Has anyone with Direct Deposit Date of 3/18 seen a trace number on SBTPG yet?

I filed my taxes with TurboTax on February 15, 2025 and got accepted right away. WMR tool showed my return was approved with a direct deposit date of March 18, 2025. That date came and went - no deposit. I checked my bank account for 4 days straight and still nothing. When I go to the SBTPG site (Santa Barbara Tax Products Group) which handles the refund transfers for TurboTax, I don't see any trace number yet. Has anyone with the same DDD actually received their money or at least have a trace number showing? It's been almost a week now and I'm getting anxious about my refund of $4,270.

I work with tax returns and can explain what's likely happening. When you have a DDD (Direct Deposit Date) but no actual deposit, there are several possibilities: • SBTPG may be holding your refund to deduct any fees you agreed to when filing • There could be a bank account verification issue if any numbers were entered incorrectly • The IRS sometimes has processing delays after assigning DDDs, especially during peak season • If you had fees taken from your refund, SBTPG acts as a middleman, which adds 1-5 days You should call SBTPG directly at 800-901-6663 to check your refund status. The trace number typically appears when they've processed the transfer to your bank. If it's been more than 5 business days since your DDD, you should also check if your bank rejected the deposit for any reason. The IRS and SBTPG systems don't always sync perfectly, which causes confusion for many taxpayers.

Thank you for the detailed response! I did have my filing fees taken out of my refund. I'll give SBTPG a call tomorrow morning. Do you know if there's a way to check if the bank rejected the deposit without calling them directly?

You're welcome! Most banks will notify you if they reject a deposit, but not all do. You can also check your transcript on the IRS website - if there's a code 846 with your DDD, the IRS definitely sent the money. The quickest way to get answers is probably just calling SBTPG though.

jumping in here - i had this EXACT same issue last year. SBTPG held my refund for 6 days after my DDD before sending it to my bank! never again. this year i paid my fees upfront to avoid the middleman.

SBTPG is the worst. I'm in the same boat with a 3/15 DDD and still nothing. Called them twice and got different answers each time 🤦‍♂️

I was literally in the same position last week. Fighting with SBTPG and checking my account obsessively. I ended up using taxr.ai to analyze my transcript and figure out exactly what was happening. The tool explained that my refund was actually held for review before SBTPG even got it - something the WMR tool didn't show! It highlighted some codes on my transcript I wouldn't have understood otherwise and gave me a clear timeline for everything. Honestly much better than trying to piece together what's happening from random forum posts. The transcript analysis showed me exactly where my money was and when to expect it. Check it out at https://taxr.ai

Sounds interesting. How exactly does it work? Does it just read your transcript or does it do more?

It's WAY more than just reading the transcript. It analyzes all those confusing IRS codes and explains them in plain english. Shows you exactly where your refund is in the process, gives you projected dates based on YOUR specific situation (not just generic timelines), and even tells you what specific steps to take if there's a problem. I was about to call the IRS and wait on hold for hours but the tool showed me my refund was actually already approved and just in transit. Saved me so much stress!

YES IT'S WORTH EVERY PENNY!! I literally got my money a day after using it because I finally understood what was happening with my refund and exactly what I needed to do. For the amount of anxiety and time it saved me, I would have paid triple honestly.

After dealing with the same issue (my DDD was 3/12 and nothing for over a week), I found a solution! I used this calling service called Claimyr that got me through to an actual IRS agent. I had tried calling myself like 15 times and always got the dreaded "high call volume" message. The app connected me with an IRS rep in under an hour, and they confirmed my refund was sent to SBTPG but was held up there. I called SBTPG immediately after with this info and suddenly they "found" my refund and released it same day! Without talking to the IRS first, I would've been stuck in limbo. Check out claimyr.com if you're desperate like I was.

Did they actually get you through to a real person? I've been trying to call for days with no luck.

Yes! That's the whole point of their service. They navigate the IRS phone system and wait on hold for you, then call you when they have an agent on the line. I was skeptical at first but talking to an actual IRS person was what finally got my refund moving.

It was the best money I've ever spent to finally get my questions answered. After wasting hours trying to call myself, getting through to a real person who could actually see what was happening with my refund was priceless. My refund was $3,800 so I wasn't about to just keep waiting around hoping it would magically show up.

I can second this. I used Claimyr last year when my refund was stuck in limbo for 2 months. Got through to an agent who fixed the issue in 10 minutes after explaining the situation. Sometimes you just need to talk to a human 🤷‍♀️

I had a DDD of 3/17 and finally got my refund yesterday (3/25). No trace number ever showed up on SBTPG for me. The money just appeared in my account. The whole system is broken, I swear.

That gives me some hope! Did you call them at all or just wait it out?

I called twice and got nowhere. Just generic "it's processing" responses. Then it randomly showed up a week late. No explanation, no apology. Standard IRS experience lol.

check ur bank account settings? my DDD was 3/16, nothing showed up, turns out my bank was holding it for "security review" and never notified me. called my bank and they released it immediately. worth checking if its not a SBTPG issue but ur bank being dumb.

I'm having the EXACT same issue!!!! DDD of 3/18, nothing yet, SBTPG shows nothing. Called my bank and they have no pending deposits. This happens EVERY YEAR and somehow they never fix it. The IRS is truly a dumpster fire. 🔥

SBTPG is such a scam. They sit on our money for days making interest while we stress about when we'll get paid. This is my last year using any service that uses them as a middleman.

