NYDOL: Can't claim benefits until I get credit for waiting week - Help!
Hey everyone, I'm having trouble claiming my weekly benefits. The portal says I can't claim until I request credit for my waiting week by calling a specific number. Has anyone else dealt with this? What should I expect when I call? Any tips on getting through?

Ugh, I went through this last month. It's such a pain! You basically have to call and tell them you need credit for your waiting week. Be prepared to wait on hold for HOURS tho 🙄

I found a way to get someone on the phone without waiting for hours. I used this site called claimyr.com - it's a calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, and then sends the call to your phone when a live agent picks up. It costs $20, but it worked for me. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

•Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

•Yeah, it's legit. I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me so much time. Worth every penny imo

•How long did it take for them to call you back?

•It took about 2 hours for me, but I've heard it can vary. Still way better than doing it yourself!

Here's what you need to do: 1. Call the number early in the morning, like right when they open 2. Have your claim ID and SSN ready 3. Tell them you need credit for your waiting week 4. Be patient and polite (the reps are dealing with a lot) 5. Make sure to ask if there's anything else you need to do 6. Write down the name of who you spoke to and any confirmation numbers Hope this helps! Let us know how it goes 👍

•Great advice! I'd add: if you get disconnected, don't give up. Keep calling back!

Pro tip: if you cant get thru on the main line, try calling your local unemployment office. Sometimes they can help with this stuff too

Just went thru this last week. Make sure you have a pen and paper ready to jot down any info they give you. And double check that everything is correct before you hang up!
