What phone number to call for PA UC weekly claim certification? System keeps disconnecting me

I've been trying to file my weekly claim by phone since the website is giving me errors, but I can't remember the right number. I called 888-255-4728 but got disconnected after waiting 20 minutes. Is there a different number for just filing weekly claims? My benefit year started in January 2025 and I've already filed 6 weeks with no problems until now. Really don't want to miss this week's certification and mess up my claim!

the main PA UC number is 888-313-7284 for filing weekly claims by phone. but honestly its always busy. i tried 29 times yesterday b4 i got thru

Thanks! Is there a best time to call? I've tried mornings but keep getting hung up on.

The correct number for filing your weekly claim by phone is 888-255-4728, which is PAT (Pennsylvania Automated Teleclaims). However, there's a separate number for questions and issues: 888-313-7284. Make sure you're calling during their hours: Monday-Friday 8AM-4PM. But remember you can also file online at www.uc.pa.gov which is usually more reliable than the phone system.

I've been trying the online system too, but it keeps saying "system unavailable" whenever I try to submit my weekly certification. Is there another way to file online?

0 coins

That error usually means maintenance or high traffic. Try very early morning (6-7AM) or late evening. If you still can't get through online or by phone after 2-3 days, you might need to speak with an actual agent about your claim.

i had this EXACT problem last month!!! the whole UC system is BROKEN!! i ended up missing a week cuz i couldnt get through and they told me TOO BAD when i finally reached someone. now im fighting an appeal for that missed week. PA UC IS THE WORST!!!

0 coins

Oh no, that's exactly what I'm worried about! Did they eventually backdate your claim or are you still waiting?

After struggling with the same issue, I found out you can also file your weekly certification by fax as a last resort. I used the form UC-500 which you can download from their website. You need to include your claim confirmation number and SSN (last 4 digits only). Send it to fax number 717-772-0378 and keep your confirmation page as proof. Worked for me when both online and phone systems were down.

0 coins

wait thats not right. theres no fax option for weekly claims. ur thinking of the initial application maybe? weekly claims HAVE to be done online or by phone.

0 coins

You're right - I was confusing it with submitting additional info for an existing claim. Sorry for the misinformation! For weekly claims, it's definitely phone or online only.

I was having the same problem last week with both the website AND phone system. Getting through to PA UC right now is nearly impossible with regular methods. I found this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that got me through to an agent in about 20 minutes instead of spending days redialing. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2. It was the only way I could get my certification issue fixed after the system kept giving me errors.

Thanks for the tip! I'll check it out if I can't get through tomorrow. Did they help you file your weekly claim or just connect you to someone who could?

0 coins

They just connected me to a real UC agent, but then the agent was able to file my weekly claim over the phone and fix whatever was causing the website error for me. Saved me days of frustration.

theres a trick to getting thru on the phone - call EXACTLY at 7:59am right before they open at 8. u usually only have to wait like 10min that way instead of hours or getting disconnected. worked for me 3 times now

0 coins

I'll try that tomorrow morning! Do I use the 888-255-4728 number or the 888-313-7284 one?

0 coins

use the 7284 one to talk to a person. the 4728 one is just automated and wont help if ur having system problems

0 coins

Just to clarify some confusion in this thread: 1. 888-255-4728 (PAT) is for filing weekly claims by phone when the system is working correctly 2. 888-313-7284 is for reaching an agent when you have issues 3. The online portal at www.uc.pa.gov is the primary method for filing weekly claims 4. Weekly claims MUST be filed during your designated window or you risk losing benefits 5. If you miss a week due to system issues, document your attempts (screenshots, dates/times of calls) The key is persistence - if you can't get through today, try different times tomorrow. But don't wait until the last day of your filing window.

This is really helpful, thank you! I still have 2 days left in my filing window, so I'll keep trying. I've been taking screenshots of the error messages just in case.

I dunno if this helps but my cousin got locked out of filing for like 3 weeks and he had to go to the actual CareerLink office in person to get it fixed. They have computers there you can use to file your weekly claim and staff that can help if the system is messing up. Might be worth it if you keep having trouble.

0 coins

That's a good backup plan. There's a CareerLink about 30 minutes from me. Did your cousin need an appointment or could he just walk in?

0 coins

Pretty sure he just walked in but this was like 2 months ago so maybe call first? Good luck!

UPDATE: I finally got through! Called the 888-313-7284 number at exactly 8:00am and only waited about 15 minutes. The agent said there was a system-wide issue affecting some accounts, including mine. She filed my weekly claim manually over the phone and said the online system should work again for me next week. Thanks everyone for your help!

0 coins

That's awesome news! Glad you got it sorted out. I've been having similar issues with the online system, so it's good to know it's a known problem they're working on. Thanks for updating us - gives me hope that calling early actually works!

0 coins

So glad you got through @Zoe Stavros! This gives me hope - I've been dealing with the same exact issue for the past 3 days. The online system keeps timing out when I try to submit my weekly certification, and I was getting really stressed about missing my filing window. I'm definitely going to try calling at 8am sharp tomorrow using the 888-313-7284 number. Did the agent mention how long the system-wide issue has been going on or when they expect it to be fully resolved?

