2025 NY unemployment 1099G form requested by mail not received - anyone else waiting?

I requested to have my NY unemployment 1099G tax form sent to me by mail on January 21st because I can't access my account online anymore (password reset issues and verification loop problems). It's now February 15th and I still haven't received anything in the mail. This is getting frustrating since I need it to file my taxes and the deadline is approaching. Has anyone else requested their 1099G by mail this year? How long did it take to arrive? Should I be worried at this point or just keep waiting?

Thanks for responding. Have you tried calling at different times of the day? I'm thinking about trying super early when they first open.

The NYSDOL is severely backlogged with 1099G requests this year. I requested mine on January 12th and just received it yesterday. According to their website, they're currently experiencing 3-4 week processing times for mailed forms due to a new tax reporting system implementation. Keep in mind that once they process your request, it still takes 5-7 business days for USPS delivery. So you're looking at potentially 5 weeks total from request to mailbox.

Thank you for the detailed information! I'll give it another week then. Do you happen to know if there's a way to check the status of the request online even if I can't access my full account?

Unfortunately, there's no way to check the status of a mailed 1099G request if you can't access your online account. If you need it urgently, you'll need to speak with a representative directly. The best times to call are Tuesday-Thursday between 8:15-8:45am or 4:30-4:45pm when call volumes are statistically lower.

What if we need to file our taxes NOW?? I'm in the same boat and my tax guy is pushing me to get this form ASAP because he thinks I might get a refund this year. So frustrating that they can't just email these things!!! Has anyone tried going to an actual office to get the form in person??? I'm seriously considering driving 45 minutes to the nearest NYSDOL office tomorrow.

I was in the exact same situation last week and was getting desperate. Calling the regular number was useless - busy signals or 2+ hour wait times. I found this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that got me connected to an actual agent in about 8 minutes. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE. The agent was able to email me a copy of my 1099G right away once I verified my identity. Saved me from having to drive to an office or wait for who knows how long.

Why does everybody wait till last minute to do this stuff? They send these forms automatically in january if u had unemployment during the year. You probably moved and didnt update your address lol

I didn't move and I didn't wait until the last minute. I requested it on January 21st which is pretty early in tax season. And they don't automatically mail them anymore - they post them to your online account and you have to specifically request a paper copy if you need one, which is what I did.

This is a common issue this year due to the NYSDOL's transition to their new integrated benefits system. Here's what you need to know: 1. The standard processing time for mailed 1099G forms is currently 17-21 business days (not calendar days) 2. If you need your 1099G urgently, you have three options: - Request an emergency expedited copy by calling the dedicated 1099G hotline: (888) 209-8124, press 2, then 5 - Visit a Career Center in person (appointment recommended) - Use the ID.me verification process to regain online account access 3. If filing your taxes by April 15th deadline will be impossible, you can file IRS Form 4868 for an automatic six-month extension The delay is frustrating but they are legally required to provide this document. Keep documentation of your request date in case you need to file a complaint.

Thank you so much for this detailed response! I'll try the dedicated hotline tomorrow morning. I've been calling the main number with no luck. Really appreciate the specific instructions.

My sister had same problem but hers finally came yesterday. She requested on Jan 11th so its taking them like a month+ to send these out. Last year only took like a week! Their system is probably broken again like everything else they do...

UPDATE: Finally received my 1099G yesterday! So it took exactly 4 weeks from request to delivery. I also managed to get through on the phone using the dedicated hotline number that someone mentioned above. The rep said they're extremely backlogged this year because of the system update. Hope yours comes soon!
