THE WHOLE SYSTEM IS A JOKE! They make it impossible to get help when you need it most. I've been trying to resolve an overpayment issue for months and every time I call they transfer me to someone else who transfers me again. It's like they WANT people to give up.
Just wanted to add that when I reopened my claim last year, everything went smoothly online. The key is making sure you do it as soon as possible after becoming unemployed again. There might be a waiting week depending on your situation, but your benefit amount should stay the same as your original claim.
If you're having trouble getting through to NYS Department of Labor to file or have questions, I actually used this service called Claimyr recently when my claim got stuck in adjudication. They help you get connected to actual agents without waiting on hold forever. Check out claimyr.com - they have a video demo at https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI that shows how it works. Way easier than trying to call the regular number and getting hung up on.
I had major issues reaching anyone at NYS Department of Labor when my claim got stuck. Spent weeks calling and either getting busy signals or being hung up on after waiting on hold. Finally found this service called Claimyr at claimyr.com that helped me get through to an actual agent. They have a video demo at https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI showing how it works. Made the whole process so much easier than trying to call myself.
The whole adjudication system is a joke honestly. They make you wait forever just to verify obvious stuff. Like if your employer reports you were laid off, why does it take 2 months to confirm that?? It's just another way for NYS Department of Labor to delay paying out benefits and save money.
same boat here! been in adjudication for 4 weeks after getting fired. well not fired exactly but they said i violated company policy by being late too many times. im worried thats going to count as misconduct even though i had a good reason (car troubles). anyone know if transportation issues count as good cause?
Transportation difficulties can potentially be considered good cause, but it depends on the specific circumstances and whether you made efforts to resolve the issue or notify your employer. You might want to gather documentation about your car problems and any communication with your employer about the attendance issues.

ugh the whole NYS Department of Labor system is so confusing. I filed 3 weeks ago and STILL don't know my benefit amount because my claim is stuck in some kind of review. Can't get through on the phone either - always busy signal or they hang up after an hour on hold.

•I had the same problem with getting through to NYS Department of Labor by phone. Found this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that actually got me connected to an agent in like 20 minutes. They have a video demo showing how it works: https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI. Saved me hours of calling and getting nowhere.
