If I could give 10 stars I would

If I could give 10 stars I would If I could give 10 stars I would Such an amazing service so needed during the times when EDD almost never picks up Claimyr gets me on the phone with EDD every time without fail faster. A much needed service without Claimyr I would have never received the payment I needed to support me during my postpartum recovery. Thank you so much Claimyr!

Really made a difference

Really made a difference, save me time and energy from going to a local office for making the call.

Worth not wasting your time calling for hours.

Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. Today my call dropped because of EDD and Claimyr heard my concern on the same chat and another call was made within the hour.

An incredibly helpful service

An incredibly helpful service! Got me connected to a CA EDD agent without major hassle (outside of EDD's agents dropping calls – which Claimyr has free protection for). If you need to file a new claim and can't do it online, pay the $ to Claimyr to get the process started. Absolutely worth it!

Consistent,frustration free, quality Service.

Used this service a couple times now. Before I'd call 200 times in less than a weak frustrated as can be. But using claimyr with a couple hours of waiting i was on the line with an representative or on hold. Dropped a couple times but each reconnected not long after and was mission accomplished, thanks to Claimyr.

IT WORKS!! Not a scam!

I tried for weeks to get thru to EDD PFL program with no luck. I gave this a try thinking it may be a scam. OMG! It worked and They got thru within an hour and my claim is going to finally get paid!! I upgraded to the $60 call. Best $60 spent!

Before you quit, try calling NYS Department of Labor directly to discuss your situation. I know their phone lines are always busy, but I actually used a service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that helped me get through to an actual agent. They have this video demo at https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI that shows how it works. The agent was able to explain exactly what documentation I'd need for a good cause quit before I made any decisions.

That's really helpful, thank you! I had no idea there was a way to actually talk to someone at NYS Department of Labor without waiting on hold forever.

just want to add that even if you do get approved for quitting with good cause, there might be a longer waiting period before benefits start. and you'll still need to do job search activities and file weekly claims. the whole system is designed to make it as difficult as possible

The whole unemployment system is so confusing! I keep worrying I'm going to answer something wrong on my weekly claim and lose my benefits. Why can't they just make it simple - you're either unemployed or you're not, right??

These academic definitions don't mean much when you're just trying to survive between jobs. NYS Department of Labor bureaucracy loves their categories and classifications but at the end of the day we're all just people trying to pay rent while looking for work.

Most employers have to pay both state and federal unemployment taxes. The federal rate is 6% on first $7,000 of wages but they get credit for state taxes paid so it usually works out to 0.6%. Your employer claiming they don't have to pay sounds fishy - definitely report this to NYS Department of Labor.

same thing happened to my friend, turned out her boss was just lying to avoid paying taxes... some employers think they can get away with anything

I work in data analysis and from what I can see unemployment is definitely higher in certain upstate counties compared to NYC metro area. Tourism-dependent areas got hit pretty hard and haven't fully recovered. Construction has been variable - some areas busy with infrastructure projects while others are slowing down.

honestly the whole system is just overwhelmed right now, doesn't matter what industry you're in if you lose your job you're gonna be waiting weeks just to get your first payment

So true! My adjudication took forever and I still don't understand why. At least I finally got approved but the whole process was stressful.

you might want to look into constructive discharge too. if they're making working conditions so bad that any reasonable person would quit, that could be treated like being fired instead of quitting

Good point about constructive discharge, but that's an even higher bar to meet than good cause. You'd need to show the employer deliberately made conditions intolerable to force you out.

Been following this thread and just wanted to say hang in there. Dealing with bad work situations is really stressful. Whatever you decide, make sure you have a plan first.
