, every email. Dates, times, names if possible. 3. Reach out to your state representative. This actually worked for me when nothing else did. 4. Be persistent but professional. The people on the other end are also humans dealing with an overloaded system. Hang in there everybody. This too shall pass.

I think we gotta remember that people come here cuz they're desperate. I know I was when I first found this group. Lost my job, rent was due, and the unemployment site kept giving me errors. This group literally saved me from being evicted.

its not just about being nice tho the real issue is the system is DESIGNED to fail us. i been on unemployment 3x in my life and its ALWAYS a nightmare. they make it hard on purpose so people give up and they dont have to pay 💯

Ok but can we also talk about how some people in here are giving straight up WRONG advice?? I saw someone yesterday telling ppl to file a new claim when that would actually RESET their benefit year. Bad info is sometimes worse than no info.

I honestly dont know what id do without this group. after 6 weeks of pending payments i was ready to give up until someone here recommended contacting my state assembly person AND using claimyr.com to actually get someone on the phone. Got my backpay 3 days later!

hey guys quick question - if my benefit year just ended but I still have a balance, do I need to file a new claim or just keep certifying?

I love that we're all here supporting each other but let's not forget the REAL issue - the NY unemployment system is literally designed to be so frustrating that people give up. We shouldn't have to form support groups just to access benefits we PAID INTO.
