ESD forum moderators allowing harassment - how to report inappropriate comments?
I've been using this forum for help with my unemployment claim and noticed a lot of really nasty comments directed at people just asking simple questions. Someone literally told a person asking about standby status to 'stop being lazy and get a job' and the comment is still there days later! Aren't there moderators who should remove these kinds of attacks? We're all here because we're struggling and need help navigating ESD's complicated system. The last thing anyone needs is to be attacked for asking questions. Has anyone successfully reported abusive comments here? Who actually oversees this forum?

I've noticed this too. There's a 'Report' button at the bottom of each comment, but honestly I don't think anyone checks those reports. I clicked it on several really nasty comments last month and they're still up. The moderation here seems practically non-existent compared to other forums I use.

•Thanks for confirming I'm not imagining things! I tried that report button too but nothing happened. It's really frustrating when you're already stressed about your ESD claim and then get attacked for asking questions.

This is unfortunately common across many unemployment forums. While we wait for better moderation, I'd recommend focusing on the helpful responses and ignoring the negative ones. If you're having specific issues with your ESD claim that brought you here in the first place, what are you struggling with? Perhaps we can help with the actual unemployment questions while the moderation issues get sorted out.

•You're right, better to focus on the helpful people. My main issue right now is that my claim has been in adjudication for 6 weeks with no updates. I've left messages in the ESD portal but haven't heard anything back. Starting to get really worried about paying bills.

•Wait, this isn't an official ESD forum?? I assumed it was connected to the Washington ESD somehow. That explains the lack of moderation I guess.

Regarding your adjudication issue - 6 weeks is unfortunately not uncommon, but you can try to get through to an actual ESD agent to check the status. I was in adjudication for nearly 8 weeks last year and finally used a service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that got me through to an ESD agent within about an hour instead of spending days trying to call myself. They have a video that shows how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 The agent I spoke with was able to tell me exactly what was holding up my claim and what documents I needed to submit to resolve it. Worth considering if you're getting desperate.

•I used this service too! Had been trying to call ESD for THREE WEEKS with no luck. Got through in 45 min with Claimyr. My adjudication was stuck because they needed verification of my last day worked that didn't match what my employer reported. Simple fix once I actually talked to someone.

•Thank you! I'll check this out. I'm definitely at the desperate point since rent is coming up and I have no idea if my benefits will start anytime soon.

As someone who's been on both sides of this (both a claimant and someone who's helped administer benefits in the past), I can tell you that unofficial forums like this one often lack proper moderation. The harassment issue is real and unfortunate. Regarding your adjudication - 6 weeks is concerning. Have you tried calling the ESD office directly? While their phone lines are notoriously difficult to get through, with persistence you may be able to speak with someone who can check your claim status. Make sure you have your claim ID and personal information ready when you call. Also, check your ESD online account for any alerts that might indicate missing information they need from you.

•I've tried calling at least 20 times over the past few weeks. Either get the 'call volume too high' message or wait on hold for an hour+ only to get disconnected. I'll keep trying though. There are no alerts in my account asking for additional info, which is the frustrating part - I can't tell what's wrong.

•9 weeks?? Ugh that's scary. Did you eventually get paid for all the weeks you claimed during adjudication?

Back to your original question about moderation - I did find an email address for the site administrators at the very bottom of the page. Maybe try sending a message there specifically about the harassment issues? Might be more effective than the report button.

•Good suggestion, I'll try that. Thanks for being one of the helpful people here!
