How can I track my unemployment debit card - NYS Department of Labor payment missing
I filed my weekly claim on Sunday and it shows as processed on my.ny.gov but I still haven't received my unemployment payment on my debit card. It's been 3 days now and usually the money shows up within 2 days. Is there a way to track where my payment is or check if there's an issue with my KeyBank debit card? I tried calling the card customer service but they just said no deposit has been made yet. Getting really stressed about this since I have bills due.

Check your payment history on the my.ny.gov portal first. Go to Unemployment Services > Payment History and see if the payment status shows 'Issued' or still shows 'Processing'. If it shows issued with a date, then the problem is with KeyBank. You can also check your card balance by calling the number on the back of your unemployment debit card or logging into the KeyBank mobile app.

•Just checked and it shows 'Issued' with yesterday's date. So the NYS Department of Labor sent it but KeyBank doesn't have it yet? That's weird.

this happened to me too last month, sometimes there's a delay between when NYS Department of Labor says they issued the payment and when it actually hits your card. Give it another day or two before panicking

•How long did yours take? I really can't afford to wait much longer.

•mine took 5 days total that time, which was way longer than usual. turned out there was some processing issue on the bank side

If the NYS Department of Labor payment history shows 'Issued', the delay is definitely on KeyBank's end. You can file a claim with KeyBank for a delayed deposit if it's been more than 3 business days since the issue date. They have a specific process for unemployment payment delays. Also, make sure your card isn't expired or blocked - sometimes cards get automatically blocked for suspicious activity and you won't get notified right away.

•Good point about the card being blocked. How would I check that? The automated phone system doesn't tell me if it's blocked.

•Try making a small purchase or checking your balance at an ATM. If the card is blocked, you'll get an error message. You can also try the KeyBank website or app to see if you can log in successfully.

I've had this exact same problem multiple times and it's SO frustrating when you're counting on that money! What finally worked for me was using Claimyr to get through to an actual NYS Department of Labor representative who could look into the payment issue. I found them at claimyr.com and they have a video demo at https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI that shows how it works. Much better than sitting on hold for hours trying to reach someone yourself.

•Never heard of that service before. Is it legit? Sounds too good to be true if they can actually get you through to NYS Department of Labor.

•Yeah it's totally legitimate. I was skeptical too but I was desperate after waiting on hold for 4 hours one day and getting disconnected. They basically handle the calling and waiting part for you so you don't have to waste your whole day trying to reach someone.

The whole NYS Department of Labor payment system is a mess if you ask me. I've been getting unemployment for 6 months and probably had delays like this at least 4 times. Sometimes it's the state, sometimes it's KeyBank, and they always blame each other. At least you can see it shows as issued - that's better than when it gets stuck in adjudication for weeks.

•Wait, what do you mean stuck in adjudication? That sounds scary.

•Oh that's a whole different nightmare. That's when they're reviewing your claim for some reason and you don't get paid at all until they finish. Can take weeks or months.

I work at a local bank and see this issue fairly often with unemployment payments. Since your payment shows as "Issued" on the NYS portal, the delay is definitely on the banking side. KeyBank processes unemployment deposits in batches, usually overnight, but sometimes there are technical delays or the batch gets held up for fraud screening. I'd recommend calling KeyBank's unemployment card line specifically (should be a different number than regular customer service) - they have more detailed info about pending deposits. Also, if you have direct deposit set up to a different bank account, sometimes payments get rerouted there instead of the debit card, so double-check that too.

•Thanks for the insider perspective! I didn't even know there was a separate unemployment card line for KeyBank. Do you happen to know what that number is? The regular customer service line I called yesterday wasn't very helpful - they just said "no deposit received" and couldn't tell me if there were any pending transactions or issues with my account.

Hey there! I went through this exact same situation a few weeks ago and it was so stressful. Since your payment shows as "Issued" on the NY portal, that's actually a good sign - it means the state processed everything correctly. What helped me was calling KeyBank early in the morning (around 8 AM) when the wait times are shorter. Also, try checking if you have any text alerts set up for your card - sometimes they send notifications about deposit delays that you might have missed. In my case, the money showed up on day 4, and KeyBank later told me there had been a "processing backlog" that week. Hang in there, it should come through soon!

•Thanks for sharing your experience! It's reassuring to know I'm not the only one who's dealt with this. I'll definitely try calling KeyBank first thing in the morning - that's a great tip about the shorter wait times. I don't think I have text alerts set up, so I should probably enable those too. Day 4 gives me some hope since I'm only on day 3 now. Did they give you any compensation or explanation for the processing backlog when your payment finally came through?
