DDD 3/15 but still no deposit - TurboTax says 'refund on the way' for over a week now
Filed my taxes through TurboTax back in February and got accepted right away. I received that 'your refund is on the way' email from TurboTax about 9 days ago. My direct deposit date (DDD) is 3/15 according to my transcript and SBTPG has been showing 'funded' status since last Monday. Still nothing in my bank account and no pending deposits. I don't have any trace number showing up anywhere. Anyone else dealing with this? How long did it take for your refund to actually hit your account after getting that email?

This is normal - there's often a delay between when SBTPG (Santa Barbara Tax Products Group) shows funded and when your bank actually processes the deposit. SBTPG is the third-party bank that handles refunds for TurboTax when you choose to have your filing fees taken out of your refund. Typically you'll see your deposit within 1-5 business days after funded status. Some banks hold deposits for 24-48 hours before releasing them. Since your DDD is 3/15, you're still within the normal timeframe. If you don't see anything by Thursday (3/18), then you might want to call your bank to see if they're holding it or contact SBTPG directly at 1-800-901-6663 to ask about the status. One important thing to check - verify that your bank account info was entered correctly when you filed. Simple digit errors are a common reason for delays.

•Thank you for the detailed explanation. I double checked my bank info and everything is correct. I'll wait until Thursday before I start making calls.

•this is why I always chose to pay the turbotax fee upfront instead of having it taken out of my refund. Cuts out the middle man and speeds things up by days!

•I learned my lesson after last year - paid the fee upfront this time and got my refund in 2 days after my DDD. SBTPG is just an unnecessary extra step that holds ur money 🤦♀️

I was in the exact same situation last week and was getting super frustrated trying to figure out what was happening with my refund. I tried using the IRS website but it's so cryptic. Then I found this tool called taxr.ai that actually explained my transcript in plain English and showed me exactly what was happening with my refund. It showed me that SBTPG was holding it for processing but that it was normal and gave me an estimated deposit timeframe. Saved me hours of stress and googling. You should check it out at https://taxr.ai - way better than trying to decipher everything yourself.

•Sounds interesting. How exactly does it work? Does it just read your transcript or does it do more?

•It does WAY more than just read the transcript. It actually analyzes all your codes and dates, explains what each one means, tells you if there are any red flags, and gives you a super clear timeline of what's happening. I was able to see exactly why my refund was delayed and when to expect it. Seriously saved me so much stress - I recommend it to everyone now!

•Is it safe tho? I'm always nervous about tax tools.

•Totally get the concern! I was hesitant at first too, but it's seriously legit. They explain everything clearly and it was THE only thing that could tell me wtf was happening with my refund when IRS phone lines were useless. Best decision I made during tax season!

After dealing with the same issue (waiting forever with SBTPG showing funded), I finally broke down and used this calling service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get through to an actual IRS agent. Got a callback within like 30 minutes when I'd been trying to reach someone for days. The agent confirmed my refund was processed and explained that SBTPG had a processing delay on their end. The money hit my account the next day after the agent put a note on my file. Worth every penny since I got my $3400 refund released instead of waiting potentially another week or more.

•How does this work? The IRS line always hangs up on me saying they're too busy 🤬

•It basically keeps calling for you using their system until it gets through the IRS phone tree, then calls you once it has a live agent on the line. I was super skeptical but desperate after trying for days on my own. Talking to an actual human at the IRS was what finally got my refund moving.

•another service that promises the impossible? sure jan 🙄

•Nah I get the skepticism, I felt the same way. But I was about to lose my mind waiting for my refund to show up. Figured it was worth a shot and it actually worked. The IRS agent was able to see things about my account that weren't showing up on the Where's My Refund tool. Best money I've spent during tax season tbh.

•Ok fine I might check it out. Been on hold with the IRS for literal HOURS this week with no luck.

Same boat. Got my TT email on 3/5, transcript shows DDD of 3/12, and SBTPG shows funded since 3/8. Still nothing in my acct. Bank says no pending deposits either. This is ridiculous every year.

•Yep, finally came through yesterday afternoon! So that was 6 business days after SBTPG showed funded. No explanation for the delay.

PSA: If you paid for TurboTax fees out of your refund, SBTPG takes their cut before sending to your bank. They can hold it up to 5 business days even after showing "funded" status. Its stupid but legal.

Had the exact same situation for my tax refund this year. TurboTax email came feb 29, DDD of March 5, SBTPG showed funded March 7, but didnt actually hit my bank until March 13. They're definitely holding onto our money to collect interest. Crooks.

•THIS!!!! 💯 They're making interest on millions of refunds for those extra days. Multiply that by hundreds of thousands of taxpayers and they're making bank.

•Exactly. That's why I always pay filing fees upfront now. Learned my lesson the hard way last year.

For those who don't know: SBTPG = Santa Barbara Tax Products Group. They're the bank that handles TurboTax refunds when you choose to pay your filing fees through your refund. They take your refund from the IRS, deduct TurboTax fees, and then send the rest to your bank. This extra step can add several days to your refund timeline.

•And they don't have to follow any particular timeline, which is why it's so frustrating. They can sit on your money for days while showing "funded" status.

If ur using TurboTax and having them take fees from ur refund, next year PAY THE FEES UPFRONT!!! I did both ways (last year let them take from refund, this year paid upfront) and got my refund 5 days faster this year. The extra step through SBTPG is just them holding our money to make interest.

•Yes I checked, transcript shows 3/15 as DDD which matches what TT told me

•I swear the IRS website is designed to be as confusing as possible. Has anyone actually been able to understand all those codes on the transcript without a decoder ring? 🤔

•I used taxr.ai to translate all those crazy 846/570/971 codes on my transcript and it was super helpful. Made everything clear in seconds instead of me trying to google every code and date. https://taxr.ai saved me a ton of time.

Check your SBTPG account directly (not through turbotax). Go to taxpayer.sbtpg.com and create an account using the same info from your tax return. Sometimes it shows more details about the status there.

•Thanks for the tip! Just checked and it still shows "funded" but there's a note saying it can take 1-5 business days to reach my bank even after funded status.

I had a 3/8 DDD, SBTPG showed funded on 3/10, and deposit hit my account 3/14. So it took 4 business days after funded status. Hang in there!

The trick is to call ur bank directly. Sometimes they can see pending deposits that don't show up in online banking yet. My DDD was 3/1, SBTPG showed funded on 3/3, and when I called my bank on 3/7 (still with no deposit showing), they told me it was scheduled to post the next day. Sure enough it did.

Last year it took 2 weeks after my DDD for the deposit to actually hit my account. The whole system is broken. And try calling the IRS - IMPOSSIBLE to get through. I finally had to use Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get someone on the phone who could help. Found out SBTPG had rejected my routing number for some reason but never notified me! The IRS agent was able to fix it and I got my money 3 days later.

•Does that calling service actually work? I've tried calling the IRS like 20 times and can never get through

•Yes it works! I was desperate after waiting over a month and their system got me through to an agent in about 20 minutes. The agent fixed everything in 5 mins once I finally got to talk to someone. Changed my life during tax season not having to waste hours on hold.

The IRS, TurboTax, and SBTPG are all playing hot potato with our money while collecting interest. I waited 7 business days after "funded" status before my deposit came through. The system is designed to be confusing and slow.

•Facts. They're making millions in interest by holding everyone's refunds for a few extra days. It's literally free money for them.
