DETR hung up on me - Need help with weekly claim!

Hey everyone, I'm having trouble with my weekly claim. I tried calling the unemployment office but they hung up on me as soon as I got through. Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice on how to actually get help?

Ugh, classic DETR move. They're probably overwhelmed with calls. Have you tried filing online? Sometimes that's faster than calling.

Yeah, I've tried online but there's an issue with my claim that requires talking to someone. It's so frustrating!

Online is a joke too. I've been trying for weeks and keep getting error messages. The whole system is broken 🤬

I feel your pain. I was in the same boat last month. Keep trying to call, but also try early in the morning or late afternoon. Sometimes those are less busy times.

Have you guys heard about this new service that calls for you and waits on hold? I used it last week and it actually worked. It's called Claimyr or something. Costs like $20 but it saved me hours of frustration. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Mc9FNfOF_yY

Sounds sketchy. How does it work exactly?

0 coins

It's legit! You pay, then their system calls and navigates the phone menu. When a real person answers, it connects you. Saved me a ton of time.

$20 to talk to someone we should be able to reach anyway? That's ridiculous. The system is so broken 🤦‍♂️

I get it, but for me it was worth it. I was losing my mind trying to get through on my own.

Pro tip: if you can, try calling from a different phone number. Sometimes they block numbers that call too often. Also, be persistent! It took me like 50 tries but I finally got through last week.

50 tries?! Ain't nobody got time for that! 😫

lol I know, it was a nightmare. But I was desperate 🤷‍♀️

Here's what worked for me: 1. Call right when they open 2. If you get hung up on, wait 5 minutes before calling back 3. Try different menu options - sometimes other departments can transfer you 4. Be super nice to whoever you talk to, even if you're frustrated 5. Have all your info ready so you can get through the call quickly Hope this helps! The system sucks but don't give up.

I've been dealing with this for MONTHS. At this point, I'm convinced they're just ignoring us on purpose. Anyone know if there's a way to file a complaint or something?

You can try contacting your local representative. They sometimes have connections that can help speed things up.

Good idea, I'll give that a shot. Thanks!

Guys, I think I found a secret number that works! DM me if you want it. Don't want to post it here in case they see it and shut it down.

Sent you a DM! 🙏

Is this legit or another scam? 🤔

100% legit, I promise. Just trying to help out fellow claimants!

I feel your frustration! I had the same issue last month. One thing that helped me was calling exactly at 8:00 AM when they open - set multiple alarms and be ready to dial the second it hits 8. Also, try calling on Tuesday or Wednesday, Mondays and Fridays seem to be the worst. When you do get through, have your SSN, claim number, and ID ready so you can get through security quickly. It's ridiculous we have to jump through these hoops, but hang in there - you'll get through eventually! 💪

This is such great advice! I never thought about the timing being so important. Tuesday/Wednesday tip is really helpful - makes total sense that Mondays would be crazy busy with everyone trying to catch up from the weekend. Definitely going to try the 8 AM sharp strategy tomorrow. Thanks for sharing what worked for you! 🙏

Yes! The timing strategy is everything. I actually keep a spreadsheet of when I've called and what happened - Tuesday mornings around 8:15 AM have been my sweet spot. Also found that if you get the busy signal, don't give up right away. Sometimes if you wait 30 seconds and try again, it'll go through. The system is definitely overwhelmed but there are patterns you can learn. Good luck everyone!

I've been dealing with this exact same issue for weeks now! What's worked for me recently is using the callback feature if it's available - sometimes you can request a callback instead of waiting on hold. Also, I've had better luck calling the technical support line (775-684-0350) and asking them to transfer me to claims. They seem less overwhelmed and more willing to help. Another trick: if you get through to someone and they can't help with your specific issue, ask them to schedule you a callback with the right department rather than hanging up and starting over. It's frustrating that we have to be so strategic just to get basic help, but don't give up! The squeaky wheel gets the grease with DETR.

Wow, the callback feature is a game changer! I had no idea that was even an option. And that technical support number is gold - I'm definitely going to try calling them first tomorrow. It makes so much sense that they'd be less swamped than the main claims line. Thanks for sharing these insider tips! 🙌 Sometimes I feel like we need a whole strategy guide just to access our own benefits, but I really appreciate people like you sharing what actually works.

Just went through this nightmare myself! Here's what finally worked for me: download an auto-redialer app (there are free ones) and set it to call every 2-3 minutes starting at 7:58 AM. I also discovered that if you press 0 during the menu instead of following the prompts, sometimes it gets you to a human faster. And honestly? Don't feel bad about the paid callback services like Claimyr that others mentioned - I held out for "principle" for weeks and finally caved. Best $20 I ever spent because my time and sanity are worth more than that. The system is broken and we shouldn't have to do all this, but we gotta work with what we have. You'll get through eventually - keep fighting! 💪

The auto-redialer app idea is brilliant! 🤯 I've been manually calling over and over like a caveman. And you're so right about the paid services - I was being stubborn about the "principle" too, but honestly if it saves hours of my life and stress, it's totally worth it. Thanks for the tip about pressing 0 during the menu - I always assumed I had to follow their prompts exactly. Going to try all of these tomorrow morning. It's crazy that we've basically created our own underground support network just to access basic government services, but I'm grateful for people sharing what actually works! 🙏

I'm so sorry you're dealing with this! I just went through the exact same thing last week - got hung up on three times in a row. What finally worked for me was calling the moment they opened at 8 AM on a Wednesday, and I had all my documents pulled up on my computer so I could answer their questions super quickly. I also wrote down my SSN, claim number, and the specific issue I was calling about so I wouldn't stumble when they asked. It's absolutely ridiculous that we have to strategize like this just to get help with our own benefits, but unfortunately that seems to be the reality. Don't give up - you WILL get through eventually! Also, make sure you're calling the right number for your specific issue - sometimes there are different lines for different problems. Hang in there! 🤞

This is such solid advice! I never thought about having everything written down beforehand - that's probably why I fumbled when I finally got someone on the line last time. The tip about calling the right number for your specific issue is huge too. I wasted so much time calling the general line when I probably needed a different department. It really is insane that we need military-level planning just to access unemployment benefits, but I appreciate you sharing what worked. Going to prep everything tonight and try the Wednesday 8 AM strategy! 🤞

I've been lurking here for weeks dealing with the same issue and finally have something to add! After reading all these great tips, I tried combining a few strategies yesterday and it actually worked. I used the auto-redialer app someone mentioned, called the technical support line (775-684-0350) at exactly 8:02 AM on a Tuesday, and when they answered I politely explained my situation and asked if they could transfer me to someone who could help with my weekly claim issue. The person was super helpful and got me transferred without putting me back in the general queue! The whole call took about 15 minutes instead of the usual hours of trying. It's sad that we need this level of coordination just to get basic help, but this community has been a lifesaver. Thanks everyone for sharing what actually works! 🙏