0 coins

@Hugh Intensity I didn t'ask about the timeline, but the agent mentioned it s'been affecting some "accounts for" about a week now. She seemed confident it would be fixed soon but couldn t'give me a specific date. Definitely try calling right at 8am - that early morning tip from @Fatima Al-Qasimi really worked! Good luck with your certification!

0 coins

@Hugh Intensity I was in the same boat last week! The timeout issue seems to happen when you re'logged in for too long before submitting. Try logging out completely, clearing your browser cache, then logging back in and filing immediately. Also make sure you re'using Chrome or Firefox - I had issues with Safari. If that doesn t'work, the early morning call strategy really does work better than trying during peak hours.

0 coins

@Hugh Intensity I had the exact same timeout problem! What worked for me was switching to a different browser entirely - I was using Edge and kept getting those timeout errors, but when I switched to Firefox it went through immediately. Also try filing super early in the morning like 6-7am when there s'less traffic on the system. The server load seems to be much lighter then. If you re'still having trouble after trying those browser tricks, definitely go with the 8am phone call strategy - sounds like it s'been working well for people!

0 coins

@Hugh Intensity I ve'been dealing with PA UC system issues for months now and here s'what I ve'learned - if the online system is timing out, try using an incognito/private browser window. Sometimes the regular browser session gets corrupted with old cookies and cache data that interferes with the submission process. Also, avoid filing during lunch hours 12-2pm (and) right before 5pm when everyone s'trying to get their claims in. The system can barely handle normal traffic, let alone peak times. If all else fails, that 8am phone call trick really is your best bet - just make sure you have your SSN and confirmation number ready to go!

0 coins

@Hugh Intensity I ve'been through this exact same nightmare! The PA UC system has been absolutely terrible lately. What finally worked for me was calling the 888-313-7284 number right at 8:00 AM sharp like everyone mentioned, but I also had my phone on redial and called from two different phones at the same time to increase my chances. Got through on the second phone after about 12 minutes. The agent was super helpful and filed my claim immediately while also noting the technical issues in my account. Definitely worth the early wake-up call rather than dealing with days of stress!

0 coins

@Hugh Intensity I just went through this same headache last week! The timeout errors are so frustrating. I found that using a mobile hotspot instead of my regular WiFi actually helped - seems like some ISPs have routing issues with the PA UC servers. Also, if you do get through to an agent, ask them to add a note to your account about the technical difficulties. That way if there are any issues with late filing, you ll'have documentation that you tried multiple times. The system really is a mess right now, but don t'give up! That 8am call strategy has worked for several people in this thread.

0 coins

@Hugh Intensity Just wanted to add another tip that worked for me when I had the same timeout issues - try disabling any browser extensions temporarily, especially ad blockers or privacy extensions. Sometimes they interfere with the PA UC site s'scripts. Also, if you have a VPN running, turn it off before trying to file. The PA system seems really sensitive to anything that might look like unusual traffic. Hope you get through tomorrow morning!

0 coins

@Hugh Intensity I had the exact same timeout problem with my weekly certification last month! What finally worked for me was using a completely different device - I was trying on my laptop with no luck, but when I switched to my phone using mobile data instead of WiFi, it went through immediately. Sometimes the PA UC system just doesn t'play well with certain network configurations. Also, make sure you re'not copying and pasting any text into the forms - type everything manually. The system seems to flag copy/paste as suspicious activity. If you still can t'get through online, that 8am phone call strategy everyone s'mentioning really is your best bet!

0 coins

I've been having the same exact issue with both the website and phone system! The online portal keeps giving me "system unavailable" errors when I try to submit my weekly certification, and when I call 888-255-4728 I either get disconnected or stuck in an endless hold loop. It's so stressful because I'm worried about missing my filing window. @Zoe Stavros I'm really glad you got through - gives me hope that calling 888-313-7284 right at 8am actually works! I'm definitely going to try that tomorrow morning. Has anyone else noticed the system seems worse on certain days of the week? I feel like Mondays and Fridays are especially bad for getting through.

0 coins

@Omar Zaki You re'absolutely right about certain days being worse! I ve'noticed Mondays are terrible because everyone s'trying to file after the weekend, and Fridays are bad because people are rushing to meet their deadlines. From my experience, Tuesday through Thursday mornings seem to have the best success rates for both online and phone. The 8am sharp call strategy really does work - I was skeptical too but it saved me so much frustration. Make sure you have all your info ready before you dial because once you get through, things move pretty quickly. Good luck tomorrow!

0 coins

@Omar Zaki I totally feel your frustration! I went through the same thing last month and it s'incredibly stressful when you re'worried about missing your filing window. You re'spot on about certain days being worse - I ve'found that mid-week Tuesday-Thursday (around) 8-9am tends to be the sweet spot for getting through. The 888-313-7284 number at exactly 8am really is your best bet based on what everyone s'saying here. Also, if you do get the system "unavailable error" online, try waiting 10-15 minutes and then attempt it again - sometimes it s'just temporary overload. Keep documenting those error screenshots too in case you need proof later. You ve'got this!

