How long for NYS Department of Labor unemployment to deposit after weekly claim certification?
I certified my weekly claim on Tuesday morning and it's now Friday with no deposit yet. This is my third week on unemployment and the first two payments came within 2-3 days. Is this normal or should I be worried? My claim status still shows 'approved' but the payment history doesn't show this week's payment yet. How long does it usually take for unemployment to deposit after you file your weekly claim?

Payment timing can vary depending on several factors. Typically, if you certify on Tuesday, you should see the deposit by Thursday or Friday. However, if there are any flags on your claim or if NYS Department of Labor needs to review something, it can take longer. Check your payment history on the my.ny.gov portal to see if the payment shows as 'released' or 'pending'.

•Thanks! Just checked and it shows 'payment released' as of yesterday so hopefully it hits my account tomorrow.

mine always takes 3-4 days, sometimes longer if theres a holiday or weekend involved

If you're having consistent delays, you might want to call NYS Department of Labor to make sure there isn't an issue with your banking information or claim. I had a similar problem and it turned out my bank account info got corrupted in their system somehow. They fixed it over the phone and payments started coming on time again.

•Good point about the banking info. How long did it take you to get through to someone? I've heard the wait times are terrible.

•I actually used Claimyr (claimyr.com) when I couldn't get through to NYS Department of Labor myself. They have a service that calls for you and gets you connected to an agent. There's a video demo at https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI that shows how it works. Saved me hours of calling and getting hung up on.

UGH the payment delays are so stressful!! I've been on unemployment for 2 months and it's never consistent. Sometimes Tuesday certification means Wednesday deposit, sometimes it's Friday or even Monday. How are we supposed to budget when we never know when the money will actually show up?? The NYS Department of Labor really needs to fix their payment system.

Same thing happened to me last week - certified Tuesday, didn't get paid until the following Monday. No explanation, just delayed. As long as your claim status is good you should get it eventually.

I'm new to the NY unemployment system and this thread is really helpful! I just filed my first weekly claim yesterday (Wednesday) so I'm not sure what to expect for timing. Based on what everyone is saying, it sounds like 2-4 days is normal but can be unpredictable. @Omar hopefully your payment comes through soon since it shows as released! I'll keep an eye on my account and try not to stress if it takes a few extra days.
