Thank you for this reminder! Its so easy to get frustrated with the NY unemployment system (I've been waiting 7 weeks for my claim to process) but we're all in this together. The negativity doesn't help anyone.

It's RIDICULOUS how complicated they make this process! The website looks like it was designed in 1995 and half the links don't even work. Why can't they just make a simple system that actually FUNCTIONS? My kids need to eat NOW, not after I figure out their byzantine system of forms and waiting periods!

Has anyone else noticed that the NY unemployment site is down AGAIN? Third time this month. I have to certify today and I'm worried I'll miss my window and lose a week of benefits. Why can't they fix their terrible system instead of making us suffer?

If the system is down when you need to certify, document it with screenshots showing the error message and the date/time. You can call and explain the situation to get a retroactive certification. This happens during their system upgrades, which should be completed by tomorrow morning.

my cousin works for the labor department and says theyre super understaffed rn. like hundreds of thousands of claims and not enough people to process them. not saying its right but thats why everything takes forever