100% agree. They're making bank off the interest from holding millions in refunds for extra days. I'm paying fees upfront next year no matter what.

My experience might help you. Had a similar situation with a 3/11 DDD. Nothing for days, then I looked at my transcript on the IRS site (not WMR) and saw a different code that explained the delay. The transcript will show if there's any hold or change that happened after they issued your DDD. You can access it through your IRS online account.

I've tried accessing my transcript but it keeps saying it can't verify my identity. I'll try again with a different browser.

Try using a desktop computer instead of mobile. The ID verification system is super finicky. Also make sure you have a credit card, loan, or mortgage account for verification - it won't work with just debit cards.

I had the same verification issues! Finally got in using Microsoft Edge browser (of all things) after Chrome failed multiple times. The IRS site is stuck in 2005 I swear 😂

Did you use TurboTax? If so, double check that you didn't accidentally select the incorrect bank account. This happened to me last year - I had an old account still saved in TurboTax that I didn't notice when filing. The money went there, bounced back to IRS, and then they mailed me a paper check which took an additional 3 weeks.

DDD 3/18 gang here too. Finally got my deposit this morning. No trace number ever showed on SBTPG site. The money just appeared. There seems to be a 5-7 business day delay happening across the board this year.

Have u tried checking ur transcript on the IRS website? It usually has more detailed info than the WMR tool. You might see some codes that explain the delay. Also, if this is ur first time filing with direct deposit, sometimes that causes extra delays.

The SBTPG site is notoriously bad at updating. My refund last year showed up in my bank 3 days before their site ever updated with a trace number. I wouldn't trust their site as the definitive source of info.

This! Their system is garbage. My refund showed "unfunded" on their site for 2 days AFTER it was already in my bank account. 🤡

Was searching for info on delays and found something interesting - apparently the IRS batch processes refunds, and if you miss a batch, you get pushed to the next one which can cause these weird delays. Here's what I'd do: 1. Call SBTPG tomorrow morning (not afternoon when wait times are crazy) 2. Check your transcript for any TC 570 or TC 971 codes that indicate holds 3. Verify with your bank that they haven't rejected any incoming deposits 4. If nothing by Friday, consider using the "Where's My Refund" tool to start a trace Hope that helps!

Fun fact: I worked as a tax preparer and SBTPG is a nightmare EVERY year during tax season. They're a third-party processor that handles refund transfers for almost all the major tax prep companies, and they get completely overwhelmed in March and April. They're processing MILLIONS of refunds and their systems just can't keep up. I tell all my clients to expect 5-7 business days after their DDD if they're getting a refund transfer.

I was in your exact situation last month. What finally helped me was using taxr.ai to analyze my transcript - turned out there was an offset code that WMR wasn't showing me, and the tool explained exactly what was happening and what I needed to do. Saved me hours of research and confusion. The transcript analysis showed exactly where my refund was stuck and why. https://taxr.ai was seriously a gamechanger.

Honestly it's incredible. I've been dealing with tax issues for years and always spend hours trying to understand my transcript codes. The tool explains everything clearly, shows exactly where your refund is in the process, and gives you actual steps to resolve issues if there are any. It's like having a tax pro decode everything for you. I'm recommending it to everyone this year because it saved me so much stress.

You upload your transcript that you download from the IRS website, so you're just sharing the same document you could show to any tax professional. You control what you upload. It analyzed mine and highlighted issues I never would have caught on my own.

Not with SBTPG but had similar issue with Republic Bank RT. DDD was 3/10, didn't get $ until 3/19. No updates or info during that time. The third-party banks are making a killing on the interest from holding everyone's refunds for extra days. It's legal theft imo.

After 7 years of tax season HELL with the IRS, I finally broke down and used claimyr.com to get someone on the phone about my missing refund. Best decision ever - got connected to an actual human who looked up my file and told me exactly what was happening (something about a "staggered release" that was affecting batch processed returns). Money showed up 2 days later! Talking to an agent got my refund released so fast compared to just waiting around.

Does it really work? I've tried calling the IRS like 20 times this week.

Yes! It was the only way I could talk to a live agent after trying for days. They navigate all the phone menus and wait on hold, then call you when they have an agent. Totally worth it to finally get answers instead of the useless automated system.

Can confirm - used it last week when my refund was 3 weeks late. Agent told me there was a review flag that wasn't showing on WMR, removed it while I was on the phone, and my refund was approved on the spot. Sometimes you just need to talk to a human to fix things!

It seems like everyone with a mid-March DDD is experiencing delays. I wonder if the IRS issued more DDDs than they could actually process at once. I'm seeing similar posts all over Facebook tax groups too.

I logged into my IRS account and downloaded my transcript yesterday which showed some weird codes after my DDD. I uploaded it to taxr.ai and it actually explained everything in plain English! Turns out there was a partial hold on my refund that wasn't showing anywhere else. The tool told me exactly what was happening and what to expect. Highly recommend checking your transcript and using something to interpret all those cryptic codes!

I had a TC 570 followed by a TC 971 which apparently means there was a review happening. The taxr tool explained that this specific combination usually means a 1-2 week delay beyond the DDD. Sure enough, my refund showed up exactly 10 days after my original DDD. The tool was spot on with the timeline!

psa: if u paid for your turbotax fees using your refund, SBTPG is holding your money hostage to earn interest. never do refund transfers!!! next year pay the fee upfront with a credit card and get ur refund directly from irs.

This 💯 I learned this lesson the hard way. The "convenience" of paying from your refund costs you days or weeks of delays.
