Thanks for the reminder. The off-topic posts have been getting out of hand lately. I come here for help with my NY unemployment issues, not to see random ads and personal drama.

•Same here! I've noticed so many ppl trying to sell stuff or ask about completely unrelated things. This should be ONLY about unemployment problems in NY.

Good policy. For those who are new, please remember to use the search function before posting. Many common questions about NY unemployment have already been answered in previous threads.

•The search function barely works tho... I tried looking for info about backdating my claim and got like 50 random posts that had nothing to do with what I needed 🤷♀️

THANK YOU!!! So tired of seeing people hawking their MLM garbage or asking about food stamps when this is CLEARLY an UNEMPLOYMENT group. Some of us are really struggling with our NY DOL claims and need ACTUAL help without wading through a ton of unrelated posts.

•Exactly! I spent 3 weeks trying to get through to an actual person at the NY unemployment office about my pending claim, and when I finally found this group, half the posts were completely irrelevant. I ended up using Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get connected to an agent - their video demo shows exactly how it works: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE. Saved me hours of frustration.

does this mean we cant ask about food stamps at all? because sometimes ppl need both unemployment AND snap benefits and theyre kinda related??

•This group is specifically for NY unemployment insurance questions and support. While we understand many people need multiple types of assistance, there are dedicated groups for SNAP/food stamps where you'll get better answers for those specific programs.

•THIS IS EXACTLY THE PROBLEM!!! Why would you ask about an accountant in an UNEMPLOYMENT group??? SMH

Just a friendly reminder that if you have questions about other government assistance programs that might be available while you're receiving unemployment benefits, you can check the NY.gov website for comprehensive information about complementary services.

•That's actually really helpful advice. When I was struggling with my unemployment claim last month, I found out I qualified for some other assistance programs I didn't even know about. The NY.gov site has everything linked.

•Questions about the NY unemployment website, application process, and claim management are definitely on-topic and welcome in this group! That's exactly what we're here for.