0 coins

I've been dealing with this exact same nightmare for the past week! The PA UC system is absolutely broken right now. I tried the online portal about 15 times over 3 days and kept getting either "system unavailable" or timeout errors right when I try to submit. Then I spent literally hours on hold with 888-255-4728 only to get disconnected every single time. It's beyond frustrating when you're just trying to file your weekly claim and the state's own system won't let you! Reading through all these responses, I'm definitely going to try the 8am sharp strategy with 888-313-7284 tomorrow. @Zoe Stavros thanks for the update that you got through - gives me hope this isn't hopeless! Has anyone had success with filing later in the evening online? I'm wondering if the system is less overloaded after business hours.

0 coins

@Jamal Washington I ve'actually had good luck filing late in the evening! I usually try around 10-11pm when most people aren t'online and the system seems way more stable. The pages load faster and I don t'get those timeout errors nearly as much. It s'worth trying if the early morning phone calls don t'work out for you. Also, make sure you re'not logged in for more than 10-15 minutes before submitting - I noticed if I stay logged in too long reading through everything, it s'more likely to time out when I hit submit. The whole system is definitely a mess right now but don t'give up!

0 coins

@Jamal Washington I feel your pain! I went through the exact same thing last week - multiple timeout errors, endless hold times, and getting disconnected right when I thought I was making progress. The 8am calling strategy that @Zoe Stavros mentioned really is the way to go. I finally got through using that method after days of frustration. For evening filing online, I ve had'mixed results but around 9-10pm seems to be a sweet spot when the server load is lighter. Also try clearing your browser cache completely before attempting to file - sometimes old session data causes those timeout errors. Hang in there, the system is definitely having widespread issues right now but persistence pays off!

0 coins

@Jamal Washington I totally understand your frustration - I went through the same exact thing just last week! The PA UC system has been a complete disaster lately. What finally worked for me was a combination approach: I tried the late evening filing around (10:30pm for) a couple nights but still got some timeout errors. Then I switched to the 8am phone strategy everyone s'talking about and got through on my second try. The key is having your SSN and all your info ready to go before you dial because once you connect with an agent, they can file everything for you in just a few minutes. Also, I noticed that using Chrome in incognito mode seemed to work better than my regular browser session for the online attempts. Don t'lose hope - this thread shows that people are getting through, it just takes some persistence and the right timing!

I just went through this same ordeal last week! After dealing with the same "system unavailable" errors and getting disconnected from 888-255-4728 multiple times, I finally got through using the strategy everyone's mentioning here. Called 888-313-7284 at exactly 8:00am on Wednesday and waited about 18 minutes to speak with an agent. She was super helpful and explained that there's been a system-wide issue affecting the online portal for certain accounts. She filed my weekly claim manually over the phone and assured me it was properly submitted. The key is really that early morning timing - I tried calling later in the day several times with no luck. Also, have your SSN, confirmation number, and employment info ready before you call since they'll ask for everything pretty quickly once you get connected. The whole PA UC system is definitely struggling right now but don't give up!

0 coins

Thanks for sharing your experience! It's really reassuring to hear that the 8am strategy worked for you too. I'm dealing with the same issues right now and was starting to panic about missing my filing window. Did the agent mention anything about how long this system-wide issue has been going on or when they expect it to be fully resolved? I'm wondering if I should just plan on calling every week until they get it fixed rather than wrestling with the online system.

I'm trying to file my weekly claim and I can't get through

1 coin

@Jean Ballard I feel your frustration! I just went through the exact same thing. After reading through all the advice in this thread, here s'what I d'recommend trying: Call 888-313-7284 right at 8:00am sharp - that seems to be the magic time when you can actually get through to a real person. I was skeptical at first but multiple people here have had success with this approach. If that doesn t'work, try the online system very late at night around (10-11pm when) fewer people are trying to file. The whole PA UC system is having major problems right now, so you re'definitely not alone in dealing with this mess!

0 coins

@Jean Ballard I totally understand your frustration! Based on all the experiences shared in this thread, here's what's been working for people: Try calling 888-313-7284 (not the automated 888-255-4728 number) at exactly 8:00am when they open. Several people have had success with this timing and only waited 10-20 minutes instead of hours. If you can't get through by phone, try filing online very late at night (10-11pm) when there's less traffic on the system. Make sure to clear your browser cache first and use Chrome or Firefox. The PA UC system has been having major issues lately affecting both online and phone filing, so you're definitely not alone in this struggle. Don't give up - document your attempts with screenshots in case you need proof later!

0 coins

@Jean Ballard I just went through this exact same struggle two weeks ago! The PA UC system has been absolutely terrible lately. Here's what finally worked for me after days of frustration: Set your alarm for 7:58am and call 888-313-7284 right at 8:00am when they open - don't use the automated PAT line (888-255-4728) if you're having system issues. I got through in about 12 minutes using this method and the agent was able to file my weekly claim over the phone immediately. If the early morning call doesn't work, try filing online between 10-11pm when the system is less overloaded. Also make sure you're documenting every attempt with screenshots and noting the times you tried calling - this saved me when I had to prove I was trying to file on time. The whole system is a mess right now but persistence really does pay off!
